We have another game for the day, this time released by the classic group Razor1911. I really couldn’t find a proper poster for this release, but did find a lot of information. The game is created by Paleo Entertainment, independent publishers and developers. Merchants of Brooklyn is a first-person shooter set in postapocalyptic New York. Since this is a indy game, i think that you should really buy it. It is also available via Steam.
Set in 3100 AD, Merchants of Brooklyn: M.O.B. challenges gamers to plunge themselves in a futuristic world that confronts mankind’s ancient past with its technological future as cloned Neanderthals walk the planet again. The simple but physically strong creatures find themselves with unexpected freedom, and as a Neanderthal themselves, gamers will need to battle their way from becoming extinct once more.
Merchants takes place in Brooklyn, New York in the year 3100 AD. Rising sea levels resulting from global warming have swallowed up the land and humanity now lives in buildings constructed on top of the old city. The rich live in the highest spires while the poor are left to fend for themselves in the dangerous lower levels. The game’s main character is a cloned Neandrathal, bred for hard labor, who decides to escape the undercity and lead fellow clones in a revolt against the upper class. You’ll use a variety of futuristic weaponry, as well as your biomechanical arm, to fight your way to the top of the city.

The Paleo Entertainment Forums address issues with yesterday's release of Merchants of Brooklyn via Steam, as the new CryENGINE 2 first-person shooter exhibited a number of bugs. It turns out an alpha version of the game was accidentally distributed instead of the final build, naturally leading to problems.

About the Game
In 3100 A.D., global warming has caused the sea level to rise and engulf the streets of Brooklyn. The land is gone, but society rebuilds the city on top of existing structures, connecting buildings through a network of sky bridges. As the upper class literally moves higher, law enforcement abandons the lower parts of the city, and its less-affluent inhabitants.
To meet the upper city's demand for laborers, city leaders contract the Brooklyn Institute of Technology (B.I.T.) to clone a new working class. At the time, the B.I.T. Labs had made incredible advances in cloning; Neanderthals were chosen as the main focus of the research based on their physical resilience. The city's contract called for far more Neanderthal clones than were required, causing the excess and sub-standard Neo-Neanderthals to be discarded to the dregs of the city. The well established mob entity known as the Merchants of Brooklyn saw a lucrative opportunity here… use the bottom dwellers for high stakes fights to the death. It became the new sport of under-city kings.
In MERCHANTS OF BROOKLYN, You take the role of an elite Neanderthal fighter with a taste for blood. Having had your arm unwillingly detached from your body courtesy of a chainsaw, your new prototype biomechanical arm transforms into different twisted and brutal weaponry to aid you in the slaughter. Your goal: escape from the under city and free your brethren to take over the upper utopian empire to do with as you please.

You can tell how good this game is when they do a 8 minute interview with the director and the only thing he says and repeats for the whole video is "You can ACTUALLY pick up peoples heads throw them and they explode". Wow yes this will be GOTY definatly… such orginality and varied content.

The stylized violence of Paleo Entertainment's debut FPS effort, the CryEngine 2-based Merchants of Brooklyn, hit Steam yesterday with plenty of blood, guts — and bugs. Lots and lots of bugs, like the kind you'd find by cracking open a Brooklyn sewer drain. That's because the version of the game delivered by the service was actually an early alpha build. Ouch.

Very demanding little game. Needs minimum 2gb of ram and decent processor speed. All that for just an Ok experience.

1. The game sucks big-time.
2. The version I downloaded via torrent had tons and tons of trojans in it. Had to restore my image to get it back to where it should be. Even turned off Windows Security Center – clever.

@59, Yes, I've just been caught. Not only did I have to reformat, but the f***** left autorun feature on all my drives, so I couldn't access them via desktop shortcuts (sorted it by running autorun eater and a couple of malaware apps).

This is one of the worst, sloppiest, stupidest, ugliest I have ever played in my whole f life.
Even the first Doom version looks and feels better than this uber-crap.
