Mass Effect-DETONATiON

A long anticipated game hits the scene, Mass Effect pre’d by grp. DETONATiON, i guess the game will hit like a bomb… “haha :|” I cant play it since, my machine is prolly too bad, but all you who can, have fun :)

Note:

Mass.Effect-DETONATiON got nuked for:stolen.bad.crack_galaxy.map.doesnt.work saving.stops.working.after.a.while

iMPORTANT NOTE:

One of the RLSLOG users seems to have found a proper way to play this game:

So…my turn to stem on the podium? Well..

ME: 0_W_N_E_D!

I won’t more than:http://rapidshare.com/files/119884433/MassEffect.CT.html
This is a .CT table, meant to be opened with Cheat Engine (google for it, it’s a freeware anyway)
PROTOCOL:
-launch Cheat engine (CE in short)
-open MassEffect.CT with cheat engine
-start game (russian or reloaded proper with savegames dunno size=48 956 922 bytes)
-at the main menu, alt tab to CE
-in CE open your game (corner left icon with a computer)
-select all lines in the bottom pane
-press space (all tick boxes near “no description” should be ticked)
-re-alt tab to mass fx
-wait a loooooooot (like the loading, but you see your desktop)
-load savegame
-PLAY!!!

Works for me, i don’t provide technical support.

—————————————————————–

Developer BioWare has always been at the forefront of progressive storytelling in games, so it’s no surprise that Mass Effect’s story is one of its best yet. It’s got a unique take on the chase-the-bad-guy-across-the-universe plot, and just when you think you’ve got everything figured out, the game throws you yet another surprise. BioWare has created a politically charged universe with an exhaustive backstory and filled it with a bunch of interesting, multifaceted characters. Combined with an exciting and unique combat mechanic, it makes for a fun and absorbing experience that you’ll want to see through to the end, just to see how everything turns out–even if the game isn’t perfect by any means. In fact, it’s surprising that so many small annoyances and glitches made their way into a game of such general high quality. Still, most players will be able to look past them and enjoy Mass Effect for what it is: A terrific role-playing game with great production values and fun, exciting action.

As in most role-playing games of this nature, you begin by customizing an avatar. You play as Commander Shepard, potential savior of the galaxy, but there’s plenty of room to mold him or her as you see fit. Physical customization isn’t as deep as you’ll find in something like last year’s Oblivion, but the system is relatively robust, letting you choose from a variety of preset features, and even letting you round everything off with a scar. Shouldn’t every badass commander have one? Of course, you’ll also choose a class. In this case, you’ve got six to choose from, each with various strengths in combat, tech, and biotics (Mass Effect’s sci-fi equivalent of magic). More impressively, you will select a few autobiographical tidbits–and these choices aren’t just for show. Through the course of the game, characters will refer to your past, and your resulting dialogue options will allow you to react to their comments with various degrees of humility, wistfulness, and scorn.

Anyone have any idea about fixing saves? It allows you to save sometimes, but sometimes it doesn’t, even when out of battle. Such as the Citadel… and forced auto saves don’t seem to come too often.

In my case I’m on Noveria at Peak15, and haven’t been able to save anywhere around Peak15, only about 5 minutes before it, making it quite the pain in the ass if I die.

If it’s any help I can put up a bit of text here that shows how you can auto-save more often (up to each minute).

I don’t know of an other workaround other than that though.

Please, definitely need help with that too! I just got to a certain part in Noveria or w/e, the snow level, once inside the compound, I probably went through 30 minutes of playing and not being able to save once, no auto save either, I refuse to play if I cannot save at least a couple times during that sequence, you go through many battles and cannot save, very very annoying.

The console works for the planets, i would guess you can somehow save with the console too. Haven’t found the right command yet though. Both quicksave and autosave won’t work.

I think the real problem is you can’t go to any uncharted worlds. Still gotta have that new crackfix..

If the crack exe says you game has been compromised you just have to use the auto-launch, that one will work.

I got this other bug now, at one point the elevator door won’t close. Since i couldn’t save i have to do most of the fighting i did on Novaria all over again. Oh well, guess i should have bought the game then. I hope i can get further next time, untill a new autosave. The game is thankfully fun enough to do that over again.

    May 31st, 2008 | 22:09

Actually you can go to uncharted worlds.

    For example try AT BIOA_UNC10
Full list of uncharted worlds is in the
    Program Files\Mass Effect\BioGame\CookedPC\Maps\UNC
    folder.

If anyone finds the uncharted world with the Asari party member on it, please post!

