More improvements in Interner Explorer 8 RC1

Microsoft has released Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 RC1, a near-final version of its new Web browser that’s stable enough for widespread public testing.Assuming that no show-stopping bugs or significant vulnerabilities are identified between now and whenever Microsoft is planning to offer the official release of Internet Explorer 8, RC1 represents the final form of Microsoft’s browser, at least until the next revision. Internet Explorer 8 has some catching up to do. Its global market share, according to Net Applications, is just 0.82%, compared with Google Chrome (all versions) at 1.04%, Mozilla Firefox (all versions) 21.34%, and Apple Safari (all versions) 7.93%.The various versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer have 68.15% of the global browser market, down from 91.27% in 2004.

Among IE8’s selling points are various safety and security improvements. These include architectural changes that put Web pages in separate processes, privacy enhancements, and online safety measures. In all, IE8 delivers significant security improvements over its predecessors. But given the extent to which cybercrime relies on social engineering, users of IE8, like other modern browsers, would be well advised to remain cautious in the sites that they visit and the information that they disclose online. It’s only a matter of time before someone figures out a way around IE8’s new defenses.

    Interner Explorer 8 RC1:

    * Saves you time and effort by installing every piece of malware and spyware that is compatible with your system.
    * Instantly redirects you to porn advertisements when it detects nearby family members.
    * Crashes on any attempt to access online banking for extra security!
    * Automatically sends all your personal details, credit card numbers, and passwords to phishing sites when you first view them. No more complex forms to fill out!

    @5: 100% correct

    *Every* web developer I have spoken to cares so little about IE8 given the crapfest of the previous two IE releases. The attitude seems to be: use it on my site if you like, but if it doesn't work, use a standards browser instead.

    yeah, um what developers are they ? the important developers recognise internet explorer 8 as they know soon enough when windows 7 is released internet explorer 8 will be the included browser by default. yeah that doesn't stop you installing firefox, but think of the number of people who can only just use a computer to check their facebook and w.e there not gonna know what firefox is or care what firefox is for example. So yeah stop with the sh*t!

    If you're stupid enough to let sites take your info or save your info in the browser, you deserve to be ripped.

    @6
    There is no truth to what you're saying. I'm a web developer and our first and foremost requirement for any website is to have compatibility with IE6, IE7, and FF. Even though I use chrome and safari, they are no where on our charts of compatibility but we do it anyway.

    @7
    Spot on!

    IE 8 is already included in the Windows 7 beta, so it's old news to me. Haven't even bothered using it though and never will, Firefox is better and i'll never go back to IE.

    FF is still not comapatible will 100% websites. I use FF but still have to resort to IE for some sites (secure sites). I guess first priority of developer is IE then FF.

    The only reason why IE has 68% of market share is IGNORANCE. Probably only 10% of these know of the existence of Firefox or Opera (these people include those who only use internet to chat or watching porn). If people were given the choice between Firefox and IE (instead of sticking it to the OS like Windows does) then Firefox porcentage of market share would be higher than 50%, for sure.

    Alla you firefox fanboiz need to STFU. When was the last time you tried the new IEs? Never, I bet.

    Tabbed browsing is no longer solely the province of mozilla. The new IEs are just as secure & just as stable, ya nubs.

    It's usually the websites which are not compatible, not the browser. If you obey standards as set by the W3C it looks fine in most browsers (not IE), you actually have to violate them to make things work in IE.

    @20:

    You're right…
    I'm a webdesigner, and I have to make websites working on IE and Firefox… but in my computer the default browser is FF, so when I'm doing the coding I test first in FF, and sometimes when it's all good in FF I go and test in IE and I have always to change something to work fine in both…

    IE have a strange way read the code…
    And here I quote: "you actually have to violate them to make things work in IE."

  20. hugocarneiro
    January 28th, 2009 | 15:10

    I have used the IE7 and I think that IE7 it's unstable… and if you want protection you can get it with IE7, but with that you can't see any website, almost any website, by turning the security to high…

    That's why FF is better, with standard security you will be more protected than IE7…

    But it all depends a bit of the way you use the internet…

    @hugocarneiro..

    "But it all depends a bit of the way you use the internet…"

    Spot on! Safe practice is vital, regardless of what browser you use.

    I use both IE7 and FF on various machines and I don't get malware infections or stability issues..it does help that I know what I am doing to an extent.

    I've also tidied up serious infections for others which have come about whilst using FF so as you say, it's all down to how people use the net.

    the best combination when surfing the web is:
    Know what are we doing and have a good anti-malware program :)

    I personaly like more FF because of its add-ons, for me as a webdesigner and because I had problems with IE crashing too many times.

    But I don't pick sides… IE and FF are both good browsers when you know what you're doing.

    I wonder what makes all these people "web designers", I've been building web sites for over 10 years now, and still use ie for my day to day use, every one of my sites is designed to work in ie first, same goes for just about anyone i deal with regularly.
    The reason ie is "less secure" is simply because more people, especially noobs, use ie, so there are many more exploits written for it.
    If is actually comes down the which one is most secure, updated most often in a timely manor, then it's ie hand down.

    The is no arguing the truth.

    IE is definitely better. You all have never used the new versions of IE. I'm using Windows 7 and using IE8 and it is hell lot better than the sh*tty mozilla firefox.

    Microsoft isn't run by fools who don't how to make a web browser

    @26 "I've been building web sites for over 10 years now"

    Yeah! I´ve been building for 230 years, if you still use IE as a reference browser for your coding you are ignorant, its like building a house with your own space inches and everybody who is looking at your house have to use special goggles to see how it looks like! We have standards, W3C READ THEM!

    @30
    you use ie as a reference browser not because it follows the standards but because it is the most widely used browser in the world. i dont think any customer would be too impressed when you show them their new standards built website that doesn't work for 60% – 70% of the web browsing population (their customers!). "but it looks good in firefox". who gives a f*ck

    @30 DeXTR:
    I'm sorry was that supposed to be some kind of diss?
    because I was building houses long before websites.
    all my houses are still standing up just as well as all my websites.
    I wasn't dissing other browsers, I wasn't even arguing.
    but… I AM getting really tired of having to fix other people's messes because they think like you.
    Leave web development (and house building) to the professionals please.
