Microsoft Windows Vista SP1 Update 32Bit RTM Build 6001.18000 Read NFO-nDn

Vista fans, yup here is it! Long awaited Service Pack 1 in RTM version released by nDn (funny is, they are movie group mainly). What RTM - “Release To Manufacturing” does stands for? Well, in short it’s exact same version which will appear in March aka final version. Check wiki for more details about RTM. Keep in mind that this is only Service Pack 1 itself, it’s not Vista SP1 ISO! So, you can download it and install on any (32bit) Vista edition. Also make sure to READ NFO for more details & explanation. For those ones who have pirated copy of Vista (well, who doesn’t?), I’m not sure will this work with that popular OEM BIOS emulation crack by PARADOX (Microsoft’s states something like - No way dude). Anyway, try it out and drop us a comment…

UPDATE: I’ve personally tested this release with Microsoft.Windows.Vista.Ultimate.X86.OEM.DVD.READ.NFO-NoPE (one of those which uses OEM BIOS cracking method), fresh Vista install + this SP1 and all i can say is that works fine (still says it’s genuine). Here is a proof.

UPDATE 2: Ok, this is for all those non-believers…
Proof 1: If you go to installers file properties and check version it says 6001.17028 indeed, but if you extract that installer and check the file versions inside it actually shows 6001.18000! Look Here.
Proof 2: Goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion
Look at the “BuildLabEx” string… It says:
6001.18000.x86fre.longhorn_rtm.080118-1840
Proof 3: The directx is listed in dxdiag as DirectX10 and not 10.1 but if you look in your system32 folder you see that 2 new files has appeared: d3d10_1.dll & d3d10_1core.dll which means directx10.1 is included!
Want more?!

@OsT Vista benchmarks faster than XP believe it or not.

The trick is disabling Aero and Indexing. With those two unnecessarily stupid resource consuming cum dumpsters, vista is suppper faster than XP. and with SP1, its even faster

I always ad-hoc my laptop’s internet connection to my desktop comp, after installing this update, I’m getting one hell of a problem preventing me from sharing the internet connection. The software I use for connecting to the internet cannot detect my modem. If anyone here uses a wireless passport card for their internet, do NOT install this service pack.

For them who want to give Vista a try..
Myself are not going to Install this SP1 pack as I’m not going
to ever use Vista again as I don’t like it.
and so am not sure this will work or not….but linked it
anyhow. (this be for Swe people) not sure it work for English
or not but maybe it do.
    Good luck.

Myself will wait until XP SP3 come out in original as I’m
on Original XP and as long as it work I’m going to go with
it and then wait for Windows 7 to be released….and if it
suck and if XP stops to be updated then I’ll go with a
Mac or Linux instead…but am going to use XP as long as
it are updated and if then whatever new OEM are released
and if it are good after that -well it will make up my
    mind for it then-

    OK!
I have installed this Vista Service pack 1 on one of my machines flawlessly. When i tried installing it on my other vista system it encountered an error and the update process was canceled but not before displaying an error prompt which told me to visit this site for help.
    http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=101139

Here is what is displayed on there:
“This article discusses a beta release of a Microsoft product. The information in this article is provided as-is and is subject to change without notice.
No formal product support is available from Microsoft for this beta product. For information about how to obtain support for a beta release, see the documentation that is included with the beta product files, or check the Web location where you downloaded the release.”

no this has left me wondering whether this is in fact the final RTM version of Vista SP1 or NOT!?!?!

Is there a particular reason rlslog is choosing to ignore theMicrosoft.Windows.XP.SP3.Build.3300. release pn 6th Feb?
Winbeta is the name of the group I know but the release is no beta it is a final release.

M$ are playing mean buggers with XP updates nowadays , they won’t let those who refuse to contribute to the Bill and Melindy rich prick fund download updates any more.
I would have thought that many of rlslog’s users (particularly gamers) still use XP and would like to take advantage of the better performance on offer.

