Not sure if I’m allowed to ask this here, but to anyone who’s tried this software, is it worth me changing from collectorz.com movie collector to this one.

Stick with collectorz.com Movie Collector if you use Vista Media Center or are thinking of upgrading to it in the future. There’s a cool plugin called MC Organiser that lets you access your Movie Collector database and flip through your movies with an iTunes/iPhone style cover flip interface and it looks beautiful!

Vista Media Center’s standard method of displaying video thumbnails is horrible and slow.

Does anyone really need software like this? When I burn my files to DVD, I make a text listing of the contents, add the DVD number to it and append it to the existing list. When I want to find something, I view the text listing, hit CTRL-F to open the find box, type in what I’m looking for and I can then skip through the matches with F5. Takes all of about 10 seconds. Then I just pull out the appropriate DVD and I have what I’m looking for.

Does this program import all the file format information when you have a movie in Xvid/Divx format? I’m looking for a DVD manager that will do all the normal information download from Amazon and/or IMDB but also tells me how many audio tracks and what language they are labeled and what format the audio is (MP3/ACC/etc) and what the screen size is for each movie (640×480, 1280×720, or whatever).

    newtastyland,

Extreme Movie manager will check your hard drive for movies and give information about it including codecs, audio etc. I personally didn’t like it, but give it a try. You can find it on here, as a new version was released within the past week.

Also do any of the DVD management programs read MKV containers or OGM containers? Will they tell/track the audio, subtitle, video info? Like in MKV you can have chapters, multiple subtitles, DVD like menus, multiple audio tracks, multiple video tracks. Also Divx containers are suppose to support the same thing but I don’t see many Divx containers compared to MKV.

Actually yes, that screenshot is particularly reminiscent of Office 2007 because of the toolbar.

I used the crack in XP and got a virus… it deleted all of my bookmarks and many of my drivers. When I ran my Avast virus scan it didn’t find anything. I tried to use system restore but it would not restore to any of the restore points. Then I used system restore from safe mode and it did not restore any of the information I lost. Anyone else have this problem and know what I can do. THanks
