Here we have the next installment in the long running Medal of Honor series of video games. Titled Airborne this focuses primarily on paratroopers hence the name ‘Airborne’. Once you are ejected from the plane instead of following a pre-scripted path like in past MoH games you can actually control where your player lands on the map and make your own way to the target. This is called Non-Linear gameplay if you didnt already know and has been a popular feature for modern games. Played the demo, pretty good..but very much a console game(made for consoles). Uses the Unreal 3 Engine so you will need a SM3.0 card unless somebody finds a way to make it SM2.0 Doesn’t seem as demanding as Bioshock or R6 Vegas. Give it a whirl.
@Alan – Go with Dual Core, it runs the unreal 3 Engine well. no need for Quad Core yet. Even Bioshock runs well on a dual core. Just make sure you get a decent graphics card, x1900xt? x1900xtx? with 512mb ram, useful for Bioshock.

No, you cannot play it with that system, not even in low settings.
TupaC…for better perfomance set Audio Setting to LOW! otherwise you will not reach 30FPS.
This game requires much more CPU power than GPU power.

EDIT: forgot to add that the 8600GTS is the 256MB verion not the 512MB version and would like to play at a reasonable resolution for a 22″ screen (max res 1680×1050)

Huey – set max resolution, and high-medium (most high) settings – on my 7900GS with C2D 3.2GHz demo rand great on max details.
Don’t forget everyone, when dl’ing this, if you see moviex.info in the list of trackers, delete them because if you are not a member of their site, they will leech from you but you will receive no data back from their members, essentially they steal from you poor saps trying to download off newtorrents and the pirate bay, this is why moviex has such good dl speed, not because of lots of seeds, but because they get their data from you without having to give back. I’m just tired of the same battlefields in WW2 shooters. How many times can you do D-Day?Or Nazi Zombies?? Even Stalingrad is old hat! Why don’t game makers have the balls to make a shooter from the German point of view? After all, the Germans fought everywhere against everyone, so many different enemies, fronts and situations! Also it would actually be believable to be outnumbered by the enemy unlike the Call of Duty/Metal of Honor series which always seems to have a few poor Allied troops(even in the Russian screnarios)facing never ending hordes of German troops and tanks and aircraft!

@SJ: You are actually wrong. The Q6600 preforms better at the same clockfrequency even in single-threaded apps. It’s helped by the larger cache. The G0 stepping overclocks really good too so it will crush any Dual Core. Read the article below.

True enough DaLoon that they want to make money, but really don’t they think that maybe trying something different would also make money?Why not have a German section in a Call of Duty game?
It’s strange how there are flight sims, sub sims, tank sims, wargames, RTS’s etc. that can let you play as the ‘bad’ guys like the Germans in WW2, yet there is not a single FPS that has you as a German soldier fighting against the allies! I know that there is a fear that such a game would have the predictable howls of being ‘anti-semitic’ or ‘glorifying the Nazis’ etc, but it didn’t happen with any WW2 flight sim or Silent Hunter III, or any of the Hearts of Iron strategy games, or Panzer General etc. I think fighting as the Germans in France, Poland, Norway, Italy, North Africa, Greece, Crete, Netherlands, Soviet Union would be an incredible opportunity to make a varied game with many different locations and enemies. It even would make sense for the game to get harder as it goes along ,as the early scenarios would be against the poorly equipped Poles, and the poor morale French for example, then gradually getting harder in Crete, North Africa, Soviet Union, until by end of game you really face a tough fight against hordes of well equipped enemies in a desperate battle to survive the war.

another 6 gig’s, these game3s are getting insane with size. I remember when games came on 1 CD 600 megs, then it went to 2 cd’s for 1200 megs etc.. next we will have to use blu-ray or hd-dvd cause the install size will be 30+ gigs :/.

its an Ok game, besides the land wherever you want feature, its pretty much the same as most WW2 games, we’ve seen it before, but i’ve always liked those kinds of games but i wont pay for more of them. As for people saying controls suck on 360 for fps games just suck at it, im no fanboy but i think the 360 controls are just as good as mouse and keyboard

Anon, so true. It’s strange that game companies can get away with much more obvious propaganda and more effective than other media as it’s interactive. Probably due to the fact that games are still not taken very seriously by many.
JollyRoger, a German airborne campaign would be great. We’d have Norway, the landing on fortresses in Belgium, Crete, Monte Cassino, as well as special operations like rescuing Mussolini and if you add the Brandenburgers, even more exotic missions. Just because it’s from the German side, shouldn’t preclude the wealth of interesting material that could be used.
I just downloaded the thing, now it won’t install. Setup starts, and then, near the end of it says, an error occured, a rollback starts, and nothing is installed. Anyone else have this problem?

I’d have to say that people who think controllers are equal to kb/ mouse for fps just don’t have a good enough mouse (or system). Or they simply have spent way way more time on controllers. So it would be better for THEM. But all things equal, finely tuned hand aiming versus only somewhat customizable single thumb aiming.

To answer my own question (#149): You need to have the windows firewall on. The setup probably wants to add its rules to the firewall, and just balks when it’s not running. Weird.

Gerben: how did you figure out it was related to the firewall? I had the same error. I solved it by installing it in a VM and transferring the data + reg entries back.

ISO is ok. I’ve downloaded it from both sources, and it worked for me.. L3XLuTh0R, aren’t there any errors while unpacking the *.rar archive? If not, try updating your DaemonTools or whatever you’re using to install the game..

Like vmware or virtual pc.
Install your game inside the virtual machine then copy the game files to your real hard drive. Export your virtual registry entries (just the game ones, not your entire registry) then merge them with your real registry. Bingo, the game works and life goes on.
Huh, maybe some cracker could make a fixed *.exe file, that will not contact the EA servers, but directly go to LAN games… Like it was done in Battlefield series… That would be really good..

ok, first of all, I downloaded the game. No problem with the installation and such
now I got a weird problem. I’m using the default control and whenever I’m in the game, the player is turning right all the time, as if someone is moving the mouse to the right. Same problem exists after updating to v1.2. Any ideas?
