Already two days old but i just noticed it and thought that it was worth a post even after it being out for a while. no need to explain what this is, if you dont know then you dont need it. If you program then this new VB could be useful however i dont really like it. 3 GB is a lot to download for a development tool as well as the fact you can get the Express version free. Remember this requires .net… :/

    holy crap 3 gigs!! I use vb alot but prefer to stick with the express version cause it has tons less bloatware / programming languages i dont need.

    .Net is good enought, plus it’s free :), the differences between Express and the complete ver just got quite a few minor difference, the Express ver is a complete compiler supporting everything there is about each language, the differences is just some libraries.

    Yea I love this software, I’ve been using the 2008 beta (and 2005 before that, and 2003 before that). Might as well just take the express version like kevin said. Also because it is legal.

    I’m using the Express version RIGHT NOW, I’ve got a project about Graphs… anyway, the Express version is good enough, just a 87MB download, that’s counting .Net 3.5 + VC++ 2008. Great little program!

    I got version 2005 standard edition for free by a promotion campaign microsoft was running. It still works fine and all, so I see no reason to upgrade. Other than that this version has built in XAML support for windows forms designing and I think comes standard with .Net 3.5

    I don’t think this release has the all the features of Visual Studio 2008! Under 1 DVD? The last version of Visual Studio 2005 (SP1) had about 3 DVD’s!

    Better wait the team suite version!!!

    MSDN 2008 is included (and is installed after VS 2008). However, MSDN LIbrary 2008 will not install on my XP SP2 machine (html help files are corrupt) despite best efforts. Hope this gets fixed.

    Maybe because the help is not there! MSDN 2008 with the whole package (help) has about 2.6Gb and Visual Studio 2008 and SQL 2008 3.7 Gb!!!
    I think you are referring to Visual Studio 2008 MSDN Express Library that is included in this package! Without help its worthless for programming purposes! LOL!

    what about the file ending with the extension r02? If we save them using different file names,will the rar extractor confuse?

    rar extractor will actually look for the files in the order as .r01, .r02 etc… and that too in the same folder. It is better to have all files in the same folder as .rar file for extraction purpose.

    Visual Studio Sucks if your a hacker and want a real tool. I prefer Borland’s CodeGear RAD studio - MFC is old, useless, time-consuming and bogus. VCL is perfect if your not planning to waste your time designing widgets. MFC provides lots of boggy files (which are unnecessary, confusing and time wasting).

    i personnaly perfer MFC over VCL, for the reason of making powerful programs thats require less memory less space and perfect performance.

    i test many product of borland using VCL and it’s quite useful and easy then MFC, in other hund it’s limited then MFC.

    so is there any one who have serial for VS2008 Pro, please post it :)

    How to apply it?

    1.- Download the trial version from MICROSOFT

    2.- Go to “Add or remove programs, select “VISUAL STUDIO 2008″ and click on uninstall.

    3.- You can see a window “MAINTENANCE MODE” with the following options “Uninstall”, “Repair” and “REINSTALL”, at the bottom you can see “Update to a complete version” click on it and just insert the serial and thats it! you got the VISUAL STUDIO 2008 FULL Version.

    Personally I would download the trial and then use the key… if it does in fact work. Any one have any reports whether the key for the Professional edition does in fact work?

    Torrents are awesome, but your chances of getting a copy that doesn’t work, or doesn’t include the key are far greater.

    Just follow the Post #48 and add one more thing…
    Make sure you are NOT connected to internet before filling
    the key. After that, click Update and your trial version will be upgraded to full .