So this is how I got this working.
    1. I deleted the Bioware folder from My Computer
    2. I started new game, but this time I used the default character, didn’t even change the name.
    3. Then I just started playing and it seems to be working, 10 hours into the game and saving works, and even the galaxy map works.
Tried with both Detonation and Relaoded cracks and both works.

    May 31st, 2008 | 23:55

I’ve tried the KitKats way and it works for me. I’ve used the default character, not changing name, went very quickly through the first part of the game. I could quicksave whenever I wanted, and there’s no galaxy problem (previously I’ve customized my own hero - a woman though :) seems like a customization is a problem. Anyway now I’m happy and I can play the game!!!! One thing more, I didn’t accept Wrax as a part of my team (I didn’t take him at the beggining, he was by the elevator to normandy then, still I didn’t accept him to join my team. Could that be any of reasons of the game working? Think not.

KITKATS way DOES work, you have to completely delete your Bioware folder in My Documents, im not sure if deleting the folder has more to do with it, or starting with the default character, or it takes both, but I do know that deleting the folder, and starting with the default, does work.

OK, tried that delete-thingy of the bioware-folder… now I beam me right at the beginnig of the gam straight to another plant… and wow… now I dont just wake up in ront of the map in the ship… there’s an intro when the ship is coming near the plante I wanna land on… it works! played it now for almoust an hour and no crashes there… but autosave doesnt recognize somehow ._.

  54. Paroxysm
    June 1st, 2008 | 01:08

What Kitkat says works until you exit the game and enter it again.

I removed the Folder named ‘BioWare’ in ‘My Documents’ then started the game with a new character (Default, though I don’t think it matters).

I was able to auto save at any point and access the galaxy map and reach any planet, etc, etc. But after I exited the game and re-entered it I got that ‘game has been compromised’ message ya’ll are talking about and it all the problems pop up again.

  55. medive

I started with new char[John Shep.] and i could save the game alltime[like in the City, u cant save the game with custom char].

About the Map Problem, u will have this with pre-made and custom char.

we should find what is modified since we can manualy unzip part of the game from the cd

  58. punpun
    June 1st, 2008 | 01:31

“Game is compromised” appears because nInvalidBuild gets set to 1 in BIOEngine.ini. Setting it to 0 makes the message disappear if you start again. However, the game will set nInvalidBuild to 1 again. Not sure why, but I suspect not being able to save games is connected somehow.

Well… I found a way to save at any time, though it’s an annoying process every time you want to start the game up.

If you delete the file ‘Profile.MassEffectProfile’ in your save folder in my documents\dioware\masseffect\save and re-enter the game, resume game, then exit the game, then re-enter the game, you should be able to save at any time once again.

The next time you exit the game, you have to repeat the process over again.

That annoying compromised message still props up though, and I still can’t get into the map where you see all the profiles of the planets.

  70. flos

yes but for scene grps its a rat race for scoring points - who releases it first (and hopefully working), on the other hand it’s hard to blame them since they probably didn’t know that after a few hours of gameplay the game fuxx up - so just sit tight and wait for proper.proper ;)

I find it hilarious that Reloaded whined about DETONATiON stole their crack, release a proper one, and it turns out both are crap.

If DET releases a crack that works faster then Reloaded, il give them all the props for this release ;) If they dont, we know they havent got the skill to have done this on their own anyways.

OK ppl I want to test a workaround out and I need some help and suggestions to whether it can work…

From the information collected here it appears you can play fine if you

    1.first delete your X:/my documents/Bioware folder

2.set nInvalidBuild gets set to 0 in BIOEngine.ini

3.wright protect BIOEngine.ini to prevent nInvalidBuild setting back to 1

4.starting a new game from the exe in the game folder and playing with the default char

apparently this has worked for some until they restart the game.

What I want to try is a full fresh install with no trace on my system and making these setting before I even launch the game for the first time. But I need help on clearinf EVERY trace of the game from my system inc .reg files etc

  73. Bored Moose
    June 1st, 2008 | 02:40

I think the reason it breaks is because of the BIOEngine.ini getting modified and I want to prevent any chance of that happening from the get go.

  74. Cosmo
    June 1st, 2008 | 02:44

    Bored Moose/480:

The invalid thing is just a flag to popup the window, modifying it to 0 and leaving it there does change anything besides the nagging screen poping up.

Also, if you were to do a fresh install, then most likely i think you chould play the whole game aslong as you do NOT restart it. That seems to be the thing that brakes it.

