Moby – Last Night (2008)

Well the music section isn’t somehow extremely important here at Releaselog but this release deserves to be posted: Moby’s new album Last Night is easily the music release of the day and you should all check it out. The retail date scheduled for this album is 31 March so you get it with a few days in advance too!

Last Night will be Moby’s ninth studio album and is to be released on 31 March 2008 in the United Kingdom and 1 April 2008The album was recorded in Moby’s home studio in Manhattan, New York and features a number of guest vocalists, including MC Grandmaster Caz, one of the writers of “Rapper’s Delight” (on “I Love to Move in Here”), Sylvia from the band Kudu, British MC Aynzli and the Nigerian 419 Squad. On his official website, Moby stated that this album is “a lot more dance-oriented and electronic than my last fe in the USA. w albums, probably as a result of all of the DJ’ing I’ve been doing lately”.

“last night” is basically a love letter to dance music in new york city. what i love about the new york approach to dance music is the eclecticism and the open minded-ness on the part of the musicians, the dj’s, and the people in the bars and clubs. in making ‘last night’ i essentially tried to take a long 8 hour night out in new york city and condense it into a 65 minute long album.’

    The whole thing was forgettable and deleted in 10 minutes. I guess I’ve been listening to Sasha and Digweed’s Northern Exposure series too much lately. Now there’s a collection that needs Staff Pick treatment!

    smaugthewyrm: best I can do is some piratebay links with not many seeds and not great quality. I’d love to see some higher quality rips or even FLACs. The CDs were limited runs and used ones cost like $60 now.
