Microsoft offers new 60GB version of XboX 360

Microsoft today announced an Xbox 360 console with triple the storage space of the original console, but for the same price of $349. Available in retail stores in the U.S. and Canada starting in early August, the upgraded Xbox 360 will include a 60GB hard drive for storing music, movies, television shows, and game content. In addition, Microsoft today dropped the price of its 20GB Xbox 360 console in the U.S. and Canada to $299 while supplies last.

Microsoft’s Xbox 360 Arcade, which comes with a 256MB memory unit and five Xbox LIVE Arcade games, will continue to sell for $279, and the premium Xbox 360 Elite with a 120GB hard drive will also stay at the $449 price. The Xbox 360 60GB console includes a wireless controller, HDMI output, headset, free Xbox Live Silver account and a one-month Xbox Live Gold subscription.

Install linux then, Vi$ta is for chumps who don’t mind paying $400 for shiny window effects on a bloated OS that is guaranteed to run slower than XP. more resources means slower machine now matter how many lies you want to spew. and when I installed it I got BSODs every day even from just opening Jpeg files.

I stopped buying systems after ps2/orginal xbox.

majority of games I play, I can play from my computer with ease, with gamepads and all the frills.

I just refuse to dish out hundreds for something that will be out-dated in no-time. I rather put my $$ into my PC!

So… I might want a Console… but which is the best at the moment, Xbox 360? Wii or the a-little-bit-in-the-background-staying PS3? I like the Wii interactivity, but Nintendo games normally suck or are for a different public. The Xbox and PS3 both always have some cool quality games, but might not be that much fun. (PS, I don’t like World Of Warcraft and Mario, Gran Turismo V, GTA, COD is more my thing). Basically I think I’m answering my own question here. So Xbox it might be then, now to consult Loise from finances ;)

it’s a shame this came out. i was hoping sony would drop the price of the ps3 because of the other price drop. sony doesnt really have much of an incentive now. ill just have to wait two more years til i can afford a ps3

@2 Ahh you keep trolling about vista, just go away. Vista works fine for me and lots of other people if it doesn’t work for you, I’m sure you can cry somewhere else just don’t do it here.

@7 You would rather dish money into a pc that will be outdated in weeks rather than a console which will be outdated in years and cost much less overall. Well okay, your logic is flawed.

@8 I say buy a PS3. If you want an xbox with the features of a PS3 you end up paying the same or even more than the PS3 costs (Live, wireless adapter, battery charger ect…). Also the PS3 is much more durable than the 360.

    $349 for 60 GB xBox 360
hmm.. that a good deal ??? because depending on the currency between USA and my country, it would be Only ca. 3490.- :D
    PS3 charges here 8000.-

    Anyways, tempting offer.
But i think I’ll stick with PC-s for now :)
    PC-s and Windows XP-s :D

PC is still way better. @ 13 Outdated in weeks?? How do you figure? I’ve had my quad core for a year, and can play every game from oregon trail to Crysis, for free. Only need to update when it becomes seriously outdated, and by then a new xbox will be out anyways so you will be updating too. My last gaming machine lasted from ps1 to the release of COD4 without a single problem. And price is no different too. you pay $300 for xbox + 15 games over a year for $900 thats still less than my PC, with every single NES, SNES, Sega, N64 etc… game, wireless contollers I can play on my TV from the couch, every new game, free online, I could go on forever. And 16xAA cant be touched on xbox, when I play on my friends on a 1080p every game looks like jagged edged crap after playing a PC for years.

Meh, I miss the unsigned code from the first Xbox. That, and my 500GB HDD with custom apps and games. There really is nothing like playing from the Hard drive, 0 waiting time.
