FYI gun control or gun free nations/cities/areas don't work. They haven't worked in the past and in the present. Actual facts and trends show that an armed civilian population prevents more crime than any gun bans or zero tolerance policies. How do you think MAD worked through the Cold War? People will always take the easiest path and if someone knows that person A has a million dollars cash on them but is armed with a gun and person B has the same amount but isn't armed at all which will get robbed?
The United States have been hard on gun use and rights and as such the fear mongering associated with them lowers the current ownership which is a bad thing. You can't compare small countries of Europe which are barely or around the population of a single state in the United States. The state of California's GDP is higher than most European nations

I personally don't want to be a sheep and prefer the right to defend my myself from my government and or hostile persons towards me or my family.
A good case to point out is the United Kingdom. They don't consider self defense a valid reason to owning a gun and in fact the only area where firearms are owned in any quantity is an area known for it's violence due to British colonization and subjugation forcefully. Northern Ireland is pretty much the only place and it's to protect the protestant unionist citizens. I can go on about the huge injustices done over in Ireland to them to warrant the violence but won't.
You can see the Brits have cameras everywhere not to mention speed cameras almost everywhere. The UK population in Scotland and England are almost like sheep now. They do what they're told and in a civil manner lest the constables come calling. It's pretty sad over there they are all bark no bite.
An average brit is 10 times better as a person and safer than an average American. When was the last time you heard about a postal style massacre in GB?
That doesn't stop them from protesting against the govt. or anyone in any way at all. See how they forced their leaders, the puppets of US, to rethink the immoral and unethical and unnecessary war strategy against Iraq and the new legal battle that has started as a result. Ppl always get what is really needed. And no matter how many cameras installed or constables deployed, no one can stop that.
And animal in the wild uses its nails and teeth for protection. An enlightened human in a civilized society has an even better weapon, his brain. Showing off a gun does not make you a brave person but a coward and dumb person.

Exactly my point! From the war torn dystopias of Africa to Pak-Afghan border or Gaza strip, anywhere there is human conflict at its worst, you will find that there is a gun in every household, or what is left of it.
A Neanderthal's way of life required him to carry a spear or dagger always with him. Whereas our ancestors decided to abandon that way if life partly (or completely in most cases), and started farming etc. alternative lifestyles. And we all know which side mother nature selected as the winner in the lottery called survival of the fittest. After centuries of progress if someone tells you to go back to Neanderthal's way of life and you chose to follow his advice, then who is the sheeple my friend?
As far as jumping on USA's call is concerned, yes it was like that for some time after the cold war. But look how their call for the looting of Iraqi oilfields under false pretext was not heeded by most of the civilized world. Same thing followed when US media was again singing the war song in chorus targeted against Iran then NK. The world has learned to see through the devilish tricks of the warmongers who rule USA.
See how the "scary" recession has not affected much the BRIC countries and many 2nd world economies who'd decided to stay away from that barbaric and brutal game of war.
America has made millions of kids orphan and millions of women widows in her own soil and all over the world. This type of devilish action has never gone unpunished in the history, nor it will be this time.

You make example of Neanderthhal's way of life as their reason for going extinct, but meanwhile it was the smaller and more aggressive homo sapiens that exterminated them with better weapons. Neanderthal's upper body was not best designed for utilizing projectile weapons. Homo sapiens smaller and more agile bodies allowed quick attack-and-retreat projectile tactics. Homo sapiens won the right for survival due to better weapons and military tactics.
Now I'm not taking sides; I just thought that was funny and decided to point it out.

I like how some defend the UK like they know better. The UK numbers on crimes involving firearms has gone up not down. Fatalities haven't really gone up with them. Yes let's compare an almost mono racial society like UK that is 95% white with almost zero diversity be it religion and race with the USA. It's a fact the UK monarchy and government have stripped their religious freedoms long ago making it a state church. It must be great where everyone does the same exact thing like an ant colony. Religion the same race the same I wonder who is going to die out? Give the UK a similar population to that of the USA and expand their numbers to compensate and you will see clearly that many of the crimes are comparable.
It's ok though because when the UK government wants to do what it wants against the people you will be defenseless to prevent it.
Who was one of the primary countries begging for American help since the Civil War? Americans didn't want a part of the European problem but look who begged and dubiously tried to get them involved. It's funny but look who started both world wars on top of being home to the world's biggest mass murderers! Europe and it's surrounding area has been nothing but problems and they have the nerve to have an anti-american sentiment?
Bush was a problematic administration and many americans won't argue it and many agree. It's still not as bad as Europe has been or is so stop with the holier than thou crap it's illogical.
You know sometimes I wish the USA just left Europe to it's own devices completely again. Problem with that is they wouldn't let it happen and bring their problems and filth over here eventually.
