Mass Effect-DETONATiON

A long anticipated game hits the scene, Mass Effect pre’d by grp. DETONATiON, i guess the game will hit like a bomb… “haha :| ” I cant play it since, my machine is prolly too bad, but all you who can, have fun :)

Note:

Mass.Effect-DETONATiON got nuked for:stolen.bad.crack_galaxy.map.doesnt.work saving.stops.working.after.a.while

iMPORTANT NOTE:

One of the RLSLOG users seems to have found a proper way to play this game:

So…my turn to stem on the podium? Well..

ME: 0_W_N_E_D!

I won’t more than:http://rapidshare.com/files/119884433/MassEffect.CT.html
This is a .CT table, meant to be opened with Cheat Engine (google for it, it’s a freeware anyway)
PROTOCOL:
-launch Cheat engine (CE in short)
-open MassEffect.CT with cheat engine
-start game (russian or reloaded proper with savegames dunno size=48 956 922 bytes)
-at the main menu, alt tab to CE
-in CE open your game (corner left icon with a computer)
-select all lines in the bottom pane
-press space (all tick boxes near “no description” should be ticked)
-re-alt tab to mass fx
-wait a loooooooot (like the loading, but you see your desktop)
-load savegame
-PLAY!!!

Works for me, i don’t provide technical support.

—————————————————————–

Developer BioWare has always been at the forefront of progressive storytelling in games, so it’s no surprise that Mass Effect’s story is one of its best yet. It’s got a unique take on the chase-the-bad-guy-across-the-universe plot, and just when you think you’ve got everything figured out, the game throws you yet another surprise. BioWare has created a politically charged universe with an exhaustive backstory and filled it with a bunch of interesting, multifaceted characters. Combined with an exciting and unique combat mechanic, it makes for a fun and absorbing experience that you’ll want to see through to the end, just to see how everything turns out–even if the game isn’t perfect by any means. In fact, it’s surprising that so many small annoyances and glitches made their way into a game of such general high quality. Still, most players will be able to look past them and enjoy Mass Effect for what it is: A terrific role-playing game with great production values and fun, exciting action.

As in most role-playing games of this nature, you begin by customizing an avatar. You play as Commander Shepard, potential savior of the galaxy, but there’s plenty of room to mold him or her as you see fit. Physical customization isn’t as deep as you’ll find in something like last year’s Oblivion, but the system is relatively robust, letting you choose from a variety of preset features, and even letting you round everything off with a scar. Shouldn’t every badass commander have one? Of course, you’ll also choose a class. In this case, you’ve got six to choose from, each with various strengths in combat, tech, and biotics (Mass Effect’s sci-fi equivalent of magic). More impressively, you will select a few autobiographical tidbits–and these choices aren’t just for show. Through the course of the game, characters will refer to your past, and your resulting dialogue options will allow you to react to their comments with various degrees of humility, wistfulness, and scorn.

    I did a quick check and look what I found in the engine.ini:

    [WinDrv.WindowsClient]
    AudioDeviceClass=Class’ISACTAudio.ISACTAudioDevice’
    StartupFullscreen=True
    EditorPreviewFullscreen=False
    StartupResolutionX=1680
    StartupResolutionY=1050
    UseVSYNC=True
    MinAllowableResolutionX=0
    MinAllowableResolutionY=0
    MaxAllowableResolutionX=0
    MaxAllowableResolutionY=0
    MinAllowableRefreshRate=0
    MaxAllowableRefreshRate=0
    ParanoidDeviceLostChecking=1 <<< This could be it.
    EnableDynamicShadows=False
    TextureLODLevel=3
    FilterLevel=2
    bShowSubtitles=False
    UseHardwareCursor=False
    ButtonRepeatDelay=0.100000
    InitialButtonRepeatDelay=0.200000
    MinDesiredFrameRate=35.000000
    DisplayGamma=1.600000

    I’m going to try and change it, I’ll let you know if it works. If it does, it’s required that you make the file “Read-only” so it can’t change it.

    Omfg, it worked, I swear! Just make the file read-only after you changed the ParanoidDeviceLostChecking=1 to 0.

    yay! now need to fix the galaxy map bug only (If this doesn’t fix it already! I am not there yet (Reinstalled and restarted a few times, so try it if you can!)

    I will copy/paste the part I just typed on the demonoid version of this release:

    I got a permanent fix for your savegame issues, the only way you WON’T be able to save is when you’re in combat, so just kill every mob on your radar, holster your weapon and you can save, this includes quicksave and manual save:

    Go to your \documents and settings\%username%\My Documents\Mass Effect\Config file. Open BioEngine.ini:

    [WinDrv.WindowsClient]
    AudioDeviceClass=Class’ISACTAudio.ISACTAudioDevice’
    StartupFullscreen=True
    EditorPreviewFullscreen=False
    StartupResolutionX=1680
    StartupResolutionY=1050
    UseVSYNC=True
    MinAllowableResolutionX=0
    MinAllowableResolutionY=0
    MaxAllowableResolutionX=0
    MaxAllowableResolutionY=0
    MinAllowableRefreshRate=0
    MaxAllowableRefreshRate=0
    ParanoidDeviceLostChecking=1 <<<Change this to 0
    EnableDynamicShadows=False
    TextureLODLevel=3
    FilterLevel=2
    bShowSubtitles=False
    UseHardwareCursor=False
    ButtonRepeatDelay=0.100000
    InitialButtonRepeatDelay=0.200000
    MinDesiredFrameRate=35.000000
    DisplayGamma=1.600000

    Make sure the .ini is READONLY (So the game can’t switch it back to 1 again) and you can save all you want. Note that you can’t make permanent changes to your settings such as resolution and quality, if you want to do that, remove the readonly part of the ini, change it, and add the readonly part again.

