I finished game with iND crack there was only wapon overheat problem in the last part of game, 2nd fix helped a bit but not 100%

Vitality cracks actually bypass the copy protection and remove it. While reloaded cracks put emulation into the cracked exe growing the exe tremendously.

It would be stupid of them to release it if it didn’t, especially after we already had Reloaded mess it up, then got a working crack later on.
Reloaded crack was a wrapper VM, hence bigger size. Vitality strips protection resulting in smaller than original file and MUCH better performance compared to VM solution. I had about 5fps at 640×480 on lowest possible settings with Reloaded crack and about 30fps at 1280×800 and low/mid settings on my humble rig (GeForce 7600GS).
Anyone find it strange that the NFO doesn’t mention reloaded’s mess? I mean, everytime Vitality release something they bash reloaded, specially a mess like this…

i used the custom crack someone did, which was posted on gulli and played thru with it without any problems. it wasnt a virus either.
great game btw. dont rush it. do the sidequests.
Saves do not work properly with Vitality release either, I saved in one location using it, then when I reloaded the save, it put me at the start of the location before I had talked to a few people and had a fight.
I then put the latest overheat crack back in and the saved game loaded perfectly normally.
Stick with the overheat crack.

none of these cracks on here fix the over heating bug as i played it and when on the last boss all my guns over heat they were all fine until this point defeating the boss i used my combat rifle with infinite health and it still took me a hour
Why wine about crack only when it’s just an hour dowload?
Anyway, iND has released a crackonly, use a good tracker and µtorrent, and stop downloading from random RS links.
Or just use google and µtorrent, if you don’t have a good tracker.

This is a direct copy (rapidshare -> megaupload) of the rapidshare one posted on the main page….no edits no viruses….enjoy!
This version fixes few problems but not all of them.There is still a big issue about ingame freezing n stuff.All those problems are related to original game not only cracked ones.I bought the game and my PC is far far away above requirements and still it freezes every 5 minutes!A lot of people are having same problems like i do.Check BioWare Support forum and you’ll see what i’m talking about.There will be no crack for these freezing (lockups) problems until Bioware release their patch.
The funniest thing is that on some machines with same specs things works perfectly on other don’t…Guess they nid to fix a lot of things before this game can be played like it should be.
Also big up for those who figured out few tricks with starmap and savegame!

i have 2.2 ghz duo, 2gb ram and an nvida 7200 GS 512mb. The game has horrible framerate on my pc could this be becuase of the bad reloded crack?
This sucks. this is the best game released since last x-mas and NO ONE can make a friggin proper crack

Use the IND crack, it works. Played over 10 hours and works. Saving fine, galaxy map fine. No freezing problems. If you get the overheating problem use the IND crack fix. @FBI – similiar to mine, Athlon64 x2 2.2GHz, 2GB Ram, XPSP2, X1900XT 512mb.. No problems here.

Wonder why they locked that thread on the Bioware forum. Seems like a weird thing to do unless it’s crack related.
With the Vitality and the IND crack I get a General protection fault.
@Swankie – Check at the Mass Effect Forum, could be Vista related. Are you running Vista? I am sure I saw something on GPF at the ME forum.

finally the proper vitality crack.
i had to start a new save game using the vitality crack. the old reloaded save game was still causing issues with the vitality crack but the new save game is perfect.
performance is a bit higher using the vitality crack also.

Oh crap, I’m reading this for hours and can’t figure it out what is the best crack. I will use Vitality, hope I’m doing the right choice…

Definetly Vitality. The overheating problem is there but with the old saves.With a new game started NO overheating.
Vitality crack is superb!
Only issues are issues that are in the retail version.
So a green light for Vitality crack???

Yeah but the funny thing is I didn’t have a overheating problem until I did some of the storyline for the previous cracks, so what makes people think this one works?
Be nicer if someone could patch the VIT EXE to not overheat with previous saves if that is the problem. Also the VIT crack didn’t overheat stright away I used my guns for bit (overheating them) fine then it just kicked in after a few mins on the car.
Why can’t anyone give a clear answer, is the IND fixed for overheating crack, or the Vitality crack better?
Vitality’s is much smaller in size, so I’m assuming the IND has emulation?

between the reloaded proper iso and the IND crack there isnt a need for a vitality release. Unless this release fixes the lag issues?
For me between the VIT and the perm overheating crack, I didn’t notice any difference in performance. Maybe the PO crack (which uses VM) uses more CPU or something, but graphics wise I didn’t notice any FPS change.
I have AMD 4800+ X2 and an ATI HD2600XT and run the game on ultra high 1360 x 768 (no AA).
I would at least try the VIT crack if you can handle the overheating for previous saves on cracked releases. I would definatly use it for new games even if it does evetully break ^^.
“General thread exception” crashes the game before starting with this Vitality crack for me!
The crack by iND makes the game stutter with FPS-drops every now and then. ViTALiTY-crack is alot smoother and doesn’t stutter at all. ViTALiTY got rid of the entire protection from the .exe, it’s as smooth as can be.
I quick safe a lot and when I get the overheating problem , I just reload and try again. works for me.
Also when going to your ship and back also resolves the overheating problem and sometimes after a while I can shoot again. but reloading worked best for me.
I did post that the vitality crashes on startup and spits out a trojan, but i guess the blog deleted my post for letting all you guys know….

