    I love hotels. Not too sure why, but I always loved them. If I was rich I would buy a hotel, run it, and live in it!

    I hope they show this hotel inside and out! downloading it now!

    I’ve been there. the shaikh of one of the neighbouring emirates rents out an entire floor of the hotel (only 7 star hotel in the world just imagine the cost) kicker being he’s never actually been there before…its a just in case thing…

    The waterpark beside it where that pyramid shaped hotel is on the right is absoloutly amazing as well. you just sit in a tube and the canals and whatnot in the park take you to the different slides. they also have little contraptions that actually push you up hill in your inner tube so you dont even have to get outta the water or your tube to go up the hills to get into the rides.

    Awesome…but i lived in abu dhabi which is the capitol of the emirates…dubai is just the really westernized tourist city…that i wish i lived in.

    Ah well..dont ranting. good link, cheers

    oh and just a cool fact. the little “pad” at the top right of the hotel just barely visible there is a heli pad AND a tennis court…can you imagine playing tennis on there that high up? crazy

    it is NOT a 7 stars hotel. It’s a 5 stars ++

    Trust me, a very good friend of mine works there and i’ve been there last summer.

    There is no such thing as 7 stars hotels.

    –> “Burj al-Arab characterizes itself as a “7-star” property, a designation considered by travel professionals to be hyperbole. All major travel guides and hotel rating systems have a 5-star maximum, which some hotels attempt to out-do by ascribing themselves “6-star” status. According to the hotel’s official site, the Burj al Arab is a “5-star deluxe hotel”.”

    here is a video i did last summer. Enjoy :)

    it’s acctualy Burj *Al* Arab, and is also not so tall at all, there’re at the moment a lot taller hotel buidings at construction in Dubai, not metioning building of other types (residental, office)

    anyway cool document but bulding itself is not so impressive these days :P

    @cheney4prez i,m dutch and we wish that YOUR country falls into the sea,youre country tries to lure everybody into hating the arabs,moslims,it doesnt work,and never will,We are not going to believe that iran is a danger to world peace,so stop youre countrys propaganda machine,and btw did you know that your country is ruled by the jews.

  13. Joel Rifkin
    July 16th, 2007 | 11:45

    Sure mchammer….why don’t you go tell Theo van Gogh’s family that Muslims aren’t dangerous. Your country seems to have it’s own bad issues with Islamic radicals, so don’t go throwing stones.

    July 16th, 2007 | 12:27

    joel you F@#$ wit!!750000 civilians killed in iraq since the US invaded….whose more dangerous??
    There are radicals in every culture whose sole purpose is to cause shit…
    The US gets the “dumb F@ck ” prize for having the stupidity to vote for George dubbya TWICE….surely the most “radical”"christian” leader the west has ever seen…

    Dubbya and all who support him need to wake up to the fact that this planet is worse of because of their countries actions….
    You should all hold your heads in shame….
    Using Theos death to reflect how “dangerous” muslims are seems to be a weak argument at best,and plain dumb and ignorant at worst…..wake up pal, your cornflakes are getting cold…..

    July 16th, 2007 | 13:01

    hey surfer, who killed those Iraqis?
    not Americans – it’s the infighting between Shiites and Sunnis – they’re the ones blowing up each other’s mosques.
    Blaming the US for destroying Saddam’s regime, which freed the Sunnis and Shiites to fight each other – that’s a moot point.
    the fact is, Muslims are killing each other, and Amercian soldiers try to avoid the crossfire.

    Discovery channel had something like this one a couple weeks ago about dubai expanding a land onto bigass islands in a shape of a palmtree etc.. It’s pretty cool. It also shows the prince that wants these islands built is a very rich person. He seems like a respectable person, so I will leave comments about him alone. Since the price of the building will make his money back in no time at all. They people that make these building are really masterful artist. The building locations are awesome.

    Joel Rifkin, you compare the Theo V Gogh issue with the shit that’s going on with the VS?? HAHA dude, you really must love America.

    The movie Team America says it all in a very funny way imo. The paranoia-vibe created in the VS is just plain wrong. I hope your next generation will be smarter.

    (or I’ll have to find another planet to live on)

    I would love for someone to post the building of this hotel because the discovery channel did a mini doc on it.

