Microsoft again delays Win XP SP3

Microsoft on Tuesday said it is delaying the release of Windows XP Service Pack 3 because of a newly uncovered glitch. The software maker said there is a “compatibility issue” between the XP service pack and Microsoft Dynamics Retail Management System, a retail chain management program for small and midsize businesses. Microsoft finalized the code for Windows XP SP3 last week and had planned to make it broadly available starting Tuesday. “In order to make sure customers have the best possible experience, we have decided to delay releasing Windows XP SP3 to Windows Update and Microsoft Download Center,” the company said in a statement.

The glitch also exists between Microsoft Dynamics RMS and Windows Vista Service Pack 1, though that product has already been broadly released. Microsoft started pushing out Vista SP1 last week via Automatic Updates. “To help protect our customers, we plan to put filtering in place shortly to prevent Windows Update from offering both service packs to systems running Microsoft Dynamics RMS,” Microsoft said. “Once filtering is in place, we expect to release Windows XP SP3 to Windows Update and Download Center.” Microsoft advised those running Microsoft Dynamics RMS to not install either service pack. The company said a “fix is currently in testing and will be available as soon as that process is complete.”

    so when m$oft rush to release a buggy os (vista) they get yelled at by people like comment number four. but when they delay and iron out bugs, they still get yelled at by people like number four.

    MS is going to do something for pirated windows xp thats why adding some more critical stuff into Retail release. Anyways the One I have uploaded is the Final release for Developers Network.

    Windows XP SP3 was intended for Mac computers and devices. I have also successfully installed Windows XP SP3 on my iPhone. Now it sees built-in GPS and its memory increased to 64GB without any hardware changes. WOW! Thank you Bill! Thank you Microsoft!

    as microsoft is going to be dropping support for xp soon, and that they can’t even get their service packs to work properly, why not try a different os like ubuntu or mac os. unless your a gamer you don’t need windows.

    maybe i’m stupid but what’s Microsoft Dynamics RMS?? Cause I don’t use it that’s for sure. If that’s the only problem I don’t see a problem in installing SP3 on my computer.

    @28 & 39 …I have downloaded from the same link today and can only confirm that it’s the same as previously leaked torrent one..md5 checsum: BB25707C919DD835A9D9706B5725AF58, Rms 99,9% of us don’t use anyway..http://www.microsoft.com/dynamics/rms/product/productoverview.mspx ..so don’t panic stick with 5512 build..only my opinion

    xp build 5512 isnt changing (so you can d/l from m$ without worries), WU is changing it’s filtering so it wont accept those customers for update. do a search on this i did.