Vitality Crack works 100%, no more freezes, saving and loading works perfectly with my old saves, and I have never encountered PO issue either.
@168 If you’ve started with Ind crack, its ok as long as you haven’t used any console ocmmands prior to your game.. Playing using ind save and vitality crack, no problems so far….

I’m still having problems with this game. I have downloaded the detonation and reloaded releases. Tried every crack. Uninstalled and reinstalled countless times but I keep getting the same problem. Mass Effect freezes/hangs/locks-up on me every time on the same spot. Just right after the first mission in the cutscene where the geth ship passes by then it shows saren then boom. Freeze. Anyone encounter this problem? Using Vista x64. Thanks.

OK so Im just about to intall the game – I have the crack and key gen from Wiggaz post #45 which i believe is vitality. Is that the best crack available??? If someone could let me know either way as Im about to install – Ive downloaded RELOADED’s iso but it seems their crack is no good? Cheers.

As it’s the first time I de-UPX, tweak and re-upx (read: tear open, shoot guts, close belly) I’m very likely to have missed something. Yeah for example I broke the icon (but it seems to be normal when UPXing, though vitality managed to keep it).
if you get crashs, try normal vitality crack before saying their work sucks. Mine does, but maybe not theirs.
Basically, as PO is a bug of the game and not of the crack, it can’t be called a crackfix, has anyone got the proper word for this?.
I use reloaded + vitality crack and I have completed the game, no problems at all.

The ViTALiTY crack will work with RELOADED or DETONATION installs. All that’s different is the .exe file. You people really need to read more than just asking questions interminably.
Saves works fine for me with the vitality crack, I was using the russian save fixed crack before it.
Where are those nukes and unnukes posted? It would be great to monitor the process real time instead of having someone else to tell me here how some crack.is.bad_wait.for.another.one.

I just deleted the game from my PC!It sux coz i payed $$ for the game and still freezes like hell.Unplayable.I send a request to BioWare and EA and still nothing from them about helping me out.I’m not the only one who complains about this related problems.I did everything possible to play this game and it just can’t be played without freezing.Tried all kind of drivers and still no success or maybe there is a huge success if i can play without freezing for whole 30 minutes ?Screw that ,game needs to be played without any problems from start to end and nothing more.I wonder if they tested the game on different rigs or they just test it on one.This is worst than beta release.

i just beat the game with reloaded image and vit crack, everything works prefect except the PO issue. i guess its a game bug instead of cracks related. have fun with the vit crack guys!

use the vitality crack. They do not do emu cracks. It will run faster and use less ram then any of the cracks and the filesize will be much smaller.
I don’t feel like explaining the process behind it. Maybe someone else could take the time you educate you people but suffice to say. This .exe will be an improvement in performance over what the bioware people(legit) play. A significant one.

Yes well hopefully the ppl are bioware will release a patch soon to fix the game lag issues. I have a 2.8 GHZ cpu and a 7800 gs oc vidcard with 2 gigs ram and I know the game will lag on full, but the game lags alot still on the lowest features. I put setting in the configuration menu on low and I still get herky jerky start and stops.. most of it I think is from the antivirus, I had nod32 installed before and it sucked the fps into hell. I switched to kaspersky 8.0.0.357 and got more framerate, and I was also using IND crack.

for whoever got a 8800 card use the 169 nvida driver much less ram failures, gfx glitches and crashes. i switched to the 175 driver and all hell broke loss every 5 min crash lol. so stick to the 169, i played for 10 hours straight without any problems with that.

For those who have bought this game and are complaining about crashes and such, serves you right!!! Don’t support publishers/developers who release buggy games! Simply download and wait for a working crack. If any decent updates come along that make the game playable, THEN buy the game.
I recently purchased The Witcher, but only after the 1.3 patch which made the game stable. Got it for 20 euros (means I saved 25), and it works like a charm! I’ll do the same with Mass Effect, saves money and a lot of grief.

Yes, it can be installed without an internet connection. I disabled the connection prior to installing and it worked fine. Just paste one of the serials from keygen or one of those published online.

Got alot of 001,002,003 files. All good, joined them with hjsplit, but now i end up with a file called vty-0192 with no extension.
And if i add a .iso to it, it wont mount in daemon tools.
Any ideas what to do?
You can not use hjsplit, instead, open 001 file in winrar and extract it, you will get normal iso mountable in daemon…it fooled me as well, for a few minutes.
With the Gniarf fixed exe. iv never had that overheat bug. With the new 5mb from vitaly i have this too.

