    the comments have been enabled for seemingly random topics since the day the comments died. seems odd but i always thought as long as they didn’t host illegal files themselves they weren’t actually doing anything wrong. at least they should note somewhere that they hold no responsibility for uploaded items and all blame\credit goes to the uploaders.

    Indie games are weird. Mainstream games get trashed in reviews for having less than perfect graphics and sound, but for “indie” games, the worse the graphics the better the reviews. I don’t know why these Indie game hipsters don’t just go and play old DOS games with 16 colour EGA graphics and a 320×240 res.

    Heinz, spiel das Spiel doch erstmal, bevor du über etwas urteilst von dem du offensichtlich nicht die geringste Ahnung hast.
    Minecraft mag keine fotorealistische Grafik haben, aber die reicht bereits um den besten Rechner in die Knie zu zwingen.

    That’s because it’s not the same people reviewing them. Mainstream games get reviewed by paid “critics” who need to cater to their target audience, teenage boys who want to impress with graphics and gore, without realising that they’re paying insane prices for the same boring game (or should I say benchmark) in a new engine every month.

    If you play some Indie games and some mainstream games you will see what the difference is. Some indie games you want to play again and again. 90% of mainstream games you complete in a few hours and never want to see again. You might think that the less impressive the graphics the better the rating, but that’s an illusion. It’s because they rate how fun the game is to play in the long term, not how nice it is to look at the first time you see it.

    That, you will seen when you actually play them. Unlike the guy further up who tried it for two minutes, wow. Now Minecraft has the problem that you don’t know how to play it unless you read fan-written tutorials. That’s not very good. But for most good games, unlike mainstream games, you have to put some effort in before you can see the greater rewards (i.e. a game that’s more fun, for longer). That’s why they don’t appeal to the zero-attention-span, instant-gratification mainstream audience.
