A long anticipated game hits the scene, Mass Effect pre’d by grp. DETONATiON, i guess the game will hit like a bomb… “haha :| ” I cant play it since, my machine is prolly too bad, but all you who can, have fun :)

This is a .CT table, meant to be opened with Cheat Engine (google for it, it’s a freeware anyway)
PROTOCOL:
-launch Cheat engine (CE in short)
-open MassEffect.CT with cheat engine
-start game (russian or reloaded proper with savegames dunno size=48 956 922 bytes)
-at the main menu, alt tab to CE
-in CE open your game (corner left icon with a computer)
-select all lines in the bottom pane
-press space (all tick boxes near “no description” should be ticked)
-re-alt tab to mass fx
-wait a loooooooot (like the loading, but you see your desktop)
-load savegame
-PLAY!!!

Works for me, i don’t provide technical support.

You play as Commander Shepard, potential savior of the galaxy, but there’s plenty of room to mold him or her as you see fit. Physical customization isn’t as deep as you’ll find in something like last year’s Oblivion, but the system is relatively robust, letting you choose from a variety of preset features, and even letting you round everything off with a scar. Shouldn’t every badass commander have one? Of course, you’ll also choose a class. In this case, you’ve got six to choose from, each with various strengths in combat, tech, and biotics (Mass Effect’s sci-fi equivalent of magic). More impressively, you will select a few autobiographical tidbits–and these choices aren’t just for show. Through the course of the game, characters will refer to your past, and your resulting dialogue options will allow you to react to their comments with various degrees of humility, wistfulness, and scorn.

    Yea if Cracking means open .exe in WinRaR everybody can make that, You just cant change one thing in meaning that WOW it wont have the – only the + . If you will replace or remove protection your game wont start, Jesus cracking isnt easy fun and normally its for The Most Inteligent time free people. Guess these people isnt reading RLSLOG or other thing like GIMME CRACK AND PLX WHERE IS CRACK ! I WANT CRACK ! etc. Just wait if it will be it will if no go play Arkanoid.

    If SecuROM is smart, they are not using just 1 validation function, but more doing all the same with some triggers calling function1, some others function2 aso, what would be hard to track. So you can either remove all the calls or cleaning up all the functions…

    But the scheme could also be totaly wrong…
    I wish i would have some more disassembeling experience/skills & time…

    actually, if i had a valid serial, i would be able to do a crack. well, not a crack, but a fake activation. i already did the proxy program (ssl), but i just dont know how the server is supposed to answer when the serial is valid :\

    i think its pretty safe to assume it will work fine with other versions. and by the time they crack the starforce in RUSSIAN version i dont think Bioware really cares anymore. they had their release and actualy sold quite a few copies to the frustrated pirates :) .

    I don’t think the Server just returns “Legit” or “NonLegit” or something similar… would be too easy.
    I think it returns some kind of counterpart code for a different code generated with your serial…
    and during runtime (when triggered [loadgame, story, etc.]) these two codes are compared or BOOLED somehow and than it turns out if you are a legit one or not. If not your manualSave, GalaxyMap (and maybe more) gets deactivated…

    For what I have seen, it should be that easy.. it just queries the server, and if the serial is valid, the server returns the licence information that the client stores in the registry. Even if there is some other protection involved, like some other serial, it should be easy to find out how it works… its not like cracking, you just have to check the assembly to see what math it makes. I have done it dozen of times. Anyway, with this game, even a regfix would suffice I think.. If only someone here just bought the game and did a ssl sniff and a registry compare :(

    Its internet check if you disable it will act like Invalid Serial. If you wont disabel you must have legit serial, Redirect to another adress ehre you can send all serials and it will act like YES ? imposible like never before, but it can be done. Now only detect what kind of data is sending and wha is downloading, changin it is the easies thing in this.

    Each time you activate, is requests the activation of serial xxx to server. after 3 times, the server negates the activation thats all.

    The server returns the correct SID for your setup that securom needs to authenticate your game. You cant simply fake that. It would take a serious amount of reverse engineering considering the SID also contains other information regarding the license. It’s too much work to consider :(

    The BadBoys(tm) say you can activate as many copies as you like with the same hardware…
    But only 3 times for different hardware…
    Btw. the request code could be something hardware-related.
    So if you change some hardware stuff, the code will differ and They see that this is a different/altered machine (-1 activation)

    i still think emulating an activation server is the wrong way.
    The missing xml stuff could be Certificate related (SSL). So you also could have the problem dealing with (partial) asymetric RSA encryption… you don’t know what the client does with the response or with parts of it…

    A request-code (hardware) and the serial (software) is all i would need to build you a nearly bulletproof limited activation process.

    unique serial -> server looks it up if it is valid and if yes it returns the counterpart code for comparsion during runtime when triggered.

    @MeMaMu: Sure securom must have various IsWarez1(),IsWarez2(),IsLegit1() checks but how many SID/hardware code generators do they have?
    ie: if someone takes it down so that it always outputs the same (valid) SID we would just have to sniff the activation server’s response & reproduce it.

    I thing the code will be like this. You write code (official working) you start game /Code is sended//Code is beeing scaned if its legal normal and working//If yes you will be awared by another code that is putted into Mass effect and makes it official uncracked/
    Without code you wont even know where you are.

    I would think that the server’s reply contains a hash of the serial, so it’s not always the same. Why else would they encrypt it?

    If the contents do not differ, then you can just send the encrypted data and voila. But if the contents do differ, it’s an entirely different thing to figure out the reply.

