Releaselog

Microsoft Windows 7 Build 6519 M1 DVD-MSBP

With Windows Vista finally behind us, it’s time to turn our attention to the next Windows client release, which is currently codenamed Windows “7″, though Microsoft has used other code-names, like “Vienna” and “Windows Seven” in the past. This release is the early build which was showcased at a conference back in January ‘08. Remember to read .nfo first before installing. Enjoy.

Easier. Windows 7 will make it easier for users to find and use information. Local, network and Internet search functionality will converge. Intuitive user experiences will be further advanced. Automated application provisioning and cross-application data transparency will be integrated.

More secure. Windows 7 will include improved security and legislative compliance functionality. Data protection and management will be extended to peripheral devices. Windows 7 will advance role-based computing scenarios and user-account management, and bridge the inherent conflicts between data protection and robust collaboration. It will also enable enterprise-wide data protection and permissions.

Better connected. Windows 7 will further enable the mobile workforce. It will deliver anywhere, anytime, any device access to data and applications. It will enable a robust ad-hoc collaboration experience. Wireless connectivity, management and security functionality will be expanded. The performance and functionality of current and emerging mobile hardware will be optimized. The multiple device sync, management and data protection capabilities in Windows will be extended. Finally, Windows 7 will enable flexible computing infrastructures including rich, thin and network-centric models.

Lower cost. Windows 7 will help businesses optimize their desktop infrastructure. It will enable seamless OS, application and data migration, and simplified PC provisioning and upgrading. It will further efforts towards non-disruptive application updating and patching. Windows 7 will include improved hardware- and software-based virtualization experiences. And it will expand the PC self-help and IT Pro problem resolution diagnostics in Windows.

LOL at the idiot saying xp is faster then vista. My first vista computer (pentium D 2GB ram) I used for a year without a single problem. When I bought a new pc, I gave my old one to my dad, but because he wasnt familiar with vista I downgraded to xp and guess what? Everything from start up times to programs loading was significantly slower than vista on the same exact hardware. Got rid of XP and put vista back on, and my dad loves it. He even asks why his computer starts up so much faster and runs better than my mothers xp machine which has basically the same hardware minus 1/2 GB of ram.

All the people who hate on Vista are just loosers who can’t afford a real computer and/or a legit copy of the operation system. i’ve had it on my laptop since i bought it over a year ago and it is fine, i have xp on my 2 desktops and never use them anymore. Just get a real computer or stop your whining!

Vista is ok…i was getting bsod alot with it but i upgraded from housebrand ddr2 ram to kingston ddr2 667 overclocked to 680mhz and no more bsod….with all the “eye candy” turned off in vista you can get some really good performance out of it…i have it using less than 500mb of my 2gb of ram and it runs like a dream

I can pretty much guarantee that once this OS comes out, everyone will be saying Vista is up there with the Holy Bible, and the new one is flawed to hell, then when the next OS comes out after that, 7 will be the greatest thing to ever leave the mind of Allah, repeat, wash, rinse.

    WinME: crap (=vista pt1)
WinXP: pretty good after patching (win 2000 pt 2)
    Vista: crap
Win7: ?? Cant be as bad as 2000 or vista, or can it?

I might even try out Vista once I get my new ram blocks since XP can’t support over 4GB of ram unless I buy a new version of it.

    @107

that’s just untrue-I have 2 legit copies of vista-one on a custom machine (AMD X2 4200+ , 2GB Ram, Nvidia 8600GTO) and an Acer Laptop (Intel Core 2 Duo , 2GB Ram, Intel GMA X3100)

and I have replaced Vista on both with XP, as Vista was incompatible with my software. I build and use computers for a living.

Vista is ok for your grandma or the basic user… but anyone where performance and productivity is important.

microsoft themselves have acknowledged vista is junk, you just can’t admit that after placing your money and faith into it.

I use windows only for games and at work, where I don’t get a say in what software we run. (still using ie6 FFS!) Sort of the story with all *nix & mac users who play games. I would actually gain alot of respect for MS if they built a “games edition” *doze that took less than 100mb of ram and only ran dx10/graphics driver/etc (the bare minimum.) Defender? Firewall? UAC? Clippy? Fack off! MS is actually building an open source OS (not windows) for research purposes only. Would be nice if we could encourage ms to fork that project and create my idea of a games edition.. as this would be open source code built from the ground-up.

*Sigh* who am i kidding. MS will bloat the os, create a stupid interface [are you sure you want to throw that brick at me?] Yes [Really?] ARGH!!! and I will get idiots like the ones on this forum telling me Yo! vista is ok just install 4gb of ram for $69! 4gb? think that will be enough to run notepad? and play some mp3’s, use firefox? It better, ‘cuz when ms pulls support and stops patching winxp, you will remember just how much of a bietch it is to be using the most insecure OS in the history of computing.

