More information about Crysis

Currently running CES at Las Vegas has clearly one favourite among computer video games: Crysis dominates above all other titles. This action FPS postponed to Q3 2007 fills the front pages of all gaming magazines, and to be honest, I think it’s a well deserved attention. Guys from Gamespot posted a hand-on preview after the talk with Crysis developers, as well as some new screenshots – they could actually try the current alpha demo of Crysis on few levels. I don’t have to add they were amazed:

Crysis looks amazing when in motion. The game is stuffed with all sorts of graphical technologies that, when combined together, create the sensation of being in a tropical jungle under fire. In the demo, we stealthily approached the village and used an assault rifle to start picking off North Korean soldiers. With the alarm raised, the battle began in earnest, and we used the environment so that we could lean from cover and cut down enemy troops. Crysis takes place in a near-future setting, so we used our nano suit to switch power to various systems. Dumping energy into speed let us sprint at superhuman speeds over large distances.

There could be some problems though, with people not having high-end machines. But there’s still half a year till the launch, so you got enough time to upgrade for Crysis. I can’t miss that…

This lad told us that Crysis, the highly-anticipated game we played today is still in pre-Alpha only. He expects it to go to Alpha by March, while the real beta and final version are pushed toward middle of 2007. The demo of the game we played showed a great potential. The game was running in DirectX 10 mode on 32-bit Vista. The code may still have some infant illnesses but it looks great on a G80, Geforce 8800 GTX, Core 2 duo and it provides 60 FPS+, at almost all times. It certainly works and looks much better than Rainbow [buggy] Six Vegas.

I’m sick of all these god damn games coming out that only work on 3 different graphic cards. Hello, game makers, you know there are some of us out here who don’t spend every spare dime on graphics cards. We have these things called lives.

It certainly looks sweet. I’m not sure it will run properly on my new machine but I guess if I tune down the settings a little it won’t give me that much BS.

The point I’m actually worried about is the clause of DX10. I’m not aware if the game only supports DX10 or not but if it does I’m in big trouble, because I have no intention of upgrading to Vista just to play this. Hope it supports DX9 as well or some release group puts out a cracked DX10 suitable for older Windows version.

    Peace out.

adzik: Don’t worry, the game is completely DX 9 compatible also and will look nice on DX9 also, since the first screenshots and demos were made on DX9.

hum: That x1600 will not even run current gen games, why would you think it’d even play Crysis?

When will game devs learn that fancy graphics do no make a fun game? I’d much rather play some 2D game from 10 years ago than most of the over-hyped games released lately.

    Hey hey.. this isn’t right..
“It certainly works and looks much better than Rainbow [buggy] Six Vegas.” I play Vegas, there is only a few bugs.. less bugs than BF:2142 has and thats been out for 3 months. Vegas only 1 month.

Everything I’ve seen and read on Crysis is just hype, nothing more. The game is just eye candy, no real content. If there is any real content to Crysis, no one seems to give a shit since most gamers are hypnotized by the shiny new graphics and physics. Yeah that stuff is cool, but graphics and physics alone don’t make for a great game.

So far, it sounds like FarCry with new graphics and maps. Oh joy. I love FarCry, but for fucks sake, give us something new and kick ass, not just shiny.

I’m so sick of devs making shit games with killer graphics,
and people just eat it up and beg for seconds. Most of you gamers are fucking braindead and don’t know what real gaming is. This is why they keep making and selling shit games with nice graphics.

I’m tired of shit games with insane graphics requirements that most of the gaming community simply can’t play because they can’t afford to upgrade every damn time shader models or pixel shaders gets upgraded.

Not all of us can afford to buy or build a new pc every few years or even just a vidcard every year. Not all of us want to, even if we could.

But do the game companies give a shit? Hell no!
Why? Because you braindead fucks out there who spend every single penny you get on the latest vidcard just to play the latest shit game are making the game companies loads of profit and as long as they see profit, they don’t give a flying fuck what anyone wants, including you.

Just try to count the number of games released in the last 5 years that got no support from their makers, yet sold like crazy. You probably can’t count that high.

Yet, when a game isn’t selling very well, guess what? They support it! Why? Because it’s cheaper to support a game no one is playing, than it is to support a game millions are playing, no matter how fucked up the game is.

    It’s called supply and demand.

I could probably count on both hands the number of truly great pc games released in the last 2 years, yet when I think back to the 80’s and 90’s, I can think of hundreds of titles that were awesome, and even to this day, most of those old games are so much better than the shit on the shelves now.

So fuck it, I’m tired of gaming and I’m just plain tired. End rant.

    Syntax: I agree.

Anyone else notice how the game developers managed to get even lazier by creating loads of Real Time Strategy games?

Yes, I definately think we don’t have enough Call Of Duty games, or War shooters in general.

The only newer game that has had many sequels, and managed to get better every time is the GTA series. You can obviously tell that they added many new things in each installment, and weren’t concentrating on graphics the whole time.

I predict this game is going to be what, 8 – 10 GB?
Wow, let’s shoot some guys and have really good graphics, then this game is awesome.
