This sneaked in quietly a few hours ago without earning a lot of attention. Probably because we’ve had many big name releases yesterday that were released by top scene groups. So there came along group Larceny with their first release and brought us this comedy with Nicole Kidman and Jack Black. Not a half bad start.

Synopsis: NEW YORK PREMIERE AT NEW YORK FILM FESTIVAL 2007 (Limited) Writer-director Noah Baumbach follows up his Oscar-nominated THE SQUID AND THE WHALE with another bitingly funny and painfully honest dissection of family life. This time around, the topic is sisterhood. Margot (Nicole Kidman) and her adolescent son Claude (Zane Pais) take a train from New York City to Long Island, where Margot’s sister Pauline (Jennifer Jason Leigh) is about to get married to Malcolm (Jack Black). Even though Margot is a successful writer with a compassionate husband (John Turturro), she is repressed, bitter, insecure, and angry, and she takes out her frustrations on anyone and everyone around her.

    Rapidshare’s future in doubt following legal defeat

    The popular file-sharing service may be forced to shut down if it can not control the uploading of pirated music to its service after a German court ruling.

    The German equivalent of the RIAA, GEMA, won a legal battle in district court in Düsseldorf last week which found that Rapidshare should be held responsible for the uploading of infringing material to its site.

    Rapidshare has maintained that it could not be held responsible for the actions of its users, a now common defense among peer-to-peer services embroiled in such legal battles.

    However, like other cases, courts worldwide have tended to side with the rights holders. Under the terms of the ruling, Rapidshare will be forced to prevent the material from even appearing on the service, rather than being allowed to take it down after the fact.

    GEMA praised the ruling in a press release –that incidentally came out even before the actual results were handed down– calling it a “milestone decision.”

    “It sends out a clear signal that any services, which derive financial benefit from unlawful uses of our works, will have to take extensive measures to protect the rights owners and cannot simply evade liability by referring to the action of individual users,” CEO Harald Heker said in a statement.

    What happened to the spirit of sharing? Do you Rapidshare freaks really need to get your stuff an hour or two earlier than through the regular torrent channels? And you tell others to “get a life”? Rapidshare have identified your addiction and are taking your money in consequence. Whereas you could be sharing for free, if you had just a little more patience. Another sad reflection on the prevailing “I want it NOW” mentality. And now for some acerbic comments from the Rapidshare fans… :-(

    Hi guys,
    I made a mistake in the info saying it’s a 2 CD, 1.4 GB release, it is actually a 1 CD, 700 MB release.
    So It’s just a mistake, torrent is the right size.

    #7&9, the only way articulador and others gets adrive or yastorage links is becuase they can quickly get pred releases from rapidshare. Unlike you cheapskates, they all have rs premium, and all scene releases are upped that way. No RS = Very slow releases

    Anyone know if using newsgroups(usenet) servers are dangerous, because they are alot faster and easier than rapidshare (non premium) accounts. In my experience, newsgroups are also less hassle than dealing with torrents, because newsgroups are dependable. Newsgroups usually dont have fake files being uploaded with fake names etc. Newsgroups are also usually pretty fast. using around 90%-95% of your bandwith. Some ISP’s offer free newsgroup access and I was just wondering if I should try to find other means of downloading movies. Are ISP newsgroups dangerous? Are usenets that you pay for a better option?
    I dont see newsgroups (usenets) talked or linked much at all
    on this site.