Wow, mostly complaints… and most of you seem to have no idea what you’re talking about.

    * Based on the release name, this is Milestone 1. Its not even Beta yet - its more like an Alpha. MS have only just begun to add features.

    * Since its so early in the development cycle, the UI will be mostly unchanged. The UI is the last thing to be updated - MS always does this, and its the right thing to do. Therefore, it will look like Vista.

    * All non-final versions of Windows have a set time limit. Get over it.

    * Re-writing Windows from scratch would take at least a decade. Even OSX wasn’t coded from scratch - it took most of its code from NeXT, which in turn was based on BSD (been around since the 1970s).

i just switched back to xp, it was time for a reformate and i wanted to compare since ive been running vista for about 6 months. ill be honest, i like vista, it networks easy, it burns dvd;s without an external program, and i was very surprised to see my time coded dj setup ran smoother and better than on xp. transfer times still suck with vista, but all in all, i liked it. ran many a audio and video editing program on it and it never crashed, very rarely got stuck. i would say that xp has more power, but i started up quicker with vista, ran programs quicker, encoded dvd;s quicker, and when it comes down to it, the timecoded dj program i use ran better (could have been the program though, ive yet to try the latest version on xp). i would love to switch to linux, but i cant run alot of what i use on it and i hate osx, main complaint on both is not enough video and audio hardware choices. thinking about buying a macbook, but only to run windows on it.

Vista sucked and it drained my Bro’s PC like a Hi-tec vampire which worked alright when he used XP. By the sounds of this there is a lot more snooping into the users activity and it doesn’t say it runs on less CPU so it sounds worse than vista then. considering there is problems like global warming shouldn’t companies like windows try to promote more power saving measures not draining peoples CPUs.

The reason I use xp and not vista is mainly that I have over 100 programs that are not vista compatible and that I use a few daily. Not so good that I cant use them on a newer OS right.

About Windows 7… hmm dunno, Linux seems nicer and nicer, take a look at youtube at the ubuntu with blueberry vids. Great stuff. And free. Im thinking why not just say fu MS and drop the windows concept totally from our world. ;)

I still run XP but it’s not for any of the above reasons. I’m sure my PC can handle it w/ 4g ram/ dual core cpu and GX10 graphics card. But I dread having to get all the new drivers (I still hear of driver issues, but not nearly as many) and getting it set up again when my machine has been so stable and happy for so long. It plays everything I need and plays it well as far as I’m concerned with decent, if not amazing, benchmarks. I’ll wind up turning all the eye candy off anyways like I did w/ xp.

But you ALMOST have me convinced. I really need to start playing with vista so I know what the hell I’m doing with other people’s machines when I work with them. it’s like getting used to the new Office formats and how they look different.

And the DX10 thing. Sure I won’t notice the difference but still want it. Yep, I’m almost convinced. Anyone have any suggestions for good solid Vista download? For instance I really like XP Black edition, so something like that? nudge nudge saynomore?

What a load of BS, Windows 7 will be more of the same garbage that MS has been spoon feeding the soccer moms and corporate mopes for years, The real problem with their product is that by refusing to implement standardized application and network API’s and interfaces across the board and continuing to implement proprietary solutions they are holding back the advancement of the desktop and the network, advancement of science held in check by an outdated business model…………

To all You guys who love Vista, i used Vista for half a year, (C2Q Q6600 OC 3GHz, 8GB DDR2 RAM, 8800GT), i liked Vista but after having to install virtual xp to learn i realised it’s faster as virtual than my host system. Drop to same tasks on XP and Vista and i quarantee You XP will do it faster. I was fed up with simple lockups when copying file?? This of course happened on XP but not so often like on Vista. Copying iso file on desktop and being unable to delete it and when right-click explorer.exe restarts?? That was too much for me, i got back to XP and i am not regreting that and as long XP will be supported ill stay with that and right now i’m checking Linux distros.

@118, before saying its crap, why don’t you provide us with some proof its crap instead of following the cows who jump off a cliff.

Remember Mac OSX Leopard had MORE bugs reported on release date than Vista did on their release. And Mac OSX was released after Vista!

Yes Vista was buggy, its not bad now, i have yet to come across any bugs that was major. And yes people complain about the UAC thing. However OSX has the same thing why dont people complain about that? lol.

Yes both operating systems have their flaws, Nothing is perfect.

I hate when people say something is crap, nothing is as easy as you think can be done. Once you get into the “software engineering” and programming, you will see very quickly that when clients say they want this and this, they are usually very complex when needed to implement.

You have no right to complain about something unless you can do better. And if you can then go ahead and bag all the software that cant do better than you!.

so nr.100 you are saying people need to upgrade their system, which means for many user a complete new pc, to run an OS which only real upgrade is DX10?

