Manhunt 2 rerated and scheduled to release
Rockstar Games’ much maligned horror title Manhunt 2 appears to be on track for a release this Halloween. Manhunt 2 was originally slated for release on the Wii, PlayStation 2 and PSP on July 10 but was temporarily suspended from release following ESRB rating the game AO for adults only. Rockstar Games was left with few options as it is Nintendo and Sony’s policy to not allow AO content on its systems. (Microsoft also carries the same policy, though there is no Manhunt 2 planned for the Xbox 360.)
Publisher Take 2 Interactive and developer Rockstar Games last week announced that it had submitted a modified version of Manhunt 2 to the ESRB, who has now rated the title “M” for Mature for ages 17 and older. The new rating is now acceptable by Sony and Nintendo, which paves the way for the game’s upcoming release this fall. “Manhunt 2 is important to us, and we’re glad it can finally be appreciated as a gaming experience,” said Sam Houser, founder and executive producer of Rockstar Games. “We love the horror genre. Manhunt 2 is a powerful piece of interactive story telling that is a unique video game experience. We think horror fans will love it.” Well, I don’t recommend playing this game during dark nights, as it looks really scary at some screenshots…

Its same with the ranks on movies in USA. If u get R-rated, then u can almost skip showing the movie at all. Because nobody will see it.

i too hope there will be a unrated PC Version … damn sony and nintendo … i don’t want a less brutal manhunt.. i really loved manhunt 1 and i hope manhunt 2 will be just the same with better graphics

well i love all of rockstars games and i have an I.Q. of 167. Just because you don’t like the game doesn’t mean everyone who plays it is an idiot. Why does it deserve to be banned? Why can’t they just let the public make up their mind for what is acceptable and what is not.

The “Rating organisations” are made for retarded parents who don’t know what their kid is doing when they are not watching, also this “law” is for the weak people, i surely am happy to live in Europe when everything is as it suppose to be, no stupid congressmen telling me what to watch and what to play.

Manhunt 1 sucked ass. It took like two levels to see all the different killing styles and after that it was all repeating itself. And the violence really wasen’t that bad, if you’d ever seen any horror films.
Well I have an IQ of 290 million and I liked Manhunt.
No doubt it will be released eventually uncut, maybe for the PC straight away.
Who knows.

WTF no AO content is lame. There are more adults then ever playing video games these days. They should be allowed to rls two versions. One for adults (AO) and one for adults that are to f’ing lazy to know what their kids are playing (M).
BTW for all the America bashing at least it’s getting rls’d in the US, BBFC wont even let it come out in the UK. In both cases censorship is getting out of control. Why can these conservative rating org’s just label it ADULT and let the public decide if it’s suitable for them.
The rating system makes no sense. I dont understand why they dont allow AO rated games to be released on their systems. M rated games are for 17 and over and AO is for 18 and over. Also stores like gamestop and eb don’t sell any M rated games to anyone under 18. It baffles the mind…. I suppose everyone assumes that AO = hardcore porn

If you read again, you’ll see that the censors did label it Adult Only, but Nintendo and Sony have policies to not release AO-rated games on their consoles – probably in an effort to appear family-friendly.
Therefore Rockstar had to make adjustments so the rating was reduced to M, meaning the game would be allowed to be produced for Nintendo and Sony’s machines.
I do agree that in cases like these, two versions should be released – we shouldn’t be denied something just because some uptight assclowns in a dark room say so.

They have the adult policy becuase the consoles don’t want any real adult games on their systems (Eg. Hentai/porn/just crazy insane violence like manhunt (3 things kids would be drawn to))