    Could you verify that you edited the right ini and made it read-only? I’m positive it worked, since I had a lot of saves before which, when loaded, couldn’t save anymore, I tried 15 different saves, and now they can all load again.

    This can’t possibly be coincidence right?

    Let me know if it works for multiple people, or doesn’t, though, since then we’ll have to look again.

    By the way; I made sure the InvalidBuild was set to 0 as well to get rid of the annoying message that pops up for some users.

    Oh and
    >>254
    There also seems to be a different error with users that have their default documents set on another drive, but that’s an entire different problem, something about manually creating \documents\Mass Effect\ on that drive you set the default documents to.

    My solution should work for people who didn’t change their location of their \documents\ (Could vary slightly due to Win XP/Vista)

    No crack yet, only cheats that allow us to “Spawn” on other planets, and I found a way to save a game through console (If you could save already the normal way that is)

    For those people where my save solution DOESN’T work; try typing in console:

    savegame 99

    and please let me know what error you get on the CONSOLE.

  25. Tom
    June 1st, 2008 | 05:21

    “Unable to save 99 on device Id 1″

    Any ideas?

  26. Cosmo
    June 1st, 2008 | 05:22

  27. Alex

    to 535

    Unable to save 99 on device id 1

  28. AI
    June 1st, 2008 | 05:22

    How I fixed the save problem is make sure that your main “My Documents” folder is on the same drive (directory) as your game installation. If not, simply (if your on XP) go to start<My Documents<right click<properties<Target and make sure that its on the same partition (or drive) as your game installation, if not, simply change the letter to whatever the game installation is on the target line.

    That’s exactly how I traced my first solution, which eventually worked for me. It’s disappointing to see it doesn’t work for you though.

    I’ll copy paste here on the info I gained from that message Tom:

    [copy]
    Unable to save 01 on device Id 1

    This could be a hint, saying that the game would simply “disconnect” the device to save, it’s just an XBox feature where there’s actually a physical hard disk present that can be removed. They were smart enough to “Emulate” it and make the game think it’s removed.

    So if the theory above is correct, you need to “only” make sure it can’t emulate it to make the game think it’s not there.
    [/copy]

    So that’s how I found out the solution and that worked for me at least :(

    Hi there.

    I changed the data in the ini as recommended, started the game again, no go. Luckily my pc crashed and had to restart, after that it worked 100% with the changed ini./ So basically, change the ini file under docs, restart your computer. You should be able to save then. Be sure to restart

    N 367 ppl. plz read It does work. DO it and just go to the exit from the ship by the Joker. Pick ur crew and ur done. It works. For restart + save stand by.

    here is the way all russians play ) and it really works

    1) go to MY DOCUMENTS and find folder Mass effect -> Config -> file BIOInput
    2) in that file find the line with the word “console” and write new line ConsoleKey=Tilde
    here is how it suppose to look like
    [Engine.Console]
    MaxScrollbackSize=1024
    HistoryBot=0
    ConsoleKey=Tilde
    TypeKey=None
    HistoryTop=1
    HistoryCur=1

    3) Here is a list of the planets u gonna type in console in game :
    Noveria – AT BIOA_ICE00
    Feros – AT BIOA_WAR00
    Virmire – AT BIOA_JUG00
    Caleston – AT BIOA_LAV00
    Ilos – AT BIOA_LOS00
    Oculon – AT BIOA_STA00
    4) start the game, go to your ship, press ~ , and write planet code on which u would like to fly ;)
    5) then wait for a loading screen, well u r on your ship again, but only right next to the planet u typed in console

    have fun ;)

    I remember fiddling the Editor.ini a long time ago (The one located in documents)

    And I might have changed something, this strikes awefully familiar:

    [BioSaveCheck]
    ;ConnectionString=DRIVER={SQL Server};SERVER=MSSQL1;UID=;PWD=;APP=Mass Effect;DATABASE=bw_sfx_appreg2
    ;Group=UnrealEd Admin

    I’m wondering if I ADDED the ; in front of ConnectionString like shown above, this in conjunction with my other fix might work. If it already was like this you can discard this reply :/

    June 1st, 2008 | 06:03

    Oh and, just like above, but absolutely sure this time, deleted something in the engine.ini, again, used together with the solution earlier might work.