XP is, more stable, more tested and has tons of working content for it.

Vista is a failure. tests say it, numbers of sales/users etc say it. if you need a shiny-shiny interface and an even bigger resource-hog you are welcome to switch.

and btw this news is worthless. but i fell for it too. so here you go rlslog.

    @ #100

im not trying to turn this into a flame war as i use both windows and Linux but… Linux is better for office work/programming/ or anything you want to get done. Windows is better for games. SO saying Linux is free crap is being uninformed because that free crap runs Google and just about all the other great websites (minus MSN but i did say great). i don’t use vista because i don’t need it i dont run the newest games and some i dont even like. I like to play some games and have a computer dedicated for that purpose and XP works just fine on it but all my others are Linux. All the major OSes have their flaws with windows its a “Desktop OS”so running a server on it isnt to nice. Linux tends to be less user friendly and Macs look ugly (too me i know mac lovers will kill me for saying that)

I’m tiered of reading this… I don’t know what kept me so far…

Let me explain something to everyone:

THIS IS NOT, and I say again, NOT OS for you to install an be happy. It’s not even for you to install and try it.

Why? Well, you will just see another Vista interface and nothing else. I bet that you wont be able to find any drivers yet, so no playing games on it, maybe even no sound…

This IS for you ONLY if you own a hardware company, so you could make and test drivers in advance. But then, you would get this from Microsoft itself.

SO, all the questions as: “is it fake?”, “what’s new in it?”, “why does it expire?”… are USELESS! You do NOT need this. Once again, you won’t see any difference between win7 and Vista!

If you want it so badly, just run it as a virtual machine. If you don’t know how, then you really should skip this…

    End of story!

I like XP, there are things it does that Vista can’t do, I also like Vista, but I strip all the fancy worthless crap out that is not needed and it runs smoothly with no problemo.

But my favorite OS, and my primary machine is Server 2008, very stable, and I like its modular design … run what you want, don’t install features you don’t need .. best part about it, it is the most secure OS that MS ever released, bar none!

    Kaka also ask:

Kaka, just google “2k8crack.zip”, or on http://www.binsearch.info, look for “Windows Server 2008 READNFO Activation Crack-iND”

    @ 173

How am I entirely wrong when I went from a 20 second boot time on vista to a 45 second boot time on xp, on the SAME EXACT HARDWARE? Photoshop opens INSTANTLY, compared to 5-7 seconds it took on xp. Rasterizing a 600dpi PDF file went from 20 seconds on vista to 2 1/2 minutes on xp. My FPS in call of duty is 120 on vista vs. 100 on XP. Computers with more than 2GB RAM will run significantly faster with vista. Vista is the fastest, most stable, responsive OS I’ve ever used. The only true thing about vista being slower is when you put it on an older computer, and that falls into the “no sh!t” category. Thats like complaining that XP sucks, just because you choose to run it on a pentium1 with 256k of ram. no sh!t its gonna run slow!

I use vista yeah it’s fast … but why does it need 1gb of RAM just to run faster? I can understand if it’s a program like video editors or graphics editors but for an OS that isn’t ideal… you got your anti virus running and firewall then your browser.. so yeah with it’s high demand for memory your pc will slow down… where as XP is very light.Just image what XP can do while running on 1 GB or even 2!

Maaaan I can’t install this. It says that Install.wim (2.6 GB file) is missing. WTBH? It is there. I tried to install it from DOS (booting) and XP. Does the install work only from Vista or what? Or could I’ve screwed it up when I implemented the crack into the image?

It is sad that on a site like this only 2 out of 200 comments ask about the “legislative compliance functionality”

i have it installed on virtualbox but cannot get passed the activation point. typing in the key then after install does not work and there is no way to get to the run command in order to pull up services and stop wpa and apply the crack. i dont want to try a native install because my winxp box has been working fine ever since before service pack 3. i’m really curious about getting this to work does anyone know a way on VM

I like Vista and have found it as stable as can be expected, ppl who go on about Linux need to get real, I have used Unix @ my job for 20 years, so could run Linux no probs. I tried it for a cupla years always on a second drive, and it just doesn’t work very well, it’s the old saying too many cooks…., everytime you download something you have endless librarys to get also, when you try to start an app 50% time nowt happens, that’s why it’s free cuz they couldn’t sell it, there’s no such things as a free lunch. As for Macs the lack of choice kills it for me, PC are modular you want a choice of mobo, memory, processor, drive you got it, with the vast array and combination of hardware MS windows runs on it’s amazing it does as well as it does. As for this release it is just a milestone build, all the other milestone builds have been based on the previous release IE Vista MS build based on XP. I am going to have a bash @ it on my second machine just to try it, you’d need to be mental to use it as your main OS, or bung it on a second drive, on my main machine I have 32/64 bit Vista and XP, treble boot.
