MPAA sues website linking to pirated movies
The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) has sued Pullmylink.com, a website featuring links to free – and allegedly pirated – movies and TV shows, claiming the site promotes and profits from copyright infringement. The lawsuit is the seventh action filed by the MPAA against content aggregators in the US (thank God RLSLOG is hosted in Europe) since late last year and is part of a larger anti-piracy campaign that included a criminal raid on the UK headquarters of the website TV Links. The campaign against sites that link to, but do not host, illegal content has raised some eyebrows with critics asking why the association doesn’t go after the host sites or search engines such as Google.com, which owns video sharing site YouTube.com. “Is the message that it’s less criminal to host illegal content on YouTube than it is to link to it from a site such as TV Links?” Guardian technology columnist Jack Schofield wrote in the wake of the MPAA-directed raid on TV Links in October.
“In future, do I risk being thrown in the slammer for linking directly to a YouTube video?” The MPAA, which represents Hollywood’s major studios in government affairs, has obtained settlements or resolutions in the six other cases against web aggregators of video content. It plans to continue its aggressive pursuit of new sites using “a variety of techniques” to force them to hand back profits made from advertising, anti-piracy director John Malcolm said. Pullmylink.com sees 12,000 visitors a day who view more than 39,000 pages of content, including cable television shows and movies that are still in cinemas. The site recently featured links to streamed copies of the feature films Stop-Loss, 21 and The Other Boleyn Girl, which have not yet been released to DVD, as well as many TV series such as The Tudors, Entourage, and Rome. I never knew about that site either. Maybe RLSLOG can get the MPAA to sue and mention them in the news to get more traffic. After all, if hosting isn’t a crime, but linking to is a crime, imagine how bad it must be to report on releases and link to sites that host links. Wow, that might be punishable by death to the MPAA.

All this does is advertises the fact that there are illegal movies on the internet. Then “others” go in search of them, and download them for themselves. This hits my sales of pirated movies. please stop suing, I am going to be out of pocket soon, or going to have to think of a new money making venture, and as this pulls in quite a bit of pocket money for me, I think they are totally out of order. How do they expect man to live by fraud alone if they keep suing? I have to get my taxes back somehow, so leave the little guy alone….

Rlslog doesn’t, just links. There are no membership fees here, and the advertising is standard for any site. (Used to pay for hosting)
You can’t bust a site like this or Google would be busted. The MPAA will not actively go after a link site. This is not a tracker as you know. The most they will do is what they have done. Send nasty letters(paper tiger) to ISPs. SCREW’um.
If it does get bad. Do like Secret Cinema/Cinema Obscura did and move your host to China. As long as your posters/commentors refrain from discusing Chinese politics you can do whatever you want.

@17 The site is hosted on the RIPE Network by a subscriber of Virgin Media. This probably means the guy is running the site from his house and probably has been busted before. Most likely a fellow torrenter that’s looking for a way out of some trouble. They do the same thing in the states but you can’t get super-smart college kids to listen until they get busted. I would stay away from sites like this. If you don’t read about a site here or say (god forbid) TorrentFreak, then it’s probably a fake. Of course TorrentFreak did help that guy start a aXXo website that aXXo had absolutely nothing to do with. Even “interviewed” him of course that never happened either.
Check the comments section here and the forum. Some folks have put together really nice friendly torrent sites.

I don´t mind people downloading “The Hulk” and “Iron Man” – Hollywood deserves that for putting trash and remakes and “sure-thing” movies out, but please consider twice when downloading a low-budget independent film. Independent filmmakers often strive 10 times harder than the asses in Hollywood, but only get 1/10 of the credit for their efforts. It´s sad but true!
