    why would anyone use Vista now that Windows 7 Beta was already out for months and everyone who has tried it will tell you it's 100 times better. When 7 goes retail sometime early in 2010 there will be no point in ever having Vista on any of your machines ever again. I'm still running the Windows 7 beta on my laptop and it's so much faster than it was with Vista which was installed on purchase.

    @"I made that mistake once. Never gonna do it again. Vista only looks nicer than XP"

    It really depends on your computer, but not only does Vista look nicer than XP, it also is inherently more safer. I dont reccommend it to users with crappy computers, no foul intended.

    I've been beta testing Windows 7 for months now, and it is really the best OS out there right now (Leopard is a very close second, but im a more of a Windows-centric user)

    If XP=Speed and Vista=Quality, Windows 7 is a perfect fusoin between the two. My Win7 X64 runs faster than my XP X64, And Vista X64. All my drivers work. All the software that worked with Vista works with 7. I highly reccomend all XP users to test it out.

    Windows 7 is what Vista should have been.

    @ 8

    Because it's beta and will stop working at some point. 1diot.

    I used XP when it was beta, when it expired, I got the pirated copy several times over…. world didn't come to an end
    When Vista was in beta, I used it and pirated it once it was RTM….sky didn't fall
    I am now using Windows 7, which expires in August. Once it goes to the market, I'll download the RTM, no problem.

    TO me, it looks like you don't know how to use a computer by calling someone an idiot because they recommend a beta.

    Ubuntu is a good OS, but I cant use it for any serious work, and wont use Gimp for any serious graphic work that I have. I've also gotten used to using lots of Windows applications that I dont have time to replace on linux.

    @lapax
    As for kicks, by using your logic, I should have stuck windows 2000, because, ON NOES I would have to install the OS again. Woe is me. You sound like a noob. Installations take 30 minutes…
    It's not about kicks. Its about using what I want, when I want, and how I want.

    my only Windows 7 problem is how the libraries work. I watch alot of movies on my PS3 through media share and the way Windows 7 adds media to the library is a pain. On Vista I move the video to the folder and my PS3 will pick it up Windows 7 wont do that until it is added to the library. That being said Vista is great for anyone that uses it for Media Center uses.

    Dude thats totally cool if you like using OS's that expire, but some of us don't. I know it feels a little better, i tried it in a vm for like a week, but Its just not worth it to me to have to worry about it expiring, I'll just wait for the real thing

    @11 There are hacks to stop the beta from expiring and use it until the RTM is out. The W7 beta is feature complete, the kernel is virtually RTM ready. The beta is less beta and more release candidate, that's how stable it is. Most of the work between now and RTM is backward compatibility testing and QA of 3rd party drivers, etc.

    I've got the January x64 rls- works well enough for me.

    Just remember to uncheck the "validate online" box during install (when it prompts for key).

    Otherwise, you're gonna have to do it again

    For those who has windows vista Oem activated "Home edtion " i don't recommend you to use "Ultimate" it will slow down your computer performance and press hard upon your RAM because windows vista ultimate uses a lot of RAM resources you need minimum 2.8 C2D processor and 2 GB of Ram for the Ultimate to run quick and normally so if you decided to ignore that please make sure you make a full backup for your operating system i recommend you to use acronis True Image
    but it is better to order the original backup CD from your Laptop Company
    have fun …

    @20

    The latest release of Windows 7 (7057 I think) fixes those problems in my experience… media now shows up on the PS3 straight away, just like it did with Vista :)

    Also, TVersity is working like a charm on Windows 7, so you could always just use that :)