Okay try this exercise run the vitality crack alt ctrl delete. Check the memory usage. Run the vitality crack press alt ctrl delete. Compare the cpu and memory usage of the two.

FYI, the PO ‘bug’ is not a bug at all. It is game feature, and it shouldn’t be fixed. Read the official forums.

I was about to release the vitality+PO_attempt#2 when I noticed (thx JAD) that there is a skill that makes ennemy weapons stay overheat for a bit of time. Question: Does it still work with people using the ind PO fix crack? Or did I fck the skill along with the PO?

Well even Vitality crack has some problem… Like weapon overheating stuff… Then I tried the “The_MASS.EFFECT.PROPER.CRACKFiX.READ.NFO-iND” one and everything worked fine
By the way I’m amazed to see that Vitality packs their cracks with UPX and edit the header to make it hard to find that it has been packed… I checked the “MassEffect.exe” and it has been packed. The normal unpacked size will be somewhere around 40 MB… Is this is what Vitality doing all the time?
I thought they cut the unwanted crap and make the EXE smaller for better play, But they use UPX packer and make the EXE small and mock Reloaded for their 40 – 60 MB cracks? I’m very disappointed to see well known group like Vitality do things like this..
Vitality always mention about omitting VM and smaller cracks give better game performance performance… I bet they know that packing an EXE with UPX also takes some time to execute the EXE… Why did they do like this? Just to be safe because they tease all other groups about huge crack sizes?

1-Indeed it seems they tweaked the header, but personally I found it was UPXed when looking at the virus scans at the top of this pages.
2-The normal unpacked size is 30-31Mb (for me) while the reloaded takes 47mb so I guess they vitality removed 17 mb of seccrap.
3-UPX packing takes me about 1 minute (but yeah i f*ck the icon in the process and not vitality).
4-True, UPX packed exe take non zero time to unpack at startup, but not much (ie: I’d be surprised to see it taking 1s). But yeah, performance wise, it’s better not to pack them. On the other hand, samller file=less download time (and faster spread?).
5-Finally it’s some basic protection against non scene people(ie:me), it makes modifying the exe harder.
Still having problems with the VITALITY crack, or any crack at all.
Freezing, crashing, it doesn’t make any sense!!!
oh, and BSOD: NV4_DISP (running the latest nvidia drivers).

I have a installed the DETONATiON version and used iND crack. The game runs fine, however during installation, it did not ask for an CD key. Is this normal? or Have I screwed up with installation? Any help owuld be appreciated.
@ 258 Gniarf : Yes… you are correct. But I think if you use Ultra compression and archive the same EXE with 7Zip you will be able to shrink the file size to an UPX packed exe. Well for the icon problem try not to reallocate the exe header… It will help sometimes… But not sure..

UPX has no impact on performance, because when the execution starts, the whole code is already unpacked in memory.
Unpacking of UPXed code takes MUCH less than 1 second.

i pers. dislike this game. If u play only the “Main” Part u will find this game as a RPG of the Year. To me is not a RPG, more a ActionAdventure with RPG Elemnts.
The whole Manko Driving just s..s. I mean all Planets are EMPTY. No Flora or Fauna….how the hell can some “Gorillas” survive there ?
No food…also the drive seq. is bad. All this jumping,shortcutting etc….is boring. Then are the Fights with the huge “Snake”…im playing for 25h, i had to play 10h to finaly know what the spacerbar does in the game. To be honest, the Game its really HARD if u play without those “Buffs”..try it.
Stroy is Top,Graphics well its UT3, not the real UT3 from back 2003/4/5 ? Techdemo. Its ok, but like any UT3 Today, on closeups all the chars/clothes[nps] have bda textures.
Great Game playing only the MainQuest[like oblivion]. But if u play also the others Quests it gets really booring.

There is a tech talent called Sabotage which some geth can use against you, but it only lasts a short time. So the fact that the overheat lasts until a save-reload shows that it’s a bug. Feel free to release the fixed vitality crack knowing that you will be doing everyone a service.

the game works great, i downloaded the links posted at @133. thanks for posting on rs, I had the torrent downloading for 4 days at a ridiculously slow speed and it was only 10% complete but the whole thing only took a few hours to download from rapidshare.

