Anyone have any NZB's for this yet?

SteveT I do not think you can upgrade from the 7100 RC version to this version. Also even if you could I would say a clean install is best as this is like 12+ builds higher then what the RC is.

John,This is the latest version of windows. Unless you use the rearm trick this copy will last for 30 days until activated or the trial extended with -rearm.

  16. July 18th, 2009 | 20:15

funny enough i searched on ms site for "build 7600" and this is what i got, http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itprogeneral/thread/fd2d96ae-aaa3-49c1-a287-0bddbd21c425

Pirated Version of Windows 7 Has Malware Built-in

    Update 7/16/2009:

Some torrent download locations have what appears to be Build 7600 available for download describing it as the RTM Build.
This is NOT the official RTM Build. This version is a copy of the Release Candidate build 7100 that has been hacked to show the build number as 7600. The official RTM Build is still being tested and will not be finished until it is released later this month

This is not the final .iso that customers will receive. It is a testing version for ms partners is currently time limited (30 days). I would wait for a final .iso from microsoft (will take some more days / weeks) because you will probably need to reinstall at some point because updates are very unlikely to work with this version.

I guess I'll upgrade my videocard soon.

Hmm… I dunno, I had and earlier build and then installed to the build I'm using now and I had to edit a config file or something so I could install over top it. Now if only I could remember what file that was and what build to change the value to. I'm in the process of downloading this build right now so hopefully I don't have to do that and can just hit install straight from the dvd but I guess I'll have to wait and see.

  65. wd40

With the RTM builds I don't think you can upgrade from a RC build. I tried that from 7232 to 7260 and it wouldn't allow me to.

    @117, You are WRONG.
Beta stage code was already finalized when they released the RC to Public.
Even the Microsoft has announced that gold code (RTM) will be release sometime July 2009.
You are EVEN more wrong, since Microsoft has already announced that retail release is going to be in October.

Read this blog from Windows Employee:
    http://windowsteamblog.com/blogs/windows7/default.aspx

BTW, People who keep spurting "i will wait for SP1" and keep thinking "oh there must be heaps of bugs…."
That is a thing of the past! I've been using a Beta copy 7000 build.
And believe me, Windows 7 even at 7000 build (early beta), was MORE stable and better than Windows Vista when it release to retail.

Even at build 7000, the awesome stability, I reckon if Microsoft wanted to, they can release it back then and even get away with it. Since its more stable than Vista even at such a early stage.

Any build after 7000 had their kernel revamped and optimized for speed. Pre 7000 builds were still using the Vista Kernel since it was just a "proof of concept" build to show off some features that will be implemented in Windows 7.

Windows 7 has already been proved by many techos and benchmarkers online that it is infact faster than Vista, and most tests match the speed of XP or EVEN better than XP.

I can testify since i started using W7 x64 i had almost 0 issues. The only thing that gave me problems was the video driver and that was because i was too stuborn trying to install a modded one.

It's been a fun ride so far, performance is way higher than Vista and i would dare to say better than XP. In fact, games i tried to play unsuccesfully on XP worked with higher framerate on W7 (using same set of video drivers).

I, for one, think MS did something right for once.

  93. filip007
    July 19th, 2009 | 04:55

Yesterday the other PC with XP shows Genuine logo on desktop and black screen i acivate back, auto updates was disabled looks like M$ randomly checks what you have.

Windows 7 is like other Windows OS, slower and want more hardware dont want'it. If you rule out games we don't need Windows for any other home stuff.

Folks, instead of second guessing MS's release management process, why not just wait for the Windows Team to make the official announcement and then download a genuine leaked copy. A genuine copy is more likely to be leaked from within the US, EU or India.

Or, club together with some mates and share the cost of MSDN Operating Systems subscription. Windows 7 is worth paying a $100.

Every huge software project will have a lot of bugs in the beginning. For example WindowsXP still needs to be fixed nowadays (it is 9 years in development now!). As long as testing is limited to few you will find the obvious bugs but those hidden ones will survive. Thats why waiting for a SP1 is a good idea for ppl that want to use Win7 on productive / critical Systems.
Remember the worm that shut down like millions of XP Systems? Though you can never be sure that such a hole in Win7 exists but it gets more unlikely the more it is used / tested by users and hackers.
If it was 100% save there would be no ActivationCrack either :)

all this nonsense about waiting for SP1 is just that, nonsense…

if you're worried about security holes… well the OS you're running right now probably has a few… doesn't mean you should format and go back to windows 3.0 does it? Infact, if you're all so worried about security… why are you even running windoze? get linux.

windows 7 seems to be what vista should have been… i tested the RC build on a 'made for vista' laptop (dual booted vista/win7) and win 7 ran practically everything with no compatibility issues and better performance…

so yeah… Win 7 > Vista/XP…. feel free to upgrade. yes there will be patches.. but i'm sure your current windows restarted from a patch a few days ago.

