Some of you might already know that i love my point and click adventure style games from my previous Monkey Island posts and scene group SKIDROW have released a really nice looking one called “Machinarium”. Machinarium is independent puzzle / adventure game developed by the makers of popular web-games Samorost and Samorost2. Machinarium won the Excellence in Visual Art award and the Independent Game Festival as well as receiving some really great reviews. You can check out a short game play trailer here.

Description:
You will have to get rid of wicked robots from the Black Cap Brotherhood and save the head of the city and also your robot-girl friend. You will be solving many logical puzzles, adventure quests, brain teasers and mini-games. Backgrounds and characters are 2D hand-drawn and there is more then one hour of carefully crafted animations. Beautiful original soundtrack was composed and recorded. You won’t find any lengthy boring dialogs in this game, characters talk by comic bubbles with simple animations and symbols

    Played the demo of this via Steam – it’s a good, fun, taxing little game. Gonna try out SKIDROWs rip &, if I like it as much as the demo, will _deffo_ pay the £14 they’re asking…

    I played the demo and will buy the game, got to support these 15-20 dollar indie games as a lot of times they are more fun then the 59.99 dollar games. These guys have to be successful or they will disappear.

    Please tell me how piracy HELPS this game company as weve heard time and again? Then when you explain that you can basically multiply that by 1000 and give the same explanation for the bigger companies, its no different. Its like saying stealing electricity if youre a Russian citizen isnt as bad as if youre a French citizen because France is smaller.

    Kids who pirate have no money or credit cards, just internet access. They couldn’t buy the game if they wanted to. Every copy downloaded is not equal to a lost sale. If you can easily afford the game however you should pay. Consider it an investment in future games from the dev.

    Purchased from steam for $19.99. I played the online verions of the authors previous games and although I never finished them I was amazed at the graphics and sound design. Well worth the money. Hope Valve is paying the author a decent fee for hosting the game.

    Yep. I had save problems but I liked the game so I gave them the benefit of the doubt and bought it through Steam but that version has the same problem. The save files disappear after an hour or two. Could it be something to do with Windows 7 x64?

    P.S. I do not use CClean or any kind of registry/file manager.

    This is why I try before I buy and is probably the last time I take the optimistic approach.

    Literally a waste of time…
    3 times have I lost every save game created… the 3rd one being the final straw, I not only redid so much of it all over I invested many an hour into it for nothing.

    Cute game, lousy game resolution, lousy coding as far as the saving your progress goes.

    Kont.Black.. you need a program like Daemon Tools to open the Bin and Cue file thingies. They are like an image of the game CD disk etc.

    But be careful when installing Daemon Tools: use only a version compatible with your PC and Windows version (eg 32-bit or 64-bit and so on).

    If you do a search on the general Internet community, you’ll find lots of helpful tips about how to use Daemon Tools.
