Microsoft announces special HALO 3 XboX 360
When Microsoft held its E3 press conference in June, the only major announcement related to Xbox 360 hardware was the reveal of a Halo Special Edition console. Although Halo 3 itself won’t be hitting shelves until next week, gamers looking to dial up their Halo-fever can now pick up the Special Edition console from their local electronics and games retailer. It the time of announcement, Microsoft focused mainly on the Halo 3 console’s authentic Spartan green and gold finish and comes with matching Xbox 360 Wireless Controller,20GB Hard Drive, Headset, Play & Charge Kit, Halo 3 Gamer Pics and Theme available via Xbox Live download. Less than a month later, HDMI ports were spotted on Xbox 360 20GB Premium consoles.
Gamers wanting the HDMI output feature but not interested in spending the extra money for an Xbox 360 Elite can be assured of getting such a console by purchasing the Halo Special Edition. The Halo console retails for $399, while the regular Premium console is $349. For a short period, Best Buy was offering $349 Premium consoles with guaranteed HDMI output. The special green console is not the only Halo promo item on Microsoft’s list. Microsoft has designed both a black and brown Halo edition Zunes preloaded with appropriately themed soundtracks and media. In June, retailer GameStop revealed special Halo 3-themed Xbox 360 controllers featuring Todd McFarlane artwork and Spartan green wireless headset. Halo 3 launches on September 25 in what could be the biggest game launch in history.

I then have to click refresh to load the page successfully. Very irritating. Is it the site or something with my browser (latest Firefox)?
Oh and the XID is usually different each time, dunno if that relates to the page i’m trying to access etc.

that’s the crap with MS. They release a new x360 every month or so. If you decide to buy one now it’ll drop in value almost instantaneously. That’s what happened with my top-of-the-line x360 back in the day.

And this won’t be the biggest launch in gaming history. Not by a long shot. Too small install base.

PS: You can get adapters for your 360 that let you access the hard drive with your computer. Not a bad idea if you want to backup demos you have downloaded from Xbox Live.

The Elite is the first new variation to come out. the other two versions were launch models.
And you can’t bitch at MS for doing themed consoles – Nintendo and Sony have been doing it for years. Moreso than MS in fact…
Halo 3 looks as boring as the first one, but with HD graphics. I’m sure some people will enjoy it, but it’s too childish and mind-numbing for me.

i used to be a pc gamer i had a original xbox but never got many games for it, but the 360 just seems to have so many really good quality games.

I don’t get it… MS should be working on their hardware design rather than getting a new paintjob. One of my friends is on his 4th xbox360 already after the other 3 failed.

They should have shot at it and beat it up with a hammer a bit – not only gives it that authentic look but it also mean its going to fail right out of the box so no surprises in the middle of a game. :p

@7 Uhm, Microsoft has 3 skus. the halo 3 is a limited time only version. looking at maybe around 10k-20k worldwide. Stupid ass sony however, has released the 20 gb sku, 60 gb sku and the 80 gb sku. the 40 gb sku will come out this winter and perhaps even a 120 gb sku.

Yeah hdmi is standard in the pro systems now. the core(soon to be arcade) won’t have it.