Is it certain that all the triggers were caught with the Vitality crack? I notice that the nInvalidBuild variable in the BIOEngine.ini gets set to 1. It doesn’t have any effect but that something switches it from 0 to 1 suggests that something is still in there

Hi all. My first post here so go easy with me lol. I downloaded the game and when I mount the image with Daemon tools, the launcher starts up and then when I click install nothing happens. Like it freezes. I have mounted the image, opened up the game folder, opened up the vitality file and seen both the crack and keygen BUT I cant seem to copy and paste the crack in the vitality folder into the main game folder. Hence my dilemma. So what am I doing wrong? Any advice to help this noob get this cool game installed and working would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
There is not much too it friend.
There should be no reason why the files wont copy/paste into the game dir.
Are you sure you are pasting into the location on your HDD where the game is Installed and not trying to past them into the image that is mounted on Deamon Tools
(as obviously it is a Read-Only image)
That is the only think i can think of, they are just normal files like any other file.

@282 Gniarf Now I see what you’re saying. Well I seem to remember on the final level having a overheat happen for me where I didn’t shoot my gun very long and I had to retreat until it and my shields were fixed up. It could have been a normal overheat, but I was using a Master Spectre X assault rifle with a heat sink so I doubt it overheated from shooting. Certainly it never happened before when I was using it throughout the game.
Either way, I’m sure there would be people who would appreciate the PO fix using the “proper” crack (myself included) so just post it up. Who’s it gonna hurt?

It seems that sabotage still works. Ran 2 tests: both geths stopped shooting at me for about 20sec, but i’d be glad if someone could confirm.
One thing is sure: when the final boss shoots at me, my gun overheats.

This (vitality)crck is not 100% working, because when I get for example level VI of some weapons, the overheat bug manifests itself. In early stages of game, there is none of it, so it is difficult to track it down. I tried iND crack, and I think, despite of ocassional crashes ( one crash for the whole night ), it works just OK … No overheat anymore for me.

@299 There is a good thread on “overheat bug” in Bioware Tech forum and people narrowed it down to specific weapon upgrades that would cause overheat to appear, so it’s hard to say if crack or securom has anything to do with it.

That is IF YOU HAVE A LEGIT CD KEY.. But IF you are downloading releases from scene groups you need a crack to bypass activation… Also legit people could use this IF they are worried about getting their dvds scratched (If they are collectors of games like me).

I downloaded this version of the game but now I’ve gotten completely stuck. After I land on any planet, there is no way to get back on the normandy. When I press N, nothing happens, and there is no button anywhere on the map or elsewhere to get back on the ship or leave the planet. I’ve tried changing the key, but nothing works. Is there any way to get back on the ship?
You have to be in the Mako if you want to leave the planet.

I’ve downloaded the torrent file and got a bunch of .001 and so on files + an sfv file. I joined the .001 files with HJSplit but got a file back without any extension. I tried making it a .rar but it was corrupted and making it a .iso didn’t do any good.

Both the Gniarf and Vitality cracks have the overheating issue, but Gniarf’s doesn’t manifest itself till like half way through the game whereas VTY’s happens on the very first level.

Hey for those looking for a place to upload other than rapid share and co. There is a new wave of sites that call themselves ‘virtual operating systems’. Almost all of them offer storage, and almost all of those that do provide a way for you to share files.
Just create an account, upload the file to your storage (they provide FTP access as well as an applet for upload) and right-click the file, select share, and it will give you a url. Post that URL here and anybody can download the file (no account needed).
I used one such service, G.ho.st (http://g.ho.st), to host a CD image that I needed to send to a friend in a different country

This game is excellent, the pc version is much better than the 360 version which was amazing to begin with. I would most definitely buy it for pc if the retail copy didn’t need online activation, but since my gaming pc has no internet I wouldn’t be able to install it.

Important!
Overheat bug (has nothing to do with the crack) has to do with TYPE OF BULLETS. Try ammo “VI” at highest cause very powerfull ammo causes overheat. I realise it and now I can play regulary!
not really i have had different ammo for different weapons and when the overheating glitch appeared in say a rifle i have switched to a shotgun which overheated as well..(and then pulled a gun and the glitch continued when i fired couple of rounds – all of the firearms had different ammo). I think its an ingame bug cuz people that had original and X360 version experienced it as well
anyway today Bioware released the Bring down the sky addon to PC.. it requires the original cd-key… any luck running it ?

Patch 1.01a has gone out. It seems that the SecuROM version has gone up as well.
If SecuROM is gone that is meaning that you dont need crack or what?

Yeah, I’ve been trying to find the 1.01a crack myself. Seems though the scene is holding this one to themselves for a little while. Or the new updated SecuROM version is a b***h to crack (something I doubt though…)
WTF.. still no crack for the update.. i’m surprised that the game was cracked in a few days, but the crack for the update is taking so long.. i think maybe, reloaded & vitality guys have completely forgotten this..
Well they got owned on 1.0 & now there’s been 1.01 & 1.01a as well as the downloadable content which apparently needs a cd key to install… I doubt we’ll ever see a crack for it. Personally I’m thinking of buying the game so I have a legit activation but not sure if backing up all modified files & registry would be enough to allow me to “reinstall” it as many times as I wanted.