    My bet is that there are multiple hidden triggers in the game that calls multiple different copyprotection routines with some delayed after effect. These triggers can be hidden in all kinda of script eventa/actions or even the dialog script choices you make in some particular conversation may start one of its copyprotection routines. Delayed effects will also mask the cause and effect of this routine and making it hard to find. A slowly corrupting savefile is one good example.

    In TAGES CP for the game Operation Flashpoint the accuracy of your weapons slowly deteriorates from not so accurate which you wont notice to “you cant hit a barn” accuracy. For the cracker its hard to find the routine that started all that. You could try to monitor the multiple parameters that are needed for the calculations of the hit/recoil routines. Takes lots of time to do that.

    hey guys … whats the digital signature … and why does it say OK .. i mean … i just checked .. with the other cracked games the digital signature in the original exe (like assassin’s creed.)..is said to be not valid …but with mass effect it says its okay (look … i am not a programmer or related to IT at all …. i just am feeling useless and trying to help out in anyway possible…dont flame me lol)

    As i said… I believe the response/counterpart code is different for EVERY (valid)Serial. And is stored somewhere (probably registery).
    And if it is SSL (and not encrypted as seen in the sniffers) the response code could also need a Certificate-RSA decryption after it has reached the client before stored or before it is used to countercheck the serial… you don’t know what the client actually does with the response.

    And i believe, that Reloaded/Detonation just skipped the authentication part, so there is none(or bogus) countercode present, making the various validations during runtime turning the game into “Demo” to make them buy the product…

    hmmm, maybe EA released the Reloaded crack to give the crackheads some addiction, so that they will buy the game.

    wtf are you talking about guys? ONLY broken thing remaining is “load” feature. You start the game and manage to galaxy map without loading – it works, you load the game running cracked .exe – it doesn’t. You load the same effin saved game with legit copy it does. Basicly loading the game with cracked .exe sets wrong variable somewhere, probably nothing more than a couple of bytes. Can’t you effin compare
    game processes running from “new game” to those running from “load game” and find wrong bloody variable? How effin hard can it be?

    I think you’re right. But there’s must be one _root_ check somewhere in the code, which disables the copy protection triggers. The only effective way to find this check is to trace back one of the triggers (i.e. savegame trigger) to find that root check.

    It’s also possible that root check was located in original Securom code, noe destroyed by RLD. If it’s so, someone who wants ME to crack properly, must eliminate all the lower checks. A lot of hard work, I say.

    I am looking at the processes run as we speak but ffs, i’m using all these programs for the first time, it should be piece of cake for people who do it semi-professionally. Heck if its an issue of a variable loaded to operative memory(and it looks like it) it can be fixed by a trainer like program (sorta like the one enabling hot coffee in GTASA)

    Again, game does not have an effin idea it’s cracked until you load da game. Atleast map related protection works that way – only load related.

    So i’m just pissed that people for whom it would prolly be easy waste time and effort on some useless activation emulation.

    tested. Doesn’t work. GM problem ISNT save related. Legit saves were tested in all kind of ways on cracked .exe and pirated saves on legit one. Legit copy could load pirated saves and use GM, pirated copy can’t use GM after loading any saves.

    You can use Galaxy Map on custom char as well as on pre-made one as long as you don’t load untill getting there.

    No lad between start game and GM = GM works, confirmed many times.

    the q.e.d was only related to Reloaded = EA. I just came to this conclusion during my asumptions… erm… but btw. i have bulletproof evidence (containing nice powerpoint presentations) here right next to me, but i can’t show you because of security issues…

    But think about it… Isn’t the Reloaded/Detonation crack the best thing that could happen to EA?
    Have to check if Reloaded ever released games of EA and not only from other EA-profithindering companies. :-) And If there are Reloaded cracks for EA Games its just part of the conspirancy, just to disguise their real background… :-D

    Actually it’s quite annoying that people surround raping copy protection with some kind of mystery and discourage others from trying. Some of the methods used are not that complicated – look at early starforce rapes.

    Or for more recent sample : who released only working save fix for this very game?

    -nope, some unknown russian guy or gal. And i bet they didn’t do anything cosmicly complicated.

    Same with bioashock btw when release groups couldn’t do a thing for over a week.

    When I try to use the console to teleport to feros star
    i teleport there just outside normandy but im alone with no squad
    when i go back to the normandy by foot its all pitch black and i cant see anything
    so does anyone know how to get to feros and have a squad using console (since GM doesn’t work..)

    There’s alot of story in the scenes of you actually travelling to different systems (story related anyway) so i doubt transporting there will work very well, there’s some critical scenes you’re missing.

    @MeMaMu sorry, I knew nothing about SSL.-> so instead of sniffing the answer we would have to get the return value of GetSSLAuthCode() and make it returns the same (valid) one (assuming we all use the same serial & tweaked SID gen).

    Wait we can reinstall the game as much as we want on a given machine and with a given serial. So according to the “same input, same output” rule if i always input the same hardware code & serial I should always get an activated product (or am I missing steps?).

    “Reloaded = EA” I personally don’t think so, but the “half easy to crack, half hardnut” policy might be wanted.(clever indeed)
    Of course if we activate the game 100x/s it’ll look a bit fishy…

    Assembler crap… never liked it. Aren’t there some tools which convert this crap into some “higher” language?

    Oki some guy on a torrent site had a solution and several people confirmed it dont know how well this works.

    Try converting IDA output into VB code, then crack it. That’s how RELOADED did their crack.

    Google for “ASM to VB converter”.
