Master and Commander 2003 720p BluRay x264-REFiNED

Pretty much every HD scene group has released something, and one of the best groups out there bring us a movie I have sadly never heard of, but with Russel Crow in the cast it has to be posted ;) . Its released on DVD9 but don’t complain as all that means is we get to enjoy a nice bitrate and DTS audio along with this release.

The year is 1805. Europe has fallen to Napoleon, and only the Royal Navy stands in his way to total victory. Off the cost of South America, a new conflict is brewing. Captain Jack “Lucky Jack” Aubrey (Russel Crowe) of the Man-of-War HMS Surprise is under orders to sink or capture the French privateer Acheron, which has been deployed to the region. After seven weeks of uneventful sailing, the Acheron strikes first, all but crippling the Surprise in an engagement in which Aubrey realizes his enemy’s ship is nautically superior to his own. Along with his close friend and confidant Stephan Maturin (Paul Bettany) who also happens to be the ship’s surgeon, Aubrey is now faced with the choice of retreating to England and admitting defeat or remaining at the Acheron’s mercy. Aubrey must now do the impossible if he is to survive, repair his ship, catch up to his enemy and defeat the Acheron–somehow.

If anyone out there appreciates GOOD sound, and knows the value of a skillfully mastered DTS track.. probably already knows about the MAster + Commander audio track. But for those who haven’t..this is what is called “Demo MAterial”.

i.e., the actions scenes in this one will give a good surround sound system a hell of a workout.

Not sure of ‘best movie of 2003′ but certainly well known and extensively distributed; Marceli, where were you in 2003? Mars? It’s even on fta tv in Aust (often!) – probably is everywhere else as well.

Lol, many of the above posters are right! You know other crap movies but not this one?! This is actually one of my most favorite high seas movies and is far superior to that of the crappy Pirates movies recently released. Marceli you definitely have to check it out, especially when they cut that poor boys are off with only a few shots of wiskey and a piece of wood in his mouth.

  26. March 21st, 2008 | 02:28

I know many other crap movies? To me crap movies are anything that domino and vomit release… all the other movies i know about are either because i have seen them on tv when i had nothing better to do or i saw a trailer. and please point out to me which crap movies i know so much about.

marceli, you don’t owe anyone an apology for being 12 or living in Poland and not having seen this film. You were honest enough to admit you hadn’t seen it and the vultures pounced on what they saw as a weakness they could exploit. Ignore these trolls, they are just ignorant children, probably younger than you, who get off on being cyber-bullies.

if you love this movie you should check out the books it was based on.
they’re a series of 20 excellent books by patrick o’brian covering the napoleonic wars from jack aubrey’s and stephen maturin’s point of view.
the whole series was recorded on audiobooks by the late great patrick tull and are available to download on the pirate bay.

Yes Gavrielle, you are correct. Everyone is caught up on the he said/she said, I have this and you are crap mentality. This is a sharing situation, and if someone has a question, the answer should not be an automatic “you’re an idiot” response.

As you all digest this note, please be happy that you have the ability to download a Hi-def movie. I cannot, and it takes a hell of a lot of work for people to upload this (never mind the legal ramifications). This arguing and belittling is a piss off for the people making the effort that make this site possible. As they say, there is no such thing as stupid questions…only stupid answers…

I’m sorry, it’s just too ironic.

Master and Commander is a amazing film. Acting on behalf of the ENTIRE cast was phenomenal. I could not believe the natural delivery of each word and action was. Certain less known actors such as Ed Woodall who played the Second Lt. William Mowett seems like a classically trained actor, a very fine and rare thing today. Max Prikis who plays Midshipman Blankeney, Lee Ingleby who is Hollom and Max Benitz who is Calamy are all stellar. Love this film and appreciate the talent. By comparative standards, this movie is made for a intelligent audience.
