Man charged with child porn over PlayStation 3

A Kentucky man is accused of persuading an 11-year-old Humble girl to send him nude photos of herself while the pair played video games online. Anthony Scott O’Shea, 24, of Somerset, Ky., has been charged with promotion of child pornography, online solicitation of a minor and sexual performance of a child. He will soon be transferred to Houston, said Sgt. Gary Spurger of the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office. The girl sent the man photos over the course of several weeks as they played games online with their PlayStation 3 consoles in December, Spurger said. “She realized what she had done and felt bad about it and told her parents,” said Spurger, who investigated the case and coordinated the man’s arrest with Kentucky officials. The Precinct 4 Constable’s Office routinely investigates child pornography cases, but this is the first case Spurger said he’s aware of where the online predator contacted a child through a game console’s online network.

“This is another venue these guys are getting to use now that hasn’t been seen before,” Spurger said. “They’re on PlayStation or Xbox playing online games.” According to court documents, the girl “performed” for the man using a Web camera. She said she met O’Shea playing the game Warhawk and that he had used the screen name “Thunder-kid.” During interviews with investigators, the girl said that the man “kept pressuring her for more pictures and wanted to set up a meeting with her in order to engage in sexual activity,” the court record states. The girl told the man that she was only 11, according to records. Spurger subpoenaed information tied to the screen name, which led him to O’Shea in Kentucky. On March 2, authorities searched O’Shea’s home. He acknowledged that he had been in contact with the girl and that he had received her photos, officials said. Authorities said they also discovered that O’Shea had distributed the girl’s photos to other people.

What's sick is the fact that this guys life is ruined because of some stupid little girls guilty conscience. I would much rather have nudes of me floating around the net than face the sex offender sentence this guy will have to endure for the rest of his life. The parents are the ones to blame. Why are they letting their daughter assosciate with someone who wants to see their daughter naked?

Its completely the parents fault for letting their kid play a esrb T game and not even monitoring a little of what she was doing online with the game.

I wouldn't blame the parents or bad parenting without knowing them first and experiencing their family. It's a little shortsighted to just throw out hey bad parents or they must use it to babysit their child.

The child in question is an 11 year old girl and most of the ones I know have cell phones already and are familiar with the internet. Almost all of them have Myspace pages or some form of blog page something I mean christ.

People don't seem to realize that the parenting burden has gotten much heavier the past twenty years. Cell phones, cars (more traffic), and more laws. I have to make sure what I buy isn't going to get recalled in a month or two which is very likely make sure all children have the proper seating and harnesses and worry about car seat expiration dates… What about formulas or breast milk and possible contaminations or even plastic poisons which are being removed now as when heated slightly can release certain toxins and poisons into your liquids.

Despite a parent actually trying to protect their child they have to monitor what they every waking moment? Get real it doesn't happen and the best you can expect to achieve is to raise them with a set of moral guidelines and hope they make the right choices.

I was in one of the local Wal marts getting a battery charger with one of my kids (son was five at the time) and some jerk tried to grab his hand and pull him aside while he was next to me. I would have killed that guy if I got my hands on him but I can't chase after him since it would leave my son behind and guess what? No one helped me or stopped the guy. One punch and he bolted and all people could do was stare after I stated he tried taking my son and he just ran out.

Seems more like everyone as a whole culturally and as a society allowed this to get worse.

Bastards who go for kiddie porn should be imprisoned for life IMHO… Those who rape em, let em have a long fall off a short rope.

Of course in this case, the parents screwed the pooch as well. TV & console games are NOT a replacement for responsible parenting or even a babysitter.

Even more so, WHY THE HELL didn't the parents sit the kid down before hand & tell her "if anyone asks you for naked pictures, get his ISP info & all THE COPS!"???? Oh yeah. Lack of responsible parenting.

    Sick stuff. Seriously sick.

What a loser, he should have gone for atleast a 13 year old. This is just a moral issue that will never go away, for centuries people had relationships and had kids just moments after puberty due to average life expectancy.

The girl seriously shouldn't be playing a rated 16+ game and she sent the pictures out voluntarily but the guy also should have stepped away right away. It's just child nudity and not pornography otherwise more people would be in problem when they take pictures of their babies or nude beaches.

My PC now, just happens to be a very powerful tv show machine, haven't bought a game for pc since i bought the ps3 a year ago.

