Microsoft Windows 7 RC1 Build 7100 x86 DVD-iND

Here’s the RC1 for Windows 7. Both 32 and 64 bit versions released by iND! Enjoy

Description:
Over the past few years, you’ve asked us to make some changes to Windows. We listened closely. Now it’s time to share an early look at how we’ve used your feedback. Windows 7 is faster, more reliable, and makes it easier to do what you want. Both the everyday things and the killer “is that really possible?” things. Windows 7 was built around your feedback, so you’ll see a lot of things you’ve asked for. You asked us to make everyday tasks faster and easier, make your PC work the way you want it to, and make new things possible. And that’s exactly what we’re doing.

Improved taskbar and full-screen previews

The taskbar at the bottom of your screen is what you use to switch between the applications you’ve got open. In Windows 7 you can set the order in which the icons appear and they’ll stay put. They’re easier to see, too. Click once on the new large icons or bigger preview thumbnails and you’re ready to go. You can even see a full screen preview before switching to the window.

Jump Lists

With Windows 7, we focused on keeping the things you use most right in front of you. One example: The new Jump List feature. It’s a handy way to quickly reach the files you’ve been working with. To see the files you’ve used recently, just right click on the icon on your taskbar. So right-clicking on the Word icon will show your most recent Word documents. Plus, if there are other files you want to keep handy, you can just pin them to the Jump List.

Internet Explorer 8

Available now, Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2 helps you do what you want online, faster. With innovations to the address bar, search, tabs, and the Favorites bar, Internet Explorer 8 brings you more information, with less effort.

Windows Live

With Windows 7, some features previously included in the operating system are now available for download through Windows Live Essentials, a set of free applications available for your PC and supported by Windows 7. You can download Windows Live Messenger, Photo Gallery, Mail, Writer, Movie Maker, and more. With these great applications, you can improve your Windows experience, and benefit from faster delivery of these features and services.

Windows 7 is faster then XP???
XP is proved to be over 19% faster then Windows 7 on quad-core!
I am happy with my XP, because is light years ahead on perforce, it is lightweight, has most part of the kernel copied from IBM(OS/2).
People are blind!!! People wants the new, but the new is not always better.

It’s been confirmed that Windows 7 Build 7100 is the official RC release. Complied on 21 April 2009 it is tagged as 7100.0.winmain_win7rc .090421-1700. More recent internal builds have been released, but 7100 is the official RC build.

The Windows 7 Release Candidate will be available for download on May 5th, although expect it to be leaked before then particualarly as MSDN and Technet subscribers will get it beforehand. Already fake torrents have been seen in the wild.

Builds 71XX will be based on RC1, and RC2 builds expected around August 2009 will be Builds 72XX. Given the pace of Windows 7’s development, if I were a betting man, I would put money in on the Windows 7 Release Date being before Christmas 2009.

Why the hell doesn't Microsoft just add another service pack to Windows XP and be done with it. Vista and Windows 7 isn't even necessary. If Windows 7 goes over as big as Vista, Microsoft might as well just quit the OS business. Windows XP is just fine. One of the best products MS has ever produced. They could just keep upgrading it forever. Add a few interface tweaks and it's just as good as a whole new OS. All this new Windows 7 OS stuff is just a way to extort money from gullible Windows nerds seduced by the better, much faster, more stable, get more women spiel

Exploit Allows Complete Control Of Windows 7 Machine

With Windows being the predominant operating system in the world, it's no surprise that it has the widest number of hacks and attacks aimed at it. As a result, Windows is often considered the least secure operating system by some users.

Windows 7 is out as a beta and the final version is expected sometime this year or early next year. Microsoft has also started to circulate the latest release candidate build of the operating system among developers and testers. Despite the fact that the operating system isn't officially available yet, a pair of security researchers have already shown a way that a computer running Windows 7 can be completely taken over during the boot process.

Researchers Vipin Kumar and Nitin Kumar have demonstrated proof-of-concept code that the pair developed called VBootkit 2.0. The software injects code into the Windows machine during boot up and allows the complete takeover of the machine and access to all files on the system.

Vipin Kumar said, "There's no fix for this. It cannot be fixed. It's a design problem."

Network World reports that while the attack allows a nefarious user to completely take over a Windows 7 computer, the attack is not a serious threat since it can’t be carried out remotely. A hacker would have to gain direct access to the computer to initiate the hack. The injected software allowing the takeover of the computer would also be erased after a reboot.

However, if the hacker had direct access to the computer, the hack would be very hard to trace. The file size needed to execute the attack is very small at 3KB and makes changes to the Windows files loaded at boot; no files are changed on the computer's hard drive. This makes the VBootkit 2.0 software very difficult to detect.

The latest version of the software allows the attacker to increase their user privileges up to the system level and they can remove a user's password giving access to all of the user's files. Once the attack is complete, the software restores the user's password to ensure the attack can’t be detected.

