    -Similar tool like Acronis True Image.-

    Is it better? If I use Acronis, is woth using this instead?

    Thanks Martin

    @ Bob

    Well, to be honest, best way to find out answer on that question is to install, compare em, and decide which one suits your needs.

    And btw, my name is not Martin.

    I was on a Tech news from Martin just before.

    I meant Christian.

    My question was pointed to people who tried both.
    Thanks for your quick answer though.

    I’ve used this and its not to bad, does exactly what it says. It isn’t exactly feature rich however. I personally use Acronis True Image, it makes an entire backup image in 2min and can restore an entire partition to new state in same time. I have it set up to do incremental backups, so if something goes wrong I can have a fresh machine within minutes. All in all though its up to preference, and what software you feel most comfortable using.

    Don’t bother with this or Acronis.

    Backup Exec System Recovery (A.K.A. Powerquest Drive Image, Norton Ghost 9-14, Symantec Livestate) is the best and only imaging tool supported by VMware.

    The rest are trash.

    Subpar app for professional and trusty imaging and cloning of hard drives, for those wanting reliable and widely compatible with motherboards/raid/chipsets disk imaging software try Terabyte Unlimiteds, http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/ , products like BootIT NG and Image For Windows. BootIT NG is the only bootable product that comes as full functional shareware and detects/works with the latest raid/ahci chipsets and comes with sector by sector verify, Image For Windows is robust app for taking full images or snapshots,is bartpe compatible and comes with all the tools to create bootable rescue dvds with the image. I use both for years now, this tools never failed me so i can highly recommend them.

    Hello all,

    The soft. looks good with easy to use interfacr. The “bootable disk creation” is disabled, however. This is a demo version, and they require the user to download it as an update. When trying to download, it states: exceeded the limit of 3 downloads.

    Acronis True Image Echo Workstation, has a feature that nobody else provides. It’s called Universal Restore, which just means, your backup operating system image can be restored to both your PC and or a completely new different PC client using different hardware! You just install the hardware drivers for that new PC to complete the task, which can be done with the backup image or after manually.

    In addition, this newest version does support ahci chipsets! I’ve been using many backup solutions over the years, but this new version is super easy, offers network, USB, CD/DVD etc.. for recovery that’s fast to restore with different levels of archive compression to fit your needs, inclduing 256bit AES encryption.

    You don’t need the operation system to boot to backup or restore as well. The back restore image can provide a single one click button as well on your backup restore media such as CD/DVD disk.

    I recommend this because it works, one can even mount the restore image to extract individual files…

    The only thing I would advise when using Acronis software, is when you create a backup restore image, always remember to use that same Acronis software version to restore your backup. That’s because different versions when using Acronis often do NOT support different versions. Meaning, your backup image will NOT be restore when using different versions of Acronis usually.

    Just remember to create a new backup restore image after you upgraded Acronis…

    @16

    Latest VMware support Acronis.

    @22

    Universe Restore is not 100% working all the time.

    Not sure what issue you’re experiencing with Universal Restore?

    I’m using build 8018, which worked fine for me regarding the Universal Restore feature. The only thing I found in build 8018 that’s obviously in need of improving was for the remaining time displayed to complete the task.

    This wasn’t an issue in prior versions and I haven’t updated to the newest ATI Echo Wrokstation version… Maybe someone has the latest build version being 8076 with UR?

    @mc You’re right about how Acronis True Image Echo Workstation isn’t 100% working all the time. I wanted to know why you had problems, so I went to the Wilders Security Forums and looked up Acronis build versions, and sure enough, the new versions do have a few issues to work out. Including the creations of backup files. What’s interesting, when reading the comments of everyone was to see almost all the troubles were related with Windows Vista and Vista SP1.

    For everyone else, don’t know what to say, but try the free trial and test it to check yourself on your system, but that’s NOT what we want in reality, a product that sort of works, or doesn’t when it comes to backup, right?

    Acronis Workstation v9.1 build 3718 doesn’t support the newer AHCI, but everything works including the remaining time display as well, for those wanting to use Acronis Workstation for backup.
