Synopsis: Michael Clayton (George Clooney) is what is known in the legal world as a “fixer,” or in the character’s own pejorative version, a “janitor” who cleans up legal messes for VIPs and corporations on behalf of a prestigious New York City law firm. A former litigator, Clayton has found a niche that capitalizes on his legal acumen and shrewd people skills, and yet, after 13 years on the job, finds himself increasingly disgusted with his clientele. The film covers four pivotal days of his life, in which a midlife crisis and a crisis of conscience neatly converge when he is called in to “fix” a situation unfolding in one of his firm’s hottest cases.

    This has been RIPPED from a BluRay disk, but will most definitely NOT playback on a PS3. You can only play it on your PC running VLC (or any other media player that will play mkv files).
    Obviously, you’ll need to be running in resolution of at least 1280×768.

    @SL!CK – There probably ARE tools to convert from mkv to XviD/DivX but you’d STILL have to play it back on your PC.
    Standalone DivX players don’t like resolutions with a width greater than 720 pixels, so what’s the point?
    (And the filesize would almost definitely increase!)

    ConvertxtoDVD can convert 720p mkv files into DVD format, and it works fairly well, working on the principle that your output quality is only as good as your input quality is a good benchmark to use, and yes i think the last one i converted i converted into DVD9 (8.3gb) format and it was worth the extra time conpared to converting the regular Xvid rip

    @10: You could, but there’s really no point. The files would be much bigger, your computer wouldn’t play it all that much better (possibly worse), and you couldn’t play it on a DivX player without downscaling it (very slow)..
    if you want to play it in a DivX player, you’d be better of downloading the regular DVD rip and burning that..

    As far as i know the PS3 doesn’t accept .MKV files
    Also, you can’t put it on the hard drive because the file system is FAT32 and the max file size of that is 4GB, this file is larger.

    I have a PS3 btw.

    you can do it on the ps3 easily, just down mkv2vob and it will transcode the video and audio(no loss in quality), then use tversity to stream it, if you want to store it on your hard drive and the file is bigger than 4gb you have to use tversity too, just choose ‘copy’ from the ps3 menu and the ps3 will copy the file with no problems(it probably makes a seem less split with only one index value shown)

    ps3 can play larger files. i have Happy.Feet.2006.MsH.HDDVDRip.1080p.AC3.DD5.1.4PC.XBOX.PS3 which was ripped in mp4 and looks brilliant. the best part- its only 3GIG 1920X800 so u can put on memory card. if u have ubuntu or Yellow dog linux on your ps3 u can use vlc to play mkv, xvid etc but you need to shut all other programs coz of limited ram on ps3.

    you can also use orb to stream it

    it will play just fine on your macintosh with VLC
    if!!!
    you have at least a G5 2Ghz AND ati x800 vid.
    better if you are running a core 2 duo 2Ghz and ATI x1900.

    re: hooking up a tv to a video card… many 2 port cards will have optional accessories available. several will offer DVI to s-vid or DVI to HDMI. either of these will help you hook up to a TV.

    additionally many TVs will take a DVI signal directly just like a monitor… but be careful, the TV must be made to take the refresh rate from a computer. other wise you could damage your TV forcing it.

    mkvmerge -o s-clayton-fixed.mkv -y 2:150 s-clayton.mkv

    pad trackid 2 with 150ms with silent samples

    so just use mkvmerge or let your video player handle it => a/v-delay 150ms

    to convert for use on a PS3 i use GOTSENT which splits the files and changes the header for playing on PS3.

    For those having trouble with the sync fix, I had to download and install mkvtoolnix to get the fix to work, otherwise I got the “libiconv.dll missing” error. Here’s where to download the program:

    Note: I haven’t actually watched the before and after yet, so I don’t know how necessary the syncfix is yet. Hope that helps!
