Microsoft confirmed XboX 360 discounts
Confirming earlier speculation, Microsoft on Tuesday announced price cuts on the Xbox 360 that will take effect tomorrow. As rumored in late July, pricing on the Xbox Premium will be lowered by $50, the Elite by $30, and the Core system by $20. The new pricing places the three consoles at a price of $349, $449, and $279 USD, respectively. For the moment, the changes will reach United States consumers only. Microsoft says, “We will announce other regional price decreases at the appropriate time,” but declined to provide further specifics.
Microsoft also announced that it will be producing a special version of the console for its Halo 3 game that is priced at $399 USD and will become available in September. The console has a special Spartan green and gold finish with matching accessories. The price cuts follow a move to help sell the remaining models of Sony’s PlayStation 3 60GB version, which is now offered at $499 USD. Once supplies are depleted, only the 80GB version at $599 USD would be available. Sony said it had “several months” of 60GB console inventory in mid-July. Regardless, Nintendo still seems to be the real winner this console cycle. After being written off over the Wii, the device has become a cult favorite and could very well surpass the Xbox as the number one console this generation.

this seems like a good thing but its failure rate is to high especially if it breaks ur guaranteed not to ever get a console that wont break. im on my 3rd one and expecting this one to break. dont get me wrong its a great system when it works, but like my friend said ” why are you telling me to buy something that going to break”. so i tell u guys not to buy one, yet atleast.
Xbox 360 is NOW. PS3 is the future. The Wii is for kids, silly rabbit trick are for kids.
I heard when the last of the current version of the PS3 sells out, that the newer models won’t be backwards compatible… Anyone else heard anything on this?
That’s a half true. The American 80 GB models won’t have the special PS1/2-emulating chip.
That results in less compatibility with older games, but all major should work.

GTA4 which they paid $50 million for exclusive content is delayed until Q2 2008 at the very least. Halo 3 & Bioshock sure look pretty good but as for the rest of the line-up im not convinced.
PS3’s lineup on the other hand looks immense!

I feel that the GTA4 delay hurt MS way more than Sony. Especially as they were prob banking on GTA4 shifting units for Christmas.
Glad I bought a PS3 on release day, the game drought is coming to an end finally.

I am not a fanboy i own a 360, Wii + PS3 and pretty much any console that you can think of that has been released in the past 15 years. I am a gamer thru and thru and I know my shit when it comes to gaming.
I have had to get my 360 repaired twice in 11 months. That speaks for itself. MS should stick to software imo, yet they make a poor job of that as well.
hmm do the majority of gamers play single player or multiplayer? if u play online id stick with the sexbox360. Gears of war ftw! oh yeah and halo 3

I go with what works for me. PS2 worked for me, now im looking to get a Wii since it innovates and not just improve on graphics and stuff. Where else can you get the best version of RE4? Plus im craving for zelda since I last played ocarina of time.
We’ll see if the Ps3 strikes back. What doesnt work for me is that its just too damn bulky and too expensive. I wanted a game console not a vhs player.

i will say this though i had two 360’s one broke down got that fixed and sold it but the other one seems to be the lucky soldier so far
as of now though the ipo is getting on my nerves broke down on me twice hell in almost the same time span
Can we please do away with the fugly case that can almost compete with the not-half-as-fugly PS3? It’s really making American products look stupid.