Why the hell did she sent the photos in the first place? At my point of view shes the one to blame for, sure the guy is't any saint, but common, to make a nude show for someone just cos your asked? Dosen't she have any conscience of whats right or wrong? It seams that she does, but it toke her several weeks to realize. Kid's now a days know more than ever what they are doing, and she did it cos she wanted, and that is the real problem.

This is one of the features I love best about the PS3. I have a female screen name and a female avatar, and I have gotten four guys to jerk off on camera for me so far. It is the hottest thing, and best of all, they don't know I am a guy.

It is such a turn on to deceive them, and they get so turned on thinking they are pleasing a chick. I love it.

I would personally kill any child molester (or attempted child molester). There is virtually no crime sicker than that, and our punishments are far too easy.
However, the first question I asked myself when I started reading was "WhyTF does an 11-year-old girl have nude pictures of herself??? How much "persuading" does it take to get a sick little kid like that to post them for the world to see???? Something really wrong with the guy, no question. But this kid is a little warped too.

the problem is more & more s1utty girls are being born

  35. Pete
    March 15th, 2009 | 20:23

Let's get to the point, and the main reason for this case is because the girl exposed herself to the guy. I mean without it happening, none of this would have happened.

This is the real world and the reason why a lot of things are rated for certain ages is that because the world is indeed a dangerous place. Even when pressured, the girl CLEARLY had a choice. We really don't blame her for her choice but because of her child-like mindset, she succumbs to what the guy demands, very easily.

If the girl was at least 16 or so, she would have probably refused it because of her reinforced knowledge and sense of maturity as compared to a mindset of an 11 year old girl.

So the one really should be blamed here are the parents. They should have been more restrictive about the game ratings and internet access.

My point is, ratings are there for a reason.

I won't be surprised if there was a 10 year old boy with an axe, running around killing people just because some guy from the internet said he'll be gaining a level for each of every person he kills.

The kids fukked in the head but the guy is a perv to continue trying to get pictures from her after either finding out she was 11 or getting the first pic and seeing her like that.

And it is the parents fault, not in that they should monitor everything but to bring a kid up that she doesnt see how perverse and wrong it is and craves attention like that to send pictures of herself over the net shows their mistakes. Its not about being a firewall its about building your children up the right way making sure theyre healthy physically and emotionally to not crave attention like that.

@19 I don't believe they were sympathizing with the pedo, they pointing out that the parents were putting the girl at risk by letting her engage in an under age activity. I have no sympathy for the accused either but the parents have to take some responsibility. I mean what kind of child aged 11 actually does that in the first place? 11 year olds ought to be smarter than that; my generation of 11 year olds were certainly more switched on. Parents need to be better educated of the dangers of online socializing and also obey the rules and stop ignoring content ratings. Sorry, but modern gaming is mostly an adult pursuit; parents need to realize this.

  44. Mobi
    March 15th, 2009 | 21:06

@38 Any child aged under 16 that takes of their clothes just because someone they've never met asks them to do so has serious issues to begin with. If kids are happily losing all their inhibitions at that age there is something wrong with their upbringing.

  50. Chelmsley Prunefuc
    March 15th, 2009 | 22:28

barrygarry youre right. First and foremost worst of all is that this 24yr old pedo got naked pictures of this young impressionable girl. But their are a lot of questions and opinions for a lot of us about this, did he know how old she was when initiating the conversation did the girl start the converation? Obviously it wasnt all him pressuring her she was at least somewhat reciprocal to send him the pictures.

its a very strange thing, the reason all these posts are coming up is because its a given that the guy is a sadistic bully to many of us but then our minds picture the situation of a group of people playing online and how this conversation first initiated, turn to flirtation then to picture exchanging. The girl seems lonely to me to let it go that far.

For all those who want this guy right away want this guy locked away forever or shot, consider this:
Fact is, he broke a law (as soon as he saw the girl on the picture was 11y old and wanted more).
You reading this, probably broke a law too (copyright anyone).
Now you will say: But even the law thinks his crime is worse than mine, and i say: There used to be a time, where the law thought killing slaves is less bad, as an unmarried woman giving birth (or something like that).
    Now some will say:
What the guy did is against Nature!
Well it certaintly wasn't against his nature, and he did not choose his nature.
And everyone, who likes shaved p*ss**s: guess what, NATURally there would be hair down there.
And dont even get me started on: eastern countries and wildlife: There the weirdest things are "natural"

Children maturing quicker and Parents not understanding technology are some other problems you should think about..

