    wow, this is late getting posted here. I guess "up2date" had to wait for to leak on torrents first b4 they could upload it to usenet.
    7227 has been out for days, and here is the deal:
    7227 was sent out as a VHD only from MS
    End users (not microsoft) ran the VHD, exported it to an iso using build 7201 as the base for install.

    So yes, it's real, and it's fake.

    @36: Actually, Vista was its own, then with Service Pack 1 is changed to the Server 2008 codebase. This is based off of the Server 2008 codebase as well. So you would be more correct in saying that this is a pretty version of Server 08. Which is still incorrect, but it is closer to the truth than "This is based off of Vista". Your comments show that you know absolutely nothing about computer except regurgitated knowledge from some other n00b you heard say something. Do yourself and everyone else a favor and stop talking.

    I read somewhere the RTM date is end of July (like July 30), so it could be leaked at the beginning of August, just in time to reach pirates before Snow Leopard (unless someone leaks that one early too.. then it could be a tie)

    BUILD 7230 is leaking tonight. Even though this build installs showing old rtm this is truly a virtualized pack of the 7227 private beta.

    Unless you are REAL eager to install this, wait until 7230 leaks tonight/tomorrow.

    Real or not, why even bother with the 32 bit version? If you have really old hardware without 64 bit driver support you shouldn't even be considering running anything newer than XP anyway.

    actually if you want to get technical, Vista is based on 2k8 from the get-go.. it was a spinoff of the longhorn project which was initially designed as a server project, NOT a home user project. back after XP was released two projects were started LONGHORN and BLACKCOMB, LONGHORN was for the SEREVER OS and BLACKCOMB for the HOME USER OS.

    As for Windows 7 being based off Vista, thats complete rubbish, it has a certain Vista feel insofar as graphical design, but the codebase isnt anything like vista, doesnt run like vista, and isnt unstable like vista. I dont understand how it is that you n00bas take a preconceived notion and decide that its fact and then feel you need to run around and try and convince everyone else that your delusions are reality…

    It says SP1 because it's from the sp1-branch. That means it from the team that works on features or fixes that are not going to make it into RTM but instead are to be released later.

    ok guys i am a bit new to this discussion… but can anyone tell me the xp compatibility mode… which requires you to download the whole xp and install into a virtual os provided within the rc…
    has any tried this… or anyone clarify…
