Lucky Miles 2007 DVDRip XviD-aAF

2007612-luckymilesposter.jpgHere is another Australian film, even though I must admit this looks like one of the better Australian film. It has won three awards and was nominated for 7. This time group aAF have given us the movie Lucky Miles. Personally I haven’t seen the movie, but I can say I believe this movie is worth checking out. The release quality is perfectly fine with hard coded subs for the non English parts. Otherwise this is movie is worth a look.

An Indonesian fishing boat abandons a group of Iraqi and Cambodian men on a remote part of the Western Australian coast. Told there is a bus over the dunes, the men are abandoned to a desert the size of Poland. While most are quickly rounded up, three men with little in common but their history of misfortune elude capture and begin an epic but confused journey drawn on by their hopes amplified by the empty desert. Pursued by an army reservist unit more concerned with playing ball sports and music, our three protagonists wander deeper into trouble, searching desperately among the harsh beauty of the Pilbara for evidence of a western, liberal democracy. Or the promised bus.

    Aussie films always seem to have horrible lighting.

    I keep hearing that Ausie films are bad, but the few that I’ve seen weren’t that bad. for example Wolf Creek and the more recent December Boys, Even though the ending kinda sucked. i did get a semi when that harry potter fella was making out with that lolita.

    I saw this film during its limited release here in Australia and enjoyed it immensely. 4 stars from Margaret & 3 1/2 from David. Their review is here: http://www.abc.net.au/atthemovies/txt/s1963611.htm

    For my part, I enjoyed the interplay between the different cultures and languages. Beautifully shot and wonderfully characterised.

    Put it this way - now that I know it’s been released on DVD, I’m going to go and buy it.

    you are not the moderator of this forum
    imposing your pc views on others is just as offensive as another person’s ‘racism’
    people who call themselves ‘anti nazi’ are usually just nazis for what they believe

    this comment copied from elsewhere on this site….
    comment from the poster himself

    The first thing I have to say about this movie is it is a Australian film and since I’ve been living in Australia a while now i can tell you Australian films suck even the Aussies will tell you they suck. If you haven’t seen a Australian film before get this release so you can find out for yourself that Australian Films suck. Note: This view has been based on past experience of living in Australia and hearing Australian views.

    If pointing out someone’s inappropriate comment is consider PC then let it be. You are right about me not being a mod but I believe the comments section are supposed to be on the topic of the release not a free for all write whatever you feel like - right at the top it does state “don’t go offtopic”.

    “people who call themselves ‘anti nazi’ are usually just nazis for what they believe” I only wish that was true. Unfortunate it was the opposite that was true, the Nazis were very good at imposing their view and as a result millions of people died in the Holocaust because those PC anti-Nazi didn’t speak out enough.

    Sorry, for imposing my PC view about this on you too. Lastly, let me leave you with this PC saying “To know what is right and not to do it is the worst cowardice”

    Peace!

    @ Blake
    Australia has produced some excellent films in the last 10 yrs, before that they were pretty (below) average - “The Adventures of Barry McKenzie” for ex. ‘Mad Max’ was original, ‘Priscilla’ ‘Strictly Ballroom’ and ‘Wolf Creek’ world class. Probably not everybody’s taste - what film ever is- but generally accepted as good film.
    @4
    Aussie films are generally filmed outdoors, the light is natural and gives a bleached overexposed look. Anyone who has lived in Oz during summer would realise that that is how it looks - the light is very strong.
    @10
    The brothers will be round to see you, we have put up with whitey for 200 long years and it is time you all went home! Who cares about Asians, at least they come from this end of the world (and there’s less of them). Only kidding but the idea that Asians should be sent home pisses me off considering that GB only invaded Aust 200 odd yrs ago, and have been destroying the indiginous culture ever since.

    Firstly I apologise for not commenting on the quality but as I read through the comments I wanna head ut the screen but it would hurt so I won’t, Anywas, Just to answer mike and others. Australia makes damn fine movies I watch everyone that comes out an I will pick up an aussie film before all others. You have probably guessed Imma an aussie (an damn proud of it).

    There are some good aussie films but this one looks like it would suck. From the sample picture it looks like another film shot in country towns with lots of these weird old pubs and bogans.

    Sorry 21, our country towns really are full of weird old pubs and bogans who talk out of the sides of their mouths - as I said before Oz movies really do represent Oz - that may suck for you but it makes for reality (god forbid we should have to face reality!!!)