Sigh…THIS IS NOT THE RTM!! According to Steve Malkowitz (my contact inside Microsoft) the RTM WILL NOT BE RELEASED UNTIL THE FIRST WEEK IN SEPTEMBER! They are doing this to try and keep this off the net until they can get this in the stores for the October sales. ANYONE who claims this is the RTM is too damn stupid to own a computer. Even Maximum PC and PC Computing CONFIRMED the release date is in September. Until then the final version is going through some last minute tweaks and then will be placed under lock and key until it is to be released. Microsoft has quite a bit riding on this and is taking NO chances on ANYONE causing them problems.

Oh, and BTW…NONE of the workarounds you have used so far will work on the final version and that has been confirmed as well. Don't you think for one second that MS already knows about these and since they know about these have already made a correction to stop these from being used? So personally I dont see what the big fuss is as you are NOT going to get a final version till after the first week in September. So stop acting like n00bs!

@147, you must like to live dangerously. EVERY release from MS (even the beta ones that this is made from) has stated that they will cease working in January of 2010. So since you are that ignorant, here it is directly from Microsoft themselves!

" Users will begin to experience unpleasant interruptions

As forewarned, if you are among the millions who downloaded the Windows 7 beta and you haven't since upgrade to the Windows 7 Release Candidate (RC), you are about to experience unpleasant service interruptions. In lieu of an October 22 release, and a wrap-up for the RC phase, Microsoft began the end of life process for the beta release today.

Starting today users running the beta version of the OS will have their system shut down every two hours. Microsoft is urging users who stuck with the beta to jump to the release candidate, which includes a number of additional features and refinements. Writes Microsoft's Brandon LeBlanc in a Windows team blog post, "If you're still on the Windows 7 Beta you should certainly look at giving the Windows 7 RC at try!"

For those enjoying the free Release Candidate, the good times will roll until June 1, 2010, when the RC build will cease to function, forcing users to purchase the new OS (or revert to Vista/XP). The RC download program ends August 15.

Microsoft's Windows 7 is currently in its second week of the pre-order program, which is nearing its end. The pre-order program will end on Saturday, July 11. Users can still snag a pre-order copy of Home Premium upgrade for a mere $49.99 or Professional for $99.99. Once the pre-order expires, these upgrade prices will jump to $119.99 and $199.99 respectively, with Ultimate edition being priced at $219.

Pre-orders will soon also available still in UK, Japan, France, and Germany. For EU customers, the pre-orders are especially sweet as they allow Europeans to snag the OS at its cheapest full-retail prices. In the European Union Microsoft will not be offering an upgrade SKU, but will be offering full retail versions at the same price as the upgrade versions in America. The international pre-order program runs from July 15 to August 14."

Those Windows XP Troglodytes should stop spamming a really great OS that Windows 7 is. Windows XP is dead, junk and obsolete and is a major stopping factor for Microsoft to really transform the PC to a modern 21st century personal computer. If you havent seen the videos at channel9 that show all the new great features that 7 has, you should right now, XP MUST DIE as soon as possible so we can take advantage of all the new powerfull hardware we have and some new fantastic applications that use 7's brand new tech appear. Windows 7 is the XP Killer, and the vehicle to a new generation of windows applications and games.

Why would I be scared because these versions will stop working in 2010? I will prob re-format and re-install my OS at least 3 more times by then. So, if there is still not a working fix for these by then I will just roll back to something that is working. I dual boot between this and XP anyway, so at worst I would just use that.

Ok some interesting find, after installing this version for 1 hour, AVG picked up a rather interesting Worm that duplicates itself within the computer. After some futhur investigation under WOW64 system folder theres a socks.exe, to my knowledge it is NOT a windows system file, and alot of common viruses disgusts itself as this process, upon removal, I've made sure the chances of this file leaking into my OS via network is very slim.