I am prepared for people calling me a pe*o**i*e, but i just couldn't stand it, how some of you wannted a 24y guy to spend the rest of his life in prison, when he at least was playing a game he actually bought ( and not downloaded like most of us) (i guess because he was "using" it online).

P.S. Please charge the parents with negligence or something befitting if not to convict but to send a message to others who use the TV and gaming systems as babysitters.

does nobody remember being 11? when i was 11 i was one horny little gaffer. when i was 12 i did things with an 18 yr old and amazingly i dont regret it one bit, in fact i wish i had dont alot more in my young age.

so anyways, back to point.. So its ok to let young girls dress like whores, act like whores and idolize whores, yet when they are horny, its purly the fault of the man or boy?

and so its still ok and cook for a young boy to say get the teacher, or nail the university baby sitter, resulting in super social status, pats on the back, even proud dads in some case, but if its the other way around, stop the press, this girl was raped?

people are ignorant and stupid. Girls start fondling themselves at an average age of 8-9, and in todays world their heros are girls like Britt Spears, with her amazing message of Hit me Baby one more time, or opps i did it again, and the list goes on..

who cares about an 11 yr old horny girl when its ok to litterly SLAUGHTER THOUSANDS of little girls and boys in countrys like Iraq, Afgan, Vietnam ect…

The bottom line here is that the guy broke the law. And he will be punished in accordance with the law. He's obviously a mentally ill person and I hope he gets the treatment he needs so that when he finally does get through all of this controversy it doesn't happen again. Now on the other side of things there definitely shouldn't be a webcam openly available for an 11 year old to use. Webcams are basically sex toys and when purchased their inteded purpose is usually to show people yourself in provocative situations. Little kids have access to the internet yes but little kids should definitely not have unsupervised access to the internet.. and that my friends is the difference between good parenting and bad parenting.

55 & 58 are the only sensible answers.

Media (all over the world) is working real hard to make this whole pedo thing blow out of proportion because it is very sensational and very easy to sell as it titillates everyone's sub-conscious.

The whole age of consent concept is an artificial and baseless solution. And it is formulated keeping childbirth and pregnancy in mind. Whole it is no rocket science that every single normal person starts to enjoy sex way before the legal age on consent. And in today's era it is really easy to avoid pregnancy and enjoy good sex. So it would be more realistic if kids are given more truthful and proper sex education and there should be 2 ages of consent: 1 for sex itself (which should be determined with individual psychometric and medical test – like getting a driving license) and another for parenthood.

  67. Smith787
    March 16th, 2009 | 02:35

Alright, the guy broke the law, because he is a 24-year old prick.

However, the parents also broke US law.

Furthermore, US law itself breaks the law of nature. Age of consent (for marriage etc) should be 9, just like in Iran.

This guy is just fubar. It's not about platform, supervision or parenting. It's simply about an individual who's brain is wired up wrong, i.e. they are mentally ill. Pending any psychiatric or medical intervention, they belong interred, if only for the safety of the community.

@ #3 anon – you seem very defensive of the peado, and offensive towards the 11 year old girl who has had her naked photos distributed around the net because of this sick individual who persuaded her to send him illicit pictures! This is in no way the childs fault, she's only 11, it would be easy for a 24 year old to manipulate how she thinks, it is completely his fault and he should be locked up for life. As for this 11 y/o's 'guilty conscience' ruining his life, HE was the one who provoked her, HE was the one who manipulated a CHILD, HE was the one who co-ordinated the whole thing, his life SHOULD be ruined, because he has tainted a child who would otherwise be innocent and not worrying about random peados around the world looking at her naked!

This girl is eleven very young and stupid. (don't mean that in a mean way) this is no the fault of that child. If some sick bastard wants to look at pics of children, he deserves to go to jail. It always starts with something like this and progresses, to things like inappropriate touching, rape, murder…..
Hope others behind bars find out what he's done, he will pay dearly, they don't like child molestors! (And as a mother of three girls, I feel no emphany towards him at all only for the child and parents)….Parents also need to be very aware of what their children are doing and try to monitor them as much as possible, also teaching them, there are people who will harm them.
