Rap/nu-metal seems to be mostly popular with 12yr old boys (and has been ever since it got big in the late 90's/early 00's). Most proper metal fans are fat beardy, hairy 30-50yr olds (with personal hygiene/BO problems - but that extends to all metal fans ;p ).
