WinBeta  have released Beta 1 of Windows 7. Windows 7 Looks very promising so far, I am currently using as main os for my pc and works like a charm.

    currently I have two HD one XP and the other VISTA dual boot, if I stick another HD in can have tripple boot option with WINDOWS 7, has anyone tried this?????????????????????

    This might be the first Win product worthwhile since win 2000, I've been holding back from anything other than must use…of XP and Vista…which I hate…but a next gen win using x86 means I can use it, that is great.

    Anyone know what the system requirements are of this, roughly?

    @20 GTA4 was already playable on build 9656 you just have to install it in XP SP2 compatibility mode. Guess it's the same for your Special Forces game.

    It is in MOV (or quicktime format for idiots)

    so you will need a codec that will play .MOV files

    That's not much ram for a 133mhz processor mate, you should get like 16MB at least.

    Why are people still bashing vista. There is literally nothing wrong with it unless you use outdated programs or drivers.

    gamers do not require 32-bit versions as majority are with min 4GB RAM, hence require 64-bit version of windows

    also, i read somewhere 128-bit is also coming up and there will be nothing like 32-bit, all will be clubbed with 64-bit, hence, 2 versions will be coming up 64 & 128 bit

    does any hardware really require 128-bit?????

    Using this right now , accualy beein using it for a few days now and it so much more better then vista even as a pre beta release.

    had 6953 before and even that was more stable then vista sp1.

    110% worth giving a try.

    Vista is fine and all, after 2 hours of chasing down annoying processes and services….

    BUT

    -It refuses to remember my folder preferences, even with registry tweaks
    -Some "hardcoded" features are annoying
    -There is no out of the box "I'm not an idiot" mode that strips down the OS to something that runs well.
    -No performance increase over XP

    Why is it shown as version 6.1 if it's Windows 7? They called it Windows 7 because it's the seventh incarnation, so surely that would be relfected in the version number?

    Or does that just mean version 6.1 of Windows 7? As in, they've had 6 major builds of Windows 7…

    today's OS's need at least 4 at least 4GB'S of ram just for the OS. You should also run Win 7 on quadcore.

    i run vista with a time coded cd setup, 2 midi keyboards, usb asio soundcard and usb mixer and have tried extremely hard and cant make vista even flinch. when i used effects plus scratched on same computer with xp it would freeze. ive never had 1 single problem with vista, ever, and if anyone should its me, so you fools that cant get it to work are idiots. laptop with 2.33 c2d 4gb ram

    installed… tested a whole afternoon and so far it works faster and seems more stable than Vista SP1… makes me wonder if Vista isn't the beta OS and Windows 7 a final release… Can't wait to get a hand on the 64bits version of official beta of windows 7…

    using it on a c2d E6400 with 4GB of ram with an x1800GTO as gfx card.

    Can't wait for this to goto RTM.

    I'd much prefer this to the Vista resource hog that own's your processor.

    There's some coincidence that Intel rlease an i7 processor, and Micro$oft release a Windows 7 beta .. hmmm . hand in hand.

    @80 the only thing the i7 and windows7 have in common is neither is free. the i7 screams and windows will make you scream. which do you prefer?

    anyone know why im getting this error,

    i boot from cd, begin to install and then while it extracts the files it gets to 51% and fails says files are missing

    anyone know why or gettin this aswell

    Yeah, no kidding. I guess you should have used the first torrent that EVERYONE was on the moment it was leaked. Guess you "scene" groups really are desperate. Guess that namibot didn't work so great for you, or as I said early, guess you should have been in the swarm at launch. After all, I did have it fully downloaded 18 hrs before you put of your first and failed repack of the ISO you got from torrents/namibot.

    That's right "scene" groups. Average Joe's know you better than yourselves let out.

    Does anyone know if this version will play game guard mmo games. I tried 9656 but game guard would always fail. Other than that i think its better than xp and vista by far.

    Very fast! Boots in like 30s and shuts down in 10s! Uses 500-600 Mb of memory (I have 4Gigs -Vista uses around 1.2Gigs)! And when is idle the CPU usage is at 0%! :)

    Also lets not forget about DirectX11! Now all we need is DX 11 drivers and some DX11 videocards! With i7 would fly! (Optimized for multicore)

    funny, on my system with 4gb, beta 7000 uses 700-900MB of ram and cpu usage is always around 5% per core.

    Vista SP1 x64 uses 900MB-1.2GB of ram and idles at 0-1% per core.

    I'm getting now, but it's a bit slow… There's a BlueBadge app kicking about that added the hidden functions to the last release I got. I'll give that a whirl if they're locked in this build…

    I'm in no rush to try out Windows 7. I'll wait until atleast RC1 or even better, RTM release.

    For me, Vista Ultimate (legal version) runs perfect! Everything works fine. The only problems come when trying to run outdated software or old drivers. When I switched, I had a few problems with software I used not working, but it didn't take long to find better, open source, alternatives that worked perfect on Vista.

    I love Vista… people just need to give it a proper go, instead of just following the trolls in claiming it's crap when they probably haven't used it since BEFORE RC1 lol

    In a nutshell, Windows 7 is Windows Vista with a new core kernel "MinWin". You will see some thing that were in Vista, ALSO! you will see some thing that were in Windows XP. Basically its like Microsoft's very own slipstreamed version of Vista/XP on a new core. Of course we will see some new things in Windows 7. Like the skin, and the dockbar, just to name a few.

    I seen some Windows 7 beta (not this version either) benchmarks that be out XP SP2 and SP3. Can't wait for this but I'm going to wait for the RC1 or RTM release.

    and its all stable runnning all my game like l4d bfme 2 etc and drivers all my video playback everything is fine i had more issues with vista well i'm not having any issues with windows 7