I don't care. Every OS can be hacked with direct access!

    Luigi @ #56,

Was an interesting article in reference to the original post. There is a venerability that cannot be fixed with Win7.

And of course if you have direct access, you might as well consider yourself hacked – the OS doesn't matter…?

Can any of *you* guys be more stupid? Really, tell me cause i don't know! The year is 2009 and STILL there are some VERY VERY STUPID people claiming that Windows XP it's better, faster, smaller and more reliable than Vista, and more important than Windows 7?! Come one guys, XP was built over Win 2000 its more than 9 years old, how the h3ll it's supposed to still use that OS and keep up with the rest of the world?! Take a look at KDE (Linux) it's ALWAYS evolving, same as Gnome and many others. If we kept using all our OLD stuff where could we buy the latest U2 (just an example) album in tape?! By the way, why using DVD's if we can use the good old VHS players?! Like it or not it's time for a change, XP it's not dead but almost. You can grab a copy of Ubuntu and kick XP ass with it! If you don't have the resources for a Win VISTA/7 capable PC it's ok, stick with XP or best like ReactOS, but, DON'T flame better pieces of software just cause you're stuck in the past. Keep in mind: Better OS's need better hardware, better hardware needs better engineers, better engineers needs better education which might be more expensive but in ultimate order leads to a BETTER future!

Windows 7 is very fast. I'm running it on a P4 2.6, 1.5 GB pc2100 ram. It is running awesome.

But I've never had any problems with vista 64 bit though. Quad core, 4GB DDR3 1600 ram. However I didn't get Vista until SP1 was released.

I believe Windows 7 is what Microsoft wanted for Vista but ran out of time so they release it as Vista, the memory hog. Windows 7 is what Vista should have been.

7 is awesome. Give it a try.

Windows 95 is much faster than Windows XP. XP is bloated and uses a lot of memory! Windows 95 is light years ahead on perforce, it is lightweight. It runs great even on old computers. People are blind!!! People wants the new, but the new is not always better.

I`ve installed it and i strongly recommend to all of you using the older Windows 7 version, upgrade to this one coz its more stable and less bugy, i was in the first one downloading this version from tpb and i m very happy with it, its 10%+++ faster than 7077, finnaly i can feel real differences :)

    April 25th, 2009 | 01:45

I'm looking forward to seeing the RTM build of Win7. I wouldn't expect it to be significantly faster than XP, but if it's close I'll be damn happy; you don't get new features without a performance hit. Vista just irked the hell out of me; once you look past the bling it's a horrible OS. Hopefully Microsoft gets it right this time around.

My machine has the muscle (3.7GHz quad), but I stuck with XP because it just plain works with zero issues and no f'ing around making things work. If the RTM version 7 can say the same, I'll happily toss Ye Olde XP into the trash. Here's hoping…

  81. Vista is better than XP
    April 25th, 2009 | 02:19

For anyone still using Widows XP………..Just take a chance and upgrade to Vista Ultimate and actually stick with it long enough and you will find its actually a better operating system. Oh i know your all sittin there sayin its to bugy and has to many flaws, but have you tried actually updating windows components? you will find it fixes those problems.

Ive been using vista ultimate x64 for the last year and i love it, i have no problem with it at all.

I was always hesitant myself to upgrade from XP to Vista, but i eventually did and i have no regrets.

Well thats just my opinion anyway.

    Anyone else like using Vista???

  82. sghsfgh
    April 25th, 2009 | 03:12

@94: Nah. Millions of us are. It's just the few whiners (comprised mostly of people who didn't even try it and bash it based on hearsay) who are making a lot of noise.

People who love Win7 (as in Vista Second Edition) and Hate Vista make me laugh. There's not that much difference between both.

That being said, Win7 is a nice incremental update.

XP works great for me. Who needs this repackaged Vista that runs like a brick and needs twice as much memory?

  84. bk109
    April 25th, 2009 | 03:38

Yep,Nr.94,It's been the same with my Vista32bit. At first I upgraded to it on a dare and then I stuck with it,for what,2 year now. I think that the only problem with Vista is that too many people switched over to it the second it hit the shelves(or Rlslog) and getting surprised by how bug-prone was it during the first couple of months… And after that, the bad word of mouth just kept going,as if noone remembers the XP in its initial incarnation (like catching 12 viruses during the post-install first hour) or the fact that the XP was still a vast improvement over the MoronEd. So a word of advice to all Vista bashers, try actually running the SP1 version for a couple of days and then make qualifications on which is better.

I have to say, Vista is my favorite (obviously I have a computer that can handle it, as I'm not complaining like the whiners who can't afford to upgrade their systems to something post-2004). I'm looking forward to working with Windows 7 (and am curious as to what it's release name will be).