    I remember I tried to use this at first and only worked for a short while, but now with the other one we might have a permanent solution. Keep your fingers crossed though:

    [Engine.PackagesToAlwaysCook]
    //+Package=EngineResources
    Package=BIOC_Materials
    Package=BIOC_WorldResources
    Package=BIOC_VehicleResources
    Package=OnlineSubsystemLive <<< Deleted completely
    Package=EntryMenu
    Package=BIOG_UIWorld
    Package=GlobalTlk
    Package=BIOG_GesturesConfig
    Package=Codex

    so now it looks like this to me:

    [Engine.PackagesToAlwaysCook]
    //+Package=EngineResources
    Package=BIOC_Materials
    Package=BIOC_WorldResources
    Package=BIOC_VehicleResources
    Package=EntryMenu

    You know, if someone feel like volunteering, why don’t you try my Engine.ini and User.Ini and see if it allows you to save now?

    Just hard to post links here… if you want a copy of mine just send an e-mail to

    XeneonicATgmail(dot)com

    *Prays this reply gets posted*

    Remember that I have my own settings, and the engine.ini is read-only, so graphics settings might be too high for you. Bear with it if you can; if 2 FPS can assure us my ini is a definite fix it’s worth it.

    (Resolutions at 1680 x 1050, and the rest maxed) so might be easy for you to edit before entering the game and setting it to read only.

    My monkey is mad about these errors. I did the 1st mission and then the saves and star map stopped working for me.

    hmm… I was just wondering why the “Save” folder in My Documents was marked “read only”? Could this be part of the problem or is it just supposed to be “read only”?

    results are in, and no

    >>574

    I have no clue, when I check the properties on my save folder, it indeed says that it’s partially read only, but when I check all files within partially, they’re not read-only at all…

  64. Godlike
    June 1st, 2008 | 06:27

    Look. Fact is, at a random time, after a random amount of saves the game goes corrupt. It can’t be fixed in the .ini files, obviously the problem is deeper than that, and made intentionally.

    Here’s my idea, this is the route I’m trying right now: changing time-stamp on saved games. no luck yet though.

    @ Al

    default for My Docs folder is in C: for windows XP. if you install the game on another partition, the target should still remain at C: shouldn’t it? I don’t think the game installation and Docs need be in the same location

    I’m starting to notice that once every auto-save you can’t save manually anymore… be it the “every 10 minute” auto-save or the “Important Mission Trigger” auto-save.

    Which could lead to >>577’s suspicions.

  67. Azurit
    June 1st, 2008 | 06:33

    577: I honestly don’t believe this is a deliberate antipirate programming, even though it fits the description (basically a demo). I think it’s just an unstable executable.

  68. Azurit
    June 1st, 2008 | 06:34

    I thought it was autosaves as well so I turned them off. Didn’t help.

    Quick observation I made…

    I’ve been playing the game through the console jump, and I’ve just been dealing with the save issue. Something I noticed though is that every time I enter the Mako, I am able to save as intended. I thought this was kind of strange. Anyone else experiencing the same thing?

  70. asdf
    June 1st, 2008 | 06:38

    582: Indeed, the save issue does not appear to hinder saving while in the Mako.

    For those who doesnt know Mako is the APC in Normandy.

    June 1st, 2008 | 06:41

    Very convenient way of thinking. Then why don’t there overhelming crying on official forums about this? %)

  73. Xeneonic
    June 1st, 2008 | 06:58

    Their issue was slightly different, it just produced the same results.

    Some users had trouble with Mass Effect because Mass Effect was looking for files in the wrong directory, because they changed their default documents and settings directory to a different partition. Theirs was also solved. I tried producing the same results to no avail.

    There weren’t many people complaining though, 10 at most.

  74. obis
    June 1st, 2008 | 07:03

    yes, saving in the Mako works fine so I don’t think it’s deliberate, or anything from an .ini file. Alas, I think we have to wait for a new crack, though I’m happy to be proven wrong :)

    Lol, some people claim they managed to get it to work (On the comment page above this one about Mass Effect:

    after 10h of gametime i lost it all after jumping from 1 loc to other. Well, no point in crying since i AM using a cracked version etc. Ppl using console commands for jumping from loc to loc – beware. Somehow my char went from lev ~20 to lev 1 and autosaved on that =) Heh =) tough cookies ppl.

    Anyone else having a problem trying to leave noveria after arriving via the AT bioa_ice00 workaround? Once I finish the objectives and it says to leave via the tram you arrive in, I do so, and then see a load screen. Once it’s “loaded” I just get a black screen, but I can move the camera and make out vague shapes. It’s like the lighting system dies. Can’t find anything on the official forums and wondering if it’s broken-crack related.

    At the black screen, you just use at to move to feros or another planet and it’s back to normal mission complete. Trying to go back to ice00 results in the same normandy-without-lights.

    Look GUYS as Claude mentioned that thing with the galaxy maps, i figured out a easier task, when u access the galaxy map by pressing (E) u have to rapidly press right click, and u will be able to see the map!!! Now, the thing is…that u can go there, but not land on the actuall planet…the orbit of the planet gives u a black screen which u can still get out of by pressing 3 times right clik! :/
