Crbs has released ”Windows 7 Starter edition” . They recommend this version of small pc’s, laptop, netbooks, noteboks. I use it on my Acer Aspire One d 250 and I have to say it runs better, battery latest longer and it has all functions I need. This version is simple to use and small. Enjoy this new release. ;) Read Nfo for installation instructions.

    Starter is useless. I am using Windows 7 Professional on my Asus Eee PC 900a & have full Aero effects, 5 second start-up, & all the features of a desktop on my netbook. There is absolutely NO reason to have or use the Starter Edition when the regular versions works just fine.

    This release of Win7 Starter Edition is actually involved for either small sized screens PCs and low-cost machines, like 10" laptops, and this causes me to reject it for my bigger one where I have installed W7 Ultimate working undoubtedly fantastic and experienced much better performance than XP and Vista in games particularly. Microsoft surprisingly intends to cut off the highest price of W7-vens in contrary to earlier Windows OS-es, which cost is even higher than those ones like most powerful XP including most futures.

    Step by step(cliff notes):
    1.Backup anything important.

    2.Burn dvd.

    3.Boot from Dvd

    4.Install from DVD.
    If you are on xp, need to do fresh install so format your drive, don't want to crap up your pc… If you are running Vista, you should be using the regular win7 ultimate DVD, nothing here for you, pretty much same steps unless you want to upgrade(don't recommend that though, go fresh..)

    5.Enjoy.

    Risk: None if you backed up your stuff.

    Good info from NextLevel, the safest thing to do is a complete hard drive backup with Acronis True Image Home v11.0.8101 (the later versions may have registration probs) Search for it here.

    If you have Windows XP consider yourself lucky! Don't install this or any other version of Win 7. Ask yourself, why do most companies remove Vista (7 too) and install XP?
    Answer it's faster, more stable, and works with more hardware and software. Resist the hype and do some research, you'll be glad you did.
    Secondly, this version may work for now but MS will soon know you're pirating they're stuff and you'll end up jumping through hoops every couple of months, likely picking up a trojan while testing all the new cracks. It's just not worth it.
    If it's modern look your after grab a new shell32.dll etc (deviantart.com has good stuff) it'll cost you less than 5MB of RAM unlike this abomination.

    Get a life, nothing wrong with Vista now after the initial probs (which happen on first release of evey new OS).
    Why would companies remove Windows 7 when it's not available yet, you just jumping on the "its crap" bandwagon.
    Finally, why not try it out and if its good BUY IT! if you can't be arsed to "fix" it.

    Agree with #45, much easier. But some like to experiment. #42 If you have 1 gig of ram or close and a fast video card you should be able to run the Windows 7 Ultimate from BIE.

    You are the one who should evolve, what are you 45? it seems like that and you don't want to move forward with time, why don't you use windows 95 instead? It will use like 10 mb for you if you can't afford 2 gb of RAM nowadays.

    I got the 4 rar file one, but every time I unzip it, it says "next volume is required" an ask for "crbstart.r25" an if u select any file(even if counted out, the 25th file still just unzips an then ask for it again), it just unzips as said, an ask for the file again an again, till it says that the random file you selected is not it or corrupt. Any answers to that?

It already has Win7 32bit *and a bunch of crapware from companies like Ebay and McCaffee* My question is 1/ is this warez release 32bit and 2/ how to install when the Aspire doesn’t actually have a DVD-ROM? (Although I have a good USB LiteOn DVD-ROM/Burner, it that helps… Thanks for all your effort!
