Martin Luther King American Prophet WS PDTV XviD-REMAX

I haven’t seen a docu on MLK before, so besides reading a wikipedia about it, a new documentary from REMAX is a breath of fresh air. The documentary brings to light that MLK’s mission was inspired and shaped by his religious beliefs, and therefore influencing his political views.

As the 40th anniversary of the civil rights campaigner’s death approaches, Oona King remembers Martin Luther King as a preacher who warned his nation that if it didn’t stop its reckless course God would rise up and break the backbone of its power. She embarks on a journey through the American South to reveal how King saw the civil rights struggle as part of a wider religious mission

Hey… don’t bash the guy’s opinion. We really don’t know if he was or was not. He’s dead so we can’t ask him, now can we?

No disrespect, but stay cool about it. He helped get a movement going that is still lasting to this day.

You can’t say much negative about him… I’ll still have more respect for MLK than any other leader/speaker/activist I’ve seen in my lifetime.

Would rather love to see the documentary.. Anyway.. whether he was a prophet or not one things for sure.. he commsnded respect thr his deeds and words.. personally i dont give much importance to this prophet thing.. anyway documentaries always shows people thr the view point of the maker rather than the view point of how the same people would love to be seen..

Any links please.. it would be greatly appreciated if they are not Rapidshare Links.. :)

    @18
I’ve seen you post some pretty inane BS in last few releases, you’re nearly as bad as ‘JohnnyRebel’, except with a thesaurus and dictionary.
Let’s get some things straight, kid. No, no, no, no and no.
Everything you say is wrong, you can’t argue correctly, you fail to reference any of your claims and you have no direct message you are trying to push aside from the fact that you are an immature pseudo-socio political/pseudo-intellectual internet troll and therefore we are only left laughing at your pathetic attempt to infuriate or defame any of members of this internet community.

    As for the release.
I won’t be watching this straight away, I know enough about MLK although if this contains some new footage or interviews, I might be inclined to watch it. :)

@11 MLK amounted to more with just his finger nail, than your imbecilic self (and your family) ever have, or ever will.

I agree with the governments plans for world depopulation, give them your home address, that would make a good starting point.

MLK was far from a saint but he was a great man who finally pushed through the issue of Civil Rights. He had his failures, and his shortcomings, but if these can be overlooked is up to you to decide. This is coming from a person who has studied American Civil Rights in detail for the past 4 years.

He was exactly what the Civil Rights movement needed, a strong, charismatic leader who could grasp the frustration and anger within the afro-american community and turn it into something positive. He used the media to his advantage, especially so at Birmingham, Alabama, against hot headed officials/police cheifs such as Bull Connor who played right into his hands and allowed the media’s images of their brutal violence to be played out across the world.

However, King was far from a saint. The portrayal of him to the wider public is as a man who could do no wrong, in actual fact he publicly admitted to being an adulterer confessing that “f@cking is a form of anxiety reduction,”….going out and humping every other woman while his wife and kids were waiting for him at home. There are other events which I probably won’t mention because I will get flamed by people who have no understanding of history…. but my advice: Do some research and reading before blindly praising or defending someone that you do not know the truth about.

@5 Koga is on the money

A hole in the head is what was required and it was fulfilled. Just a fact not a slur. You can see what greatness can be achieved by an African black being in power. Just look at Zimbabwe and South Africa for example. Oh and while we are talking how are you yanks going with Obama. Remember you get what you deserve :)

Number 25 and 26 should get their heads examined. It’s funny how without a shred of proof some idiotic thought can come to someone. I guess that’s what happens when you forget to take your meds. The Klan has killed women and children. They call themselves heroes and fighting for their heritage, but all they really are is a bunch of cowards who are afraid to show their faces. Why hide? Let the world see you. The KKK prey on unsuspecting people like cowards as well. I’m sure they’re the first to run when they’re in over their head.

MLK was a great man for his works. He risked his life for years giving speeches in racist America. He was no saint, he was a man who led when others feared. He wrote and spoke against a hypocritical government that spoke of freedom and liberty, yet their actions proved the opposite. You look into anyone’s history and no one is perfect. Someone being prophetic doesn’t have to be from divine inspiration. Many of the things that he hoped for the future have come true so that’s why you can call him a prophet.

And as for Barack Obama, it’s 2008 and I can’t believe there are still people who write disgraceful racist comments. I don’t know him personally, but he seems like a good and honorable man who is trying to make a difference. This only proves that racist America is still alive and well. Only the racists are scared to show their faces.

This documentary ranks as one of the most moving and affecting pieces of television I have seen in many a year. It focused mainly on the Christian beliefs that drove Martin Luther Jr. inexorably onwards towards his seeking his goal of equality. The presenter, Oona King, explored his life and found that his Christian belief was inseparable from the man and his cause. Now, however, Kings faith - the very thing that spurred him and his fellow protesters to face up to the shameful injustice - is often erased and replaced by a more secular image of the man.

Reading some of the pathetically pig-ignorant posts here it doesn’t take a huge stretch of the imagination to picture them some place in Alabama in the 1960’s swing their billy-clubs at the protesters.

Michael King (MLK never legally changed his name) was a womanizer (pretty common amongst any man with any power, real or perceived)most of the stuff he wrote he plagiarized.