    February 7th, 2008 | 12:26

Did you guys read one of the last bullets in the changelog? This might mean that this “beta” won’t interfere with your pirated copy of Vista, but the final SP1 release might:

“Also coming with SP1 but not in the current release candidate, we will also be including updates that deal with two exploits we have seen, which can affect system stability for our customers. The OEM Bios exploit, which involves modifying system files and the BIOS of the motherboard to mimic a type of product activation performed on copies of Windows that are pre-installed by OEMs in the factory. The Grace Timer exploit, which attempts to reset the “grace time” limit between installation and activation to something like the year 2099 in some cases.”

    February 7th, 2008 | 12:29

If u are worried about this sp1 screwing up your OEM crack or the OS it self, use something like acronis true image to backup your OS.
Then install sp1 if it stops working put the backup back on.

Nothing is lost. Then wait for working crack.

  51. chris
    February 7th, 2008 | 12:34

    @155

ure right, most ppl still dont use this its sad

    anyway:
-sp1 uses 1,2-1,4 gb of hd space on your C: drive
-ram usage is still the same
-file copying is definitely a lot faster (also on usb drives)

for the rest: hard to tell if it makes any difference

Last time I checked, it was running at 788MB :P Maybe I have to reboot, this is the first time the pc restarted to go into Windows after installing… I honestly see my system being the exact same, nothing different. Sorry for the big psot. delete it if u want

    GENERAL IMPROVEMENTS & ENHANCEMENTS

    · SP1 includes a number of changes which allow computer manufacturers and consumers to select a default desktop search program similar to the way they currently select
defaults for third-party web browsers and media players. That means that in addition to the numerous ways a user could access a third party search solution in Windows Vista, they can now get to their preferred search results from additional entry points in the Start Menu and Explorer Windows in Windows Vista with SP1. 3rd party software vendors simply need to register their search application using the newly provided protocol in Windows Vista SP1 to enable these options for their customers.

    · With SP1, Windows Vista will report the amount of system memory installed rather than report the amount of system memory available to the OS. Therefore 32-bit systems equipped with 4GB of RAM will report all 4GB in many places throughout the OS, such as the System Control Panel. However, this behavior is dependent on having a compatible BIOS, so not all users may notice this change.

    · SP1 reduces the number of UAC (User Account Control) prompts from 4 to 1 when
Notable Changes in Windows Vista Service Pack 1
creating or renaming a folder at a protected location.

    · Improvements in the Licensing User Interface and User Experience including more details in the help about activation and what happens if user does not activate; more detailed and descriptive dialog text; raw error codes replaced with easily comprehensible text.

    · SP1 modifies the text in the Ultimate Extras Control Panel to describe the Ultimate Extras program in more general terms.

    · Upon scanning a photo with the Vista scanning experience, SP1 will open Explorer rather than opening Windows Photo Gallery.

    · Users are now required to enter a password hint during the initial setup of Windows Vista SP1. This change was made based on feedback from top PC manufactures that many customers frequently do not remember their password and because the administrator account is turned off by default on Windows Vista, these users do not have a way to access to their PCs. A password hint helps avoid this frustrating scenario.

    · Improves compatibility with 3rd party diagnostic tools that rely on raw sockets by applying the same delivery logic to control (ICMP v4 and v6) and regular packages.

    · With SP1, Microsoft differentiates the experience customers have using non-genuine versions of our software. This is based on feedback we heard from volume license customers in particular as part of our Windows Genuine Advantage program. Further details can be found in an interview with Microsoft Corporate Vice President Mike Sievert: http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/features/2007/dec07/12-03wga.mspx

    · SP1 also includes updates that deal with two exploits we have seen, which can affect system stability for our customers –
o The OEM Bios exploit, which involves modifying system files and the BIOS of the motherboard to mimic a type of product activation performed on copies of Windows that are pre-installed by OEMs in the factory.
o The Grace Timer exploit, which attempts to reset the “grace time” limit between installation and activation to something like the year 2099 in some cases.

I have a question, if I install vista nope version right and this update only, does this sp1 update have all the hotfixes and updates that microsoft has currently enabled since it’s release on windows update web site, or I also have to install all updates on windows update web site. In other words, does this release have all the current updates plus the extra updates that are in sp1?
