Microsoft sold 20 million Vistas in first month

Microsoft has claimed a strong debut for its new operating system, with sales figures showing more than 20 million licenses were sold in the first month of its consumer release on Jan 30. According to Redmond, this is double the pace that XP sold at when made its debut five years ago. While this is a visible growth, you shouldn’t forget the fact that amount of computers is still increasing as well as people buyig legal versions of their OS because of more and more security checks from Microsoft’s side.  Windows Vista license sales after one month of availability have already exceeded the total of Windows XP license sales in the earlier product’s first two months of availability, according to Microsoft. In January 2002, the company announced sales of Windows XP licenses had exceeded 17 million after two months on the market.

The number may be little adjusted also because of huge manufacturers who’re preinstalling it in their desktops / notebooks. The more than 20 million copies shipped represent Windows Vista licenses sold to PC manufacturers, copies of upgrades and the full packaged product sold to retailers and upgrades ordered through the Windows Vista Express Upgrade program from January 30 to February 28. Bruce Greenwood, vice president of notebooks and North American channel sales for HP, said that with both laptops and desktops, HP is seeing a shift away from the lowest memory systems and those with Vista Home Basic toward machines with 1GB or more of memory. Well, that’s the minimum of memory you need to have “useable” Vista installed. Anyway, my former words about waiting till Windows Vista SP1 still last…

u not buying it ull give it 2 years lol? My god, Bill Gates will surely shot himself when he hears about losing such a valuable (not to mention intelligent) customer. Do you even have money to buy anything?

Anyway, Microsoft bashing is so ‘99. I recommend you stick to badmouthing Sony instead.

    Danman,

I play alot of pc games, and even on Vista x64 Ultimate I do not understand how you can’t get games to work on vista.

You have to be a total idiot not to get them to work.

Even BF2141 w/ Booster Pack runs on vista, w/ PB (the worst program I ever ran into with compatibility)
