    I've installed "tiny" versions of Windows 7 on old computers and they run better with that than they do XP. XP sucks! It's the year 2009 FFS!

    Anyone scaned this ?! The last two copies i downloaded from UP2DATE had Trojans! Hope there's not any virus in this one because if this one has Trojan too, i will not download UP2Date stuff anymore!

    Most of these XP/Vista installs have crap added (that I don't want) and stuff removed. Is this missing anything or have anything added to it? Otherwise I can just use my actual XP Pro disc and alter the install the way I want it with nLite.

    UP2Date always have Trojans in there software. Don't believe me. Run Malware Antibytes Immediately after you install this. You have been warned.

    Guys, there's only one PERMANENT way around WGA – and using a known distro is NOT it. Here's what to do:

    1. Obtain ANY clean and unmodified XP disc that is volume licensed (ie tagged as CORP or Student Edition).

    2. Using google (yes, it IS that easy), obtain a random VLC key that has not been used in a widespread distro. Might as well use this time to collect a few, just to have a couple backups. You can use Microsoft's own MGADiag utility to check your new key(s) for validity. If you can't succeed at this step, then perhaps piracy isn't your bag – bite the bullet and purchase a legit key.

    3. Either install XP from scratch using one of your new "personal" VLC keys, or use the VBS scripts available on Microsoft's own support pages to change your key in an already installed VLC version of XP.

    That's it – you're "Genuine!". And your key is not a known leaked key, so is unlikely ever to be blocked. Just keep the new key(s) to yourself and don't spread them around the internet and they're likely to keep working forever. I have a collection of 5 fully legit and non-blocked VLC keys that I have been using for a little over a year now, and none of them have become non-"genuine". Don't bother asking me for one, cause you won't get it. Finding the legit keys is your own challenge. Trust me, they're out there, thanks to the whole lotta stupid we've got roaming around the planet.

    @33 THX for the info.

    Yeah, I heard that XP Pro has network stuff and such that isn't really needed.
    And when making music on a computer, RAM (that might be snatched by Windows gimmicks) is crucial.
    I think even Open-Labs is using XP Home on their computer based keyboards.
    XP is still the OS of choice for Windows based music computers.
    MS seems to pick up with Windows 7, I like it, but the drivers can't be ready for all the VSTi out there.

    And before the Apple-Cry-Babies are yapping away;
    Some people like Apple, others prefer real computers!

    Some have commented that this release may contain viruses and/or trojans. I did a test install and scanned with several tools. Seems clean to me.

    I'll second that. I just scanned it with Malwarebytes and Zone Alarm and it came up clean. My test install worked too.

    It says that it is Corporate plus _Unattended_, meaning it shouldn't be touched; as in no programs has been preinstalled in it. So this should be clean, and I say should be.
    If anyone could confirm it using VMWare would be lovely.

    installed the August release and no problems whatsoever. u guys who claim it contains a virus or trojan either dl'd from a bad source or just freakin paranoid.

    if it does contain anything bad post some evidence before u start posting crap comments.

    This version has been done with nlite. When doing a fresh install, I pressed F6 to install the AHCI drivers. After windows boots up, from device manager, none of the installed F6 drives show up.

    Installed in a virtual machine. No serial required.
    Ran Malwarebytes Anti-Malware: no trojans or any other stuff found.
    Windows Update is working.
    Validation is passed as I was able to install WMP11.