    @ all above:
    This is one of the countries where some of the worlds most desperate and dangerous terrorists grow up, because there is no middle-class, same as Saudi-Arabia. Only extremely rich Arabs and extremely poor Asian immigrants working 1/1000 the wage they deserve. I haven’t even downloaded this one, but I am just sure that there are a lot of Asian people(NOT Arabs) working these places. Instead of building these extreme buildings, they could give just SOME of their money to the poor people all over the Middle East. This is how the US btw wants it to be. Make the rich even richer and let the rest of them just kill each other over nothing. Also, sunni/shia warfare in Iraq is bullshit too. I mean, aren’t they all muslims?? Why the hell do they kill each other?? It’s all part of the American plan to create havoc and just watch by the sidelines untill everyone is toasted.

    Not to mention the Europeans who split Kurdistan(of 40 million people) into 4 parts(Turkey, Syria, Iran and Iraq) in 1918, so every Kurd could just watch by while the other part of their family was massacred on the other side of the border, without being able to do anything about it. Untill this day, speaking 1 word Kurdish is punishable by death in Iran and Syria, while Turkey has refused to work for peace with Kurds there, “terrorists” or otherwise. 51 Kurdish mayors were jailed for writing a letter to Danish PM Anders Fogh Rasmussen not to close the only TV-channel in Turkey that informs the Kurdish people with true news. Why is everyone so occupied with these freakin’ Arabs when they have 23 countries, while the biggest ethnic minority in the WORLD, the Kurds, don’t even have simple human rights? I mean, just look at what these socalled NATO-soldiers did to a freedom fighter, to them a “terrorist”, but even if he is the worst terrorist, no human being should be able to do this without punishment: http://dozame.org/blog/2007/07/10/peace-not-for-this-kurdish-family/

    Also, just read this, and you will realize how dangerous turkish fascism is for the Middle East: http://dozame.org/blog/2007/06/03/hpg-issues-new-statement-about-the-train-attack-turkish-judge-issues-media-censor/

    Dubai is trying to attract tourists and businesses from around the world. They want to be the next Honk-Kong, the hub of world trade. I think that they are doing this in a very pretty way.

    @Johnny Faxe
    Message to the Kurdish guy (may be Kurdish), if you want to gain the respect for your race, start at least by respecting other races (why freakin’ Arabs!??). This is not good for the Kurdish case, blame the Europeans for what you are in.

    @ all
    Finally, the Arab world is full of contrasts, not all arabs are rich. Beside the gulf countries (Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and Qatar) and formerly Iraq are rich because they have oil and gas fields. Other Arabs in northern of the peninsula and north Africa are middle class countries (may be with the exception of Egypt and Morocco where the poverty percentage is high).

    @cheney4prez
    Poor guy, Americans never die for nothing. With all respect to the American people, they are dying to serve the richest in the country, the firms owners, the oil industry. The gulf Arabs are paying you billions of dollars everyday for staying there so you gave your lives for money.

    u guys really need to cut it out on the political battles…. i dont want to hear ur views on war when its a documentary on buildings. if rlslog puts a documentary like loose change on here, then u can say something about dubbya, or the war or whatever fits the bill….. its people like you that would destroy a beautiful building, because you think it represents something other than what it was built for….. hmmm what guy in a turbin does that remind you of cheney4prez…..

  23. July 16th, 2007 | 19:14

    Haha.. it amazes me how enthrilling the Burj Al Arab is to people outside this region. Until recently there was a murder in the hotel and some other events “not so common” in other luxurious high standing hotels. If any of you ever plan to come to Dubai to see this and other expensive shit, take my word and save your money. Dubai is the most f***** up place you will ever see!

    @ logico
    I have Kurdish friends who have told me about their situation, and I had researched it after that..I don’t need to respect animals…I’m not talking about all arabs..only the ones in power and the ones who hate even the word “Kurdish” for absolutely no reason, even those who live in Europe(and there are a lot of those, I know first hand!)

    Btw, it’s not only the Europeans fault the Kurds are in this situation today, it’s also because the US keeps giving military support to a terrorist country like Turkey, which is currently the biggest threat to an independent Kurdistan a.k.a. Northern Iraq.

    Not to mention the American weapons sold to Turkey each year, this year he’s called Joseph Ralston. He visits Turkey under the guise of “Anti-Terror Coordinator for Turkey”, but in reality closes billion-dollar deals for Lockheed Martin. And this is in 2007 FFS! Can you say conflict of interest? Or what about when the US, Israel and Greece helped capture the PKK’s leader in Kenya in 1999, or when several European countries sold chemical weapons to Saddam Hussein(they have also been convicted at a EU court), weapons he used to wipe out a whole city of 5000 totally innocent people in an instant, the city of Halabja! GOOGLE IT! Or write Halabja in Google, press Images, and see for yourself. Also more on Halabja: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halabja_poison_gas_attack#Video
