Normally this means that the data you’re trying to copy cannot be read from the source disc. The cyclic redundancy check (CRC)is your computer’s test to check the copied data for accuracy – which is failing in your case. The CRC check is not an error in itself, but rather an error detection routine. How to get rid of them? Repair your disc. In most cases, this is not really possible, as the data recorded on the disc is destroyed by this point. Check the recorded (non-label) side of your disc and clean it well to remove any dust, fingerprints, or light scratches. If this doesn’t help, your disc is probably FUBAR. Most DVD copying and “recovery” programs will fail to recover the damaged data at this point – I haven’t found any one to be better than any others. Now your best bet is going to be to use a DVD copy program to make a MOVIE ONLY copy and hope that works. You’ll loose the menus and extras, but will (hopefully) end up with a watchable copy of the main movie title. If it’s a data disc you’re trying to salvage, forget it – it’s done. Salvage what you can and move on.

Does anyone know if this version get around “cyclic redundancy checks?” I haven’t found one that can. I’ve only encountered it a few times and nothing would work, not even a program built for recovering data from damaged discs.
