Yeah mcafee is great, i remember when i first used the rtm version of win 2003 server (long before it hitted the shelves) and i couldn’t find anything else as good as mcafee enterprise, this is really a great av, its light on resources, invisible and precise! LOL on the noobs who flame it

I used McAfee for a couple years cause they gave it away free with AOL. I got a virtumonde or vundo virus a few times which cause hours of fixing. I finally wised up and got Kaspersky and have never had a problem since. Maybe the new McAfee is better, but I doubt it. I will stick with Kaspersky…

Dunno which one is the best antivirus, but ive been using several versions of McAfee for at least 6 years (legit copies from work) in conjunction with spybot and spywareblaster and ive never, ever, had my pc infected.

I gotta agree with #14. Norton used to suck bad but the 2009 version is much much better and its not a memory hog anymore. Been getting alot of great reviews. I might check it out later down the road.
Bitdefender internet security is the best in my book, I have tried them all nod32, panda, kaspersky, avg, mcafee, norton, trend micro. So there you have it.

Why not take a look at the system requirements, and then compare them to the Mcafee home version before making ridiculous claims about it being a memory hog or terrible at it’s job.

almost tried every anti virus package, eventrually landed on Avira + Comodo, both legit and free, will keep both.
I went to a friend and has its computer infected with a trojan! He used nod32 which in fact detected the virus but CANNOT remove it! WHY? I don’t know! I installed Kaspersky and guess what? It had removed the virus ASAP! What kind of AV is the one that cannot remove a virus?
BTW: I had also some problems with bitdefender in removing some viruses! The lamest message: cannot disinfect (cannot access the file) LOL!
My guess is all you idiots claiming this AV is crap are all thinking of the home use McAfee with the shiny UI crap.
This ENTERPRISE AV is very low on resources. I have been using it for many years and I have never been pleased more with any other AV. This AV was bought by McAfee years ago from Computer Associates.
this enterprise edition of mcafee pawns nod32 and kaspersky all thanks to a new technology now called Artemis, which drastically increases its detection rates.
I used to use nod32/Eset Antivirus v3 but it has been getting crappier results on the last few tests done by antivirus comparatives websites. It seems kaspersy is currently kicking eset butt.
But the macfee corporate version that has incorporated this new kickass technology makes this the top dog at the moment..

I’m a bit confused…. The info says “we urge you to download the beta version” and the heading says RETAIL??? WTF? oes this beta sold as retail?
Ah… and about the AV war… I have used Nod32 v3.7, Symantec EPP v11, Bitdefender 2008 and AVG Free edition.
Nod32 failed to detect Fakealert.Trojan and I end up in cleaning the mess with several tools. It took me around 5 hrs to get back the system to normal. ( I had to use Trojan remover and restart the machine several times )
SEP failed to detect some adware and spyware… which have been in my registry and internet cache… Each time IE was launched it gave a virus alert, but failed to detect it on deep scan
Bitdefender usually do not detect Autoit trojans and similar stuff… So each time when I attach a infected pen drive my system gets effected and I had to manually clean the Autorun.inf files and relevant executed EXEs BATs
AVG Free edition sucks… it does not provide Rootkit protection at all.. Most people are not aware of this and use it widely since it is free thus risking their system and data… I suggest all not to use AVG Free edition… It is not a MALWARE protection… Just a virus protection with some link checkers + misc
What I have seen is, when a particular AV detects a infection, the other does not detect it + vice versa. Hope in future someone will develop a solution which will not require multiple AV + Adware + Spyware + Misc running on the system for true total protection.

I think it’s hi-lari-ous how some of you people in here get on a rampage about which software is best (as if YOU were the one who built it). It’s so easy to call someone a “noob” online (if that makes you feel smarter, then by all means… get some help). You should all know “most” software will perform differently per persons’ computer, OS, setup, hardware specs, etc. What works best for you may not work best for others - some may be so used to certain softwares, they don’t know enough about others to make substantial comments. Don’t forget, morons, all this is free, so stop missing the big picture and be more civil and respectful.
McAfee is OK as far as antivirus, not great but OK. Norton is about the same as McAfee but have a tendency to conflict with other apps a lot !!! The best FREE AV is Avira PE, no question about it. It’s Free and doesn’t require crack/hack. Best paid AV are Avira Premium, Kaspersky and Nod32. Who in the right mind would use a cracked/hacked AV in the 1st place???? It just defeat the purpose. It’s like you want to lock the door to your house but at the same time give the key to the thief !!!
What do you think about RISING Antivirus (a chinese company). IT’s a couple of week that a try it. it seems good.

Personally and it is purely personally I’ve found that McAffe ’sucks’ ie it doesn’t work as well FOR ME as say Kaspersky/Nod32 or bitdefender. But thats personal and subjective… with 3 teenage internet porn addicted sons who think Limewire rocks.
I too use BitDefender, but have found it to be a bit of a resource hog, especially at boot up.

Seriously guys I don’t understand why a few folks here even compared Kaspersky, NOD32, Avast, AVG, Avira, Norton to McAfee. This is the enterprise version and not the other crappy Internet Security Suite aimed at home users. This has a fully featured but stripped down interface which gives a lot of options to protect your computer. The rest of the antiviruses are both good and crappy. NOD32 and Kaspersky being the best for home users being both light and having very good detection rates. This enterprise version of McAfee is purchased by enterprises .. most of the guys here have not even bought it. Still they want to compare it with products which they have to buy.
