Try GOM player, free and basically has the same features as BS-player, only without the adware.

Just try Bsplayer and you won’t need anything else ever again, this very simple software allows you to use and define the subtitles like you want, and recognizes ffdshow and ac3! and you can set both ffdshown and ac3 thru bsplayer wiil playing the movie.

Hurm, so I found out that for additional support the codec pack needs to be installed, so with the pack (xpcodecpack, incl MPC) youll be fine with 5.1 since DirectShow with AC3-filters are installed then. It will allow you to listen multi channel audio Actually the whole pack makes sure youre machine can do it all.

Just use Zoom Player with Direct VobSub, AC3Filter and ffdshow. You won’t find that much features and usability at the same time anywhere else.

windows media player + xvid codec + vobsub does a great job but it’s to heavy

vlc that I never use i very lighter but the subs are bad on it

I love the soft of VideoLAN.org but I had some problems in the past with subs and VLC, so eversince Ive been hooked to the XP Codec Pack which comes with the Mediaplayer Classic (also seperately availlable). It’s a real charm, lightweight, stable, will play anything and you can configure the output (fontstyle, colors, size) yourself! Its great stuff, you should give it a try. About the release, I think Im gonna give it a try, for my mom lol.
