Um, correct me if i’m wrong but isn’t the only version of XP still available for retail sale XP Pro. Therefore this release could only be XP Pro meaning the nuke is a stupid waste of time!

can anyone please answer me on this question?

I’ll wait for the eth0 release…but I am still wondering with this new “serial” “scheme” that is a la vista style….will these release have the whole WGA problems or will they be registered and not need crack?

  4. Wicked
    April 24th, 2008 | 06:46

It depends… If eth0 will rls CORPORATE version of XP, you’ll only need to enter serial. No activation is needed in CORP. versonis of XP.
Any other versions of XP will probably need some wga f*cker to get rid of the protection;)

  6. jack pinoski
    April 24th, 2008 | 08:29

Thank you good to know then to look for corporate edition…or one that incldues virus free wga crack

And SP3 does NOT come bundled with anything…the release maybe does but the SP3 alone installer does not…and i quote from the microsoft developer forums (someone else asked that question).

“SP3 through windows download center is expected to be around 580 mb. Why the size difference?”

SP3 is 316MB. This is a full version of Windows XP Professional with the service pack integrated into it, hence the size difference.

“how can this to be sp3 while the ie is still v6?”

Service Pack 3 doesn’t install IE7 or WMP11. Those are separate downloads.

The student version is the one that doesn’t need activation. Corporate versions need activation.

It comes with iExplorer and iWMP13 built-in. Works great on my Mac Book Pro and iPhone. When I’ve installed SP3 on my iPhone it shows that it has GPS on it. Such a great release. Thank you, Bill.

XP Professional Corporate Edition does not need activation. That’s the main “feature” of the Corporate Version.

SP3 does not install IE7 and WMP11 during slipstream. If they are present before the slipstream, it can upgrade them to the latest versions with security updates ect. Many people, myself included do not like IE7, and I would rather not have it at all. Firefox is my browser of choice, and the newest version 3.0b5 runs great.

    April 25th, 2008 | 11:10

I doubt very much that this is a homebrew stuff.

    @ 109 sigmatic
IE7 & WMP11 will be included out of the box in a proper WinXPSP3 ISO. This is not the standalone SP3 only installer (which indeed is a separate DL) we are talking about, this is the OS as a whole.

    @ jack pinoski
The new scheme is like u can install the OS & at install time a proper WinXPSP3 will allow it to finish the installation even if u don’t enter a S/N# at install time. U will b given a few days of “testing time” after which u must enter a S/N# to reg & activate. That is how a true WinXPSP3 ISO install is supposed to behave. Until now it was mandatory to enter a S/N# during installation (either manually or in scripted manner) of XP, which is not the case for Vista.

    April 25th, 2008 | 11:16

It seems it just would be a wiser option to simply wait for a few more days for eth0’s offering (hope it will not be offered just as a slipstreamed rls like this is I suspect. Seems the installer engine didn’t got properly updated for some reason.).

Is this Windows XP Pro or Home?

  29. VikBizkit
    April 25th, 2008 | 16:03

    FYI

The 580MB ISO file is NOT a full Windows disk with SP3 integrated or slipstreamed into it. It is simply the service pack file (WINDOWSXP-KB936929-SP3-X86-ENU.EXE) along with a version of the NET Framework, and Support files, containing the support tools and a symbols.cab file. These extras are about 230MB, accounting for the size difference between the actual service pack file and the ISO. All that is really needed is the file WINDOWSXP-KB936929-SP3-X86-ENU.EXE, which is actually identical to the one found on Pirate Bay.

I have the Technet ISO, and also downloaded the torrent version. The SP3 install files are EXACTLY the same.

As far as IE7 / WMP11, they are not included in the service pack. Applying SP3 to an existing installation that already has IE7/WMP11 will apply the appropriate hotfixes, it will not downgrade those programs. If you slipstream the service pack onto a SP2 image with IE7/WMP11 already slipstreamed, it WILL replace them with the older versions. You can, however, after installing a slipstreamed SP3 disc, go ahead and install IE7 for SP2, and then go to windows update for the hotfixes.

Everything I’ve said here is from actually doing them myself, so I’m not talking out of my ass!!

    Cheers!!!

96-> you are getting the error because it didnt burn correctly. Trash that disk and try burning a new one at a lower speed. Also if you used torrent to get the file then run a rehash check to make sure its all there.

I have this installed on my laptop and its smooth and nice. No complains yet. Considering installing this on my desktop instead of vista ultimate thats already on there.

    @123

Im not really sure if its supposed to Upgrade to IE7 or WMP11 by default. I have run the prev betas and none of them did (atleast not on my pc)and they were downloaded directly from the ms downloads site. It was always IE 6 and WMP 10.

Really chaps, don’t know why you stress yourself, just simply purchase a genuine copy of XP and upgrade Legitimately, while safe in the knowledge that all is as it should be, and you’ll fill Mr. Gates pockets a little more. :)

does anyone have the “Volume License Product Key”?

  36. Captain Planet
    April 28th, 2008 | 00:39

    Time for some clarity.

This release is Windows XP Professional Edition with SP3 (RTM, Build 5512) Integrated - VOLUME LICENSE EDITION (Corporate, for you idiots).

Any non-blacklisted “VLK” (Volume License Key) will work for this release (try one of the many keys in the NFO). There is no WPA (Windows Product Activation).

This release has the SAME MD5 AND SHA-1 hashes as the WZor release (WZTiSO).

It’s not yet known whether or not this release is straight off of MSDN. I’ve talked to a few friends with MSDN and last I heard, there was not an official “XP Pro with SP3″ ISO up on MSDN yet. This may be just an XP Pro SP0 VOL release with SP3 slipstreamed onto it.

I installed this release on a VM with ZERO problems. Runs fast and stable.

And contrary to popular belief, UNLIKE Vista, XP w/ SP3 STILL requires a key to install. Guess the rumors were wrong!

One more thing, SP3 DOES NOT CONTAIN WMP 11 or IE 7!!!!!!!

    Enjoy this fine release.

By now I believe most of us already know that just as I had suspected, this was a homemade solution (a great effort I might add but not good enough) hence should be avoided.
    @136 Captain Planet
“And contrary to popular belief, UNLIKE Vista, XP w/ SP3 STILL requires a key to install. Guess the rumors were wrong!”
This is not a rumor my friend, in case u were not informed, read on….

“As with previous service packs, no product key is requested or required when installing Windows XP SP3 using the update package available through Microsoft Update”, Microsoft informed. “The Windows Product Activation changes in Windows XP SP3 are not related to the Windows Vista Key Management Service (KMS). This update affects only new operating system installations from integrated source media. This update affects the installation media only and is not a change to how activation works in Windows XP.”
“As in Windows Server 2003 SP2 and Windows Vista, users can now complete operating system installation without providing a product key during a full, integrated installation of Windows XP SP3. The operating system will prompt the user for a product key later as part of Genuine Advantage. As with previous service packs, no product key is requested or required when installing Windows XP SP3 using the update package available through Microsoft Update”, Microsoft revealed.

Now in case you are wondering \why this ISO didn’t behave in that way, the answer is right in the beginning of this post: this is NOT the real stuff, you also know that M$ hasn’t started offering the whole XpSP3 OS milestone build ISO yet, only the SP3 standalone package, which this group has intigrated to create this homemade ISO where installe rroutines are still the old one.

Again read this for a clearer idea: http://news.softpedia.com/news/Do-Not-Download-XP-SP3-RTM-Build-5512-Integrated-Slipstream-ISO-Image-84397.shtml
