M.I.A - Kala (2007)

M.I.A (Missing In Action)  coming back after two years with a new album “Kala”. Not many people know her but she one of those artists that has their own genre, her music is so original which is why i like her music. She has a new single which was out couple of months ago from this album called “Bird Flu” which is a unique song  and highly recommended. The album drops on the 21st  so make sure to support this artist!. Enjoy!

Kala is the second studio album by UK experimental electronica and rap artist M.I.A. and will be released in the United Kingdom on August 20, 2007 and on August 21, 2007 in the USA. The album had an advanced release in Japan on August 8, 2007.

The album features collaborations with Afrikan Boy and The Wicannia Mob, and co-production with producers including Switch, DJ Blaqstarr, Morganics, Diplo, Timbaland and Danja. M.I.A. had also held recording sessions with Three 6 Mafia. M.I.A. has cited the album as “shapes, colours, Africa, street, power, bitch, nu world, and brave.”

M.I.A. has been quoted as saying “[There was] a track I was working on with Three Six Mafia [that] didn’t make it…and one with Dangerhands, and Samir Debonair. Loads of things didn’t happen because I was having visa issues, but they’ll probably work out in the future.”

Kala is named after M.I.A.’s mother (her previous album, Arular, was named after her father). M.I.A. stated that, “Arular…was a real masculine album.” Regarding Kala, she says, “This one is about my mum and her struggle—how do you work, feed your children, nurture them and give them the power of information?” Kala, has a holographic front and back.

I got this a few days ago, not really anything brilliant, a few good tracks, Piracy funds terrorism and Arular are about twice as good, so check them out as well if you are going to get this. Gives a better view of her skills.

The downwards spiral that music is traveling through is upsetting, and this chick really makes an effort to destroy everything musical! This is the biggest load of crap music? that i have ever heard in my entire life! That is if you can call it music, it’s so stupid and empty. It has no soul and no real spirit, and the punjab girl lacks talent.

@ Blackeyenbearhawk, Quick question, just so people can look at your comment objectively, what would you call music? and what is your favourite music?

    This is great!

New types of music are always welcome, you won’t know what you might take fancy to!

Keep covering such exotica, some may like it, some may not.. but whats important that we shouldn’t shy from trying out newer stuff.

Kudos to the team for getting me something totally new to me! I love it.

Now where have I heard this before??!!

Oh yes, when the Beetles and the King came along, there were surely some who voiced the same lines as above!!

And to nitpick, she aint Punjabi, she’s Tamil. Ignoramus!

The Beetles later work was soulless and has no spirit though.
    Just saying.

her music is like her official homepage: fun to watch once, but twice will cause eyecancer :p

    btw
defending mias music is one thing, but putting her next to the beatels and elvis is utterly ridiculous!

I love this chick and her music IS very original, she always fights not to fall into the “hot singer-chick” cat and is always fresh.

I’m glad that you guys are downloading it rather than buying it because if you buy her albums you are supporting terrorism in Sri Lanka. Her father is a member of the notorious tamil tiger s and she has been very vocal about supporting them, but rather than go into it read for yourself.
