Newest version of Vista released by BIE again. Updates till January included.

This version includes all updates available until October 2008. Also it uses one of those so called OEM Bios hack methods, so just install it and enjoy. After installation you can use Windows Update and all features.

    Download, install (without serial) and that's it. Mike, you don't need to download vista every month, this release from BIE is the same as their older releases except it includes the new windows updates.

    I've instaled BIE's 64bit October release according to the nfo instructions but after about a month it pops a message saying that it is a pirated copy and that I should activate it immediately. Anybody knows what to do?

    i know the last time i had vista ultimate, it nearly killed my ipod for some strange reason.

    and since i've used windows 7, i've seen how it SHOULD be done.

    Sounds weird. Are you sure you didnt enter password for your account @ install point? That can cause it.

    19@ to my own opinion, windows 7 is poor still. There was some bugs which biggest was probably having to install every damn driver manually since installers somehow didnt work in 7000 build i tried (x64 version). Im sure x86 does not have those problems but since 8gb of memory and used to vista 64 bit I'd rather wait working 64 or buy legal from store.

    The problem you described killing your ipod, well I can say usually the cause of smth like that is the "thing" between the monitor and chair :p Ipod player never had any problems in vista. At this point Im sticking to vista64 and when "final build" of windows 7 will come out ill give it a try before buying, if its having problems Ill stick to vista as long as its needed (ie. when windows 7 gets it first big patch, like sp1, which caused vista to become very much the best (imo) system for gamer(s) like me with endtech hardware :)

    the thing with me is that i'm not a massive gamer and my system is fairly modest. I've got 2gb ram, a 3.33ghz Celeron, 400gb hard drive and an nvidia 7300le.

    I've got XP skinned to look like vista actually :)

    i do like vista, but i just can't really make up my mind if i want it or not – i think the ipod issue was more driver related than anything else truth be told.

    i might download anyway and by the time it's done i'll have made up my mind (or maybe not :D )

    Vi$ta = Ultimate Fail. Installing it is pretty much the equivalent of giving your computer AIDS and cancer at the same time.

    Why anyone would use this when XP runs faster is beyond me, XP is known to run 53% faster in ALL areas. Vi$ta hogs all your resources slowing your applications to a crawl, and when its working to hard it just BSOD's. Absolute garbage. There is really no pint in even using vi$ta unless for some reason you are trying to make your computer run like cr@p.

    I guess there will always be id1ots who drink the M$ kool aid, as shown by the amount of dullards who actually use this OS and think its good.

    Have you made "user accounts" after istallment? If it requires too much to find out, I would refresh the install with this one (as its the newest) and hope for the best. There's also smth called vista activator (which I havent used) available you can try: check here

    43@ x64 has 64bit core as title says, and x86 is for 32bit systems. x64=not really virus vulnerable, lot faster when using programs that maintain processor speed (example extracting) and probably main reason is that it recognizes more than 3.25gb of ram. X86 as 32bit handles only 3.25~Gb of memory (no its not 4gb, allocation tables end at 3.25).

    for people praising the windows xp over vista, really, take your damn heads out of your moms's asses already. It is NOT faster than vista on pc thats less than 2 years old and x64 version doubles the speed (in theory, and yes in use aswell by my own opinion) compared to normal xp. Not everyone is using computer that costs 100e. But as for anything, you use what you like the most and stop barking at other options if it doesnt fit your use (read=hardware).

    Last thing for those who think about this, every month there's new vista available. Basicly it is the same as the one you got 2 months ago from same grp and updated with thru windows update, except it has the updates IN IT already. So if you plan to do fresh install, do it with newest version and you save few seconds to jerk off example what you would use for windows update :z

    I'm currently using the release from October and I can confirm it works fine. No virus's found, no key needed, and it allows you to use windows update.

    BIE releases one every month, even though it says updates up to October, I'd imagine it's actually January and that's a typo.

    If you want to give Vista a shot like I did, this is a safe one to download.

    Does anyone knows how does the BIOS emulation + GRUB4DOS works?
    (yes, this release uses a GRUB loader to use BIOS emulation)

    Because my main problem is:
    I got Win XP (x64) but I want to install BIE's Vista (which works since I installed once, just follow the instructions!) and still be able to do a dual boot with XP.

    But since this "hack" erases MBR (Master Boot Record) from Windows and uses GRUB, didn't found yet someone that was able to dual boot

    any ideas?

    Vista handles RAM far more efficiently than XP does: it superfetches programs. But when your game or application uses enough RAM, Vista will relinquish some more for you to use in your game/app.
    Vista SP1 is on par, if not faster than XP SP3 with a good machine. And yes, that includes games.
    BSODs are usually caused by faulty hardware or bad drivers, which is not Vista's fault. It's the fault of third-party hardware and driver manufacturers.
    Running Vista 64 here, I don't have any problem with drivers, except once with the cheapo Airlink 101 card I got for free. Even then, it offered Vista 32 drivers that worked the last time around.

    I have identical benchmarks with three different XP builds, vs Vista, SP1 and Vista tweaked on the exact same machine. XP was MARGINALLY faster in only two areas, 3d hraphics performence. In every other area, disk write speed, memory management, processor management etc. Vista was slightly faster than XP.

    So for you to suggest XP is 53% faster and suggest that it is KNOWN to be that way, you are a complete liar, what utter rubbish. Typical lies from an XP fanboy who thinks he knows what he's talking about, and it's "n00b" not "nub" ya n00bie!

    Well XP was fine for computer that ran 8 years ago. with new processors ( hardware) vista scores better on the same hardware than XP. I have even loaded vista on a 8 year old laptop with 192mb ram pentium 400mhz processor and 10gb hard disk and it work fine can use it for all ms office applications as well. same machine with XP performed marginally better ( only during the boot sequence)

    IMO :
    *You XP fan don't know what crap your talking about cause you never could test a vista machine
    * you cannot afford new hardware
    * You do not know how to install and then tweak an operating system. ( not all machines are made same so a little bit effort is required)

    So i suggest ask someone who know's how to install and tweak vista to do it for and then see for your self what is better. Vista will then stay put on your computer.

    @61 DO you really think the latest vesrion of WIndows will be the answer? If so, it will be a first for MS, they have NEVER EVER release software that has been great out of the gate, you should at least wait until SP1, why would Win7 be the answer to all problems?

    People said the same thing when Win95 was out, I'll wait for Win98 (which was useless until second Edition), then it was "can't wait for Win2K" which was also useless until SP1. Then it was XP which was an absolute horror show before SP2, then Vista which was also buggy for some until SP1.

    So why do you think Win7 will answer your problems? By then, Vista SP1 or 2 will be the one to beat, just watch MS history and it all repeats itself over and over again.

    If you play the game of OS fear, and buy into all the BS about OS's that these "fear of change, fanboys" spew, waiting until something new solves the last OS's issues, you'll be waiting forever, and stuck with Win3.11 for workgroups on an old 386.