  75. 213
    June 1st, 2008 | 02:48

that implies that the whole save system is corrupt
if so when the proper crack pops up then maybe our saved files wont work with the game???
    are my assumptions wrong???

  76. Bored Moose
    June 1st, 2008 | 02:49

Yeah I know guys, I rly don’t know how they tested it but obviously not thoroughly enough. I have had a couple of solid rlses from them in the past. but all I was saying is maybe “another group” may have grabbed their rls and garnered some info from Reloaded cracks and added the extra polish to it if u know what I mean.

  77. Bored Moose
    June 1st, 2008 | 02:51

  78. howe
    June 1st, 2008 | 02:57

still no confirmation on whether or not it only breaks once you restart the game……

  79. AI
    June 1st, 2008 | 02:58

Exactly, we need to find out what changes after the restart, cause if you start on a fresh profile, I guess it has to be default character? Anyways, do that and delete the bio folder it works, until you restart of coarse.

  80. AI
    June 1st, 2008 | 02:59

Restarting DOES cause it to break.

  81. Bored Moose
    June 1st, 2008 | 02:59

LOL I don’t know I’m just throwing suggestions out here in the hopes some one may find out what’s causing this.

Another thing is I didn’t get the pop up until I launched the game through the main launcher, if I start directly from the exe in the game folder it doesn’t pop up.

  82. Bored Moose
    June 1st, 2008 | 03:02

If U delete the bioware folder and start over it’s ok again right? until u restart of course.

  83. AI
    June 1st, 2008 | 03:05

Yes, I dont think it has to do with having the default character like once thought. Still not sure though.

  84. Bored Moose
    June 1st, 2008 | 03:10

OK My point was that the file thats breaking the game is stored in that folder so we know where to look for other files that may have changed if it is one file thats causing the map to break.

If restarting the game simply corrupts all the save files up till then, then we are screwed

Another thing is How are the files been modded unless part of the DRM is still calling home?

I mean the crack allows the game to start in the first place right? so it really shouldn’t be a problem.

maybe the problem is the online autentication, the first time you play the game it connects to the internet and checks if it’s everything allright but using the crack this doesn’t happens so the game doesn’t get autenticated (maybe the online check activates something in a config file or something like that. i don’t think that a simple crack would be enough…..the game checks online the cd-key, how can we simulate that? maybe with the check is created a serial code used to autenticate the game

yeah that’s what i was asking. whether or not default char has anythign to do withit, or the breaking has all to do with restarting the game. i could live without restarting the game. my CPU can handle it. until someone releases a new crack anyway..

To be honest, even if you delete the config files in the bio folder it still wont load the map, it probably corrupts the saved files, good luck with that.

Vanon, perhaps you’re right but I cant see how U can still access all the content before restarting,

what you’re saying is basically the crack act’s like a one time only activation.

so upon first install, can we make custom character and have it run without glitches until restart?

I doubt they’d go to that extreme of a measure to prevent piracy. For example, say i get the game, crack dosent work, i buy the new game, i whould want to be able to use my “cracked”-time save game files.

The worst i saw related to game protection in this matter was in Darkstar One, where a detected crack whould make prices MASSIVE in the stations, making the game almost unplayable.

Explanation for you who can’t exit the Normandy after using the console command:

If you managed to get your ship into orbit before using the command (by spam right clicking whe opening the galaxy map), the ship will stay in orbit when using the console to move your ship.

In other words, make sure you don’t go any further after just entering your ship after the citadel, so that you can see the door switch being active at the ship exit- when you type in your console command for WAR00 or whatever.

It’s so awesome, the way the dicussion is progressing so quickly in such a short time with people actually working together trying to find a workaround. Looks like a proper research project. It’s quite magnificent.

Yeah, cept for us having no real clue, and the discussion mostly being “What if its this, or that, or possibly that? Maybe even this, or that”.

Azurit> Man, you should’ave seen it back when Assassin’s Creed came out. We made a goddamn IRC channel specially mde so we’d fix it faster.

Obviously, that dident work, and we had to wait two weeks for the official release. xD

Uh, I’ve been playing past the citadel for a while now, using the console to go around.

If you haven’t spammed the galaxy map in your ship yet, then it’ll work. Everyone should have an autosave from before you become captain anyway.

When you type in the console command, you’ll automatically be taken to the squad selection screen and leave the ship.

Better still, every time you land on a planet, you save, and every time you return to normandy, you save. Also, quicksaving worked like it should on both planets I’ve been on since the citadel.

Now I’m trying to figure out the name of planet Therum’s console command, for the main story.
