Moonspell is a Portuguese gothic metal and black metal band, formed in 1989 as Morbid God. After renaming themselves Moonspell in 1992, they released their first EP Under the Moonspell in 1994, a year before of the release of their first album Wolfheart. The band quickly gained status and became one of the most recognizable metal bands from Portugal.

@18 as far as i know, they born in portugal, but they live in germany for more than 10 years. they also make music and produce in germany. so… it’s a german band. i know lots of belgium, english and french bands formed with portuguese members… still, they aren’t portuguese bands.

Sure it sounds the same and costs less… but if you like the band, then you KNOW that owning the original is ALWAYS better.
@40 & 42: Nah, of course having the CD is better, but somehow I feel I should have supported some other band since I buy CDs less and less often. I like Moonspell but there are at least 10 other bands I like that I think would need the money more:D

The reason there are so many Portuguese here at RLSlog is because the wages in Portugal are low and the taxes are high (21%).
That and we are known to cut a lot of corners in order to save a few euros. Too bad whatever we save we usualy spend on useless items! But who doesn’t do that all over the world?

I don’t have any problem with Portuguese. I like Moonspell and I have attended at their show here in Greece.

Moonspell is a good band today but their early work was better. One track comes to mind right away, Opium. The sound it produced was just amazing and the last wording in portuguese language was simply great!
