Lz0 has released newest version of popular program for Internet Relay Chat (IRC) – mIRC v6.31. This new version brings redesigned interface with new shiny icons (and some minor bugfixes). Wow. ;-)

mIRC is a full featured Internet Relay Chat client for Windows that can be used to communicate, share, play or work with others on IRC networks around the world, either in multi-user group conferences or in one-to-one private discussions.

It has a clean, practical interface that is highly configurable and supports features such as buddy lists, file transfers, multi-server connections, SSL encryption, proxy support, UTF-8 display, customizable sounds, spoken messages, tray notifications, message logging, and more.

mIRC also has a powerful scripting language that can be used both to automate mIRC and to create applications that perform a wide range of functions from network communications to playing games.

Why wouldn’t people just use AIM instead of this anymore?

  6. Scrooch
    November 5th, 2007 | 18:44

Pity this version no longer works with the xdccklipper script, I’ll be sticking with 6.30 . And whoever taught Irc is dead think again it’s a lot less of a headache than torrents don’t have to wait around for seeders.

MIRC is way better than torrents and such b/c you are not required to upload while you download. MIRC has many new releases around the same time they are shown on this site. Sends between 200-550 KB/s on a standard cable connection.

@5 – thats funny, no1 uses MIRC for chat except maybe this website.

Irc is much more than a chat scene, where do you think all those rar’d files come from, come on people wake up

    November 5th, 2007 | 19:06

I wish people would stop referring to _IRC_ as MIRC.

The client is not the protocol nor the server. Jesus christ..
Continuing on, there are still hundreds of thousands of people world wide who use IRC for chatting and file sharing. This is not likely to change for a long long time.

Don’t all those rar’d files come from newgroups? Is mIRC a newsgroup reader?

    ok nerd don’t hyper-ventilate

  13. Tim
    November 5th, 2007 | 19:18

@10 – I considered changing that but I figured most people here knew the difference between the two.

@11 – I think the description given in the post is sufficient – no IRC is not a newsgroup reader.

considering most of the warez came from private irc channels
you nerds shouldn’t talk poop about irc

I just overwrote my last version with the crack, itcould read fish encrypted channels via ssl so all good.

Removed it as the register phone home is still active.

Will wait for proper fish though or scene mod to avoid hassle.

Obviously, the files do not start out at IRC. I know it is not general knowledge, but here are some general knowledge type resources:

mirc is the shiznit, way surfaces torrents. And if you are in the scene, you know what’s up with mirc and or other client software like this.

    November 5th, 2007 | 21:48

IRC is up until today still used widely by ‘the scene’. It’s the main source of (untrackable) communication and the main source for the servers can be completely adjusted and connected with php and SQL functionality so that you can do everything what you can imagine with it as communication tool. For example … SMS-IRC connections? Ingame chat-IRC communication? etc. piece of cake.

Anyone with the slightest bit of IT knowledge knows that IRC is a very important and extremely useful communication tool.

maybe I don’t have it set up right, but I can no longer open a link if someone pastes one in a channel.. am I doing it wrong or is it a “feature” of this latest version?

    November 5th, 2007 | 23:15

Odd, I’ve just reinstalled this and started using it as a chat program due to the release of UT3.

This is pure crap, DO NOT “UPGRADE” FROM EARLIER VERSIONS!

The interface is touched-up, but some scripts (if you have any) will not work! Also, the option to right-click a nick in the chat window is now disabled! You can only use the popup menu on the nicklist.

    What a FUBAR version…

    November 5th, 2007 | 23:58

Haha, Khaled did some great work here. If you crack it, certain events will not work anymore.

Guys, try using a non-cracked version. It runs just fine.

    November 6th, 2007 | 00:05

Hmm, I still use mIRC 6.21. It seems with 6.3+ you need a crack (while 6.21 only needs a registration).

authpatch.exe is a false positive and the keygen works perfectly…

IRC is better than BT, since you dont need to upload. and its faster.
Its also better than USENET, since you dont have to pay.

People just dont know WHERE to find, and how to download. GOOOOOOOOOODDDDDDDD.

    XDCC FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You guys think Blowfish will stop the feds? Blowfish wouldn’t stop a smart 13 y/o; it is often the first modern encryption scheme cypherpunks learn to crack.

    November 6th, 2007 | 18:46

ppl who diss irc for downloading files, just dont know where to or how. too bad, uh i mean good. :)

  41. Emm
    November 6th, 2007 | 20:53

@WASD, if ppl knew then the suppliers would probably just give up cause they couldn’t handle the high demand and that’s where BT and distributed file sharing comes in! Bet not even the whole collective of IRC bots could serve as much data as it goes on in this moment through BT?… like NEVER with capital letters and in bold!

    November 7th, 2007 | 02:39

If you like to blow fish :) , you will have to wait for the scene add-on like earlier versions had:
    MIRC.v6.30.FiSH.Addon.v1.00.Internal-ZAT
    MIRC.v6.21.BlowFish.v1.29.Addon-Lz0
    MIRC.v6.17.FiSH.Addon.v1.00.Internal-ZAT

    etc…

…or you can try to do it yourself

  43. 420
    November 7th, 2007 | 02:53

BTW, MIRC.v6.31.FiSH.Addon.v1.00-WHOPREIT is fake in case anyone’s wondering.
