Before wetting the bed sheets over this guy, remember that it is no secret (even available on the show's website) that they stay in motels between days 'out in the wilderness'.

When he jumps in that river and comes out freezing, it's off to teh hotel or Winnebago for the night and back at it in the morning.

He knows survival but this show is just a demonstration of survival techniques, its not actually man vs wild while he's out there. Animals are brought in and scenes are staged to illustrate what you SHOULD do if caught in such situations.

If you take it for entertainment and a demonstration on survival techniques, its okay, if you think he's really out there surviving, you've been had.

Les Straud is light years ahead of this guy!

les stroud may be more realistic, but his show has little entertainment value and honestly bear is a bit more knowledgeable. sorry dude, but survivorman blows

Thanks this just what ive been waiting for. I have to agree with anthony, i prefer bear anytime. Les Stroud is just plain boring and is always whining about stuff. He also have bigger failing rate when it comes to making shelter or catching food. Bear is far more entertaining and those saying hes fake, i dont care the man risk his life for god sake. If those want real join the girlscouts or something.

motel6 rules if you dont like it then dont watch it. If youre all serious about the wilderness then do what Oogie said… JOIN THE GIRL SCOUTS!

BOTH Les & Bear's shows are good.

Bear teaches how find your way out w/i 2-3 days and doesn't stay at hotels every time. There aren't any in most of those places. Les usually teaches to stay put and survive 6-7 days while he sits & complains about how cold, hot, tired, hungry, cameras heavy, etc.

Did anyone or any rescue plane ever mistaken Les for a real stranded person and came to his rescue??? NO. LES would DIE in most of his episodes if he followed his own advice of staying put for 6-7 days and didn't have a safe camp staged nearby with a sandwich waiting for him after the 7 days.

How can anyone take anything Les Stroud says or does seriously after watching him drink from a puddle of standing water, after commenting about the numerous mouse or rat droppings surrounding it?

    @31 most of what places?
Like the "deserted island" survival he did, which was filmed at a resort he was staying at in Hawaii?

It is examples and creative filmiing, hardly reality. Perhaps he COULD survive that way in the real environment, but he doesn't on the show.

As the show's own producers said, they have to do everything within strict safety regulations, it cannot endanger the crew fiming him either. And swimming across a freezing cold river or scaling a steep cliff is the DUMBEST thing to teach ANYONE trying to survive. Risking injury when on your own like that is completely 'tarded! It's about as real as the Survivor Series, except without slutty, skanky women forming aliances.

HE'S okay, but the show is a fake. They wouldn't even broadcast it in Europe without them adding a disclaimer to explain that it is mainly a recreation of events that COULD occur.

HAWAII. You've ever been to Hawaii? I lived there. There are no deserted islands anywhere around there to pull off a Gilligan's Island type survival shoot. It's all built for tourism. There are little deserted islands such as "Chinaman's Hat", but it's got nothing on it. Do you want to watch Bear sit on a rock for 60 minutes? The point is to teach techniques.

And what survival are you talking about? Les just sits there, builds a shelter, and wait it out most of the time and he rarely is successful at catching any food. He forages and eats little plants & bugs. He even quit early on the Kalahari episodes b/c he ran out of water and dehydrated. If that were real, he'd be dead.

Bear teaches how to find a way out. They both teaches how to build fires, shelters, etc. Les knows where the safe camp is. He just camps and stay hungry and thirsty for 7 days and then goes to camp to get a burger. How is that reality?

  34. to clueless
    February 4th, 2009 | 05:31

What is survival? Sitting around and complaining about hunger & thirst for 7 days is not all there is about survival. Bear teaches how to scale cliffs is mostly due to him being dropped off on a mountain, duh?

What if no help came after 7 days and you're strength is all gone (no food/water) and you're on the brink of death? Maybe you should have scaled that steep cliff on day one when you had the energy and some food/water. It's a gamble to stay put or get moving. Like I said, BOTH shows are good. You're too busy swinging on Les' nuts to understand this.

I ASK YOU AGAIN, has any rescue airplane, etc. ever mistaken Les for a real person stranded? NO. HE NEVER HAD A RESCUE. He's only alive after every show is due to his crew with a campsite nearby.

When you find fake links, report them to Rapidshare (or other respective hosts) by sending them an email with the links and say that it's an illegal porn file in disguise.

It will get deleted. Get them back for tricking you into downloading a file you didn't want b/c they were trying to get premium points.
