Liverpool fans targeted by phishing attack
Security experts are warning of a phishing scam claiming to be a lottery run by Liverpool Football Club. The emails were spammed out over the weekend informing recipients that they have won £500,000 in a special lottery organised by the club to celebrate having £20m left over at the end of the season. “This email scam campaign is using the name of one of the world’s greatest football clubs in an attempt to steal people’s money and identities,” said Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant at Sophos.
“Everyone should be suspicious if they are unexpectedly told that they have won a fortune. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.” In order to claim their prize users have to give their name, address and bank details and are told to expect a cheque forthwith. It is not known how many people have fallen for the scam. This is the second football related scam in two months; the previous one also used the lottery disguise and claimed to come from FIFA. Seriously though i always question as to how and why people fall for these kind of scams. I mean i get these things all the time as well as update bank details such as accounts and passwords and ebay ones. But if you simply look at the links they don’t actaully point to the site you use. like it’d be ebay.tk or something like that or some have been just .net .
way i see it if you cant get to they place from the original website ( the one you have in fav’s ) then well it probably is a scam, and the old saying if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is.

For one thing let me clear everything up. It’s called ’soccer’ here in USA. Our ‘Football’ is a damn finner sport and involves tackling and touchdowns.
Now, about the phishing scam. That really sucks. But if I got that email I would do a bit of google research to find the truth of it.

@15 your football is called american football in sweden, becasue we know it is stupied to call a sport football when useing hands mainly, therefor american football ^^. I saw giant vs the patriots and I didn’t see the point to the game, might be just me but most of the time they just drank water and said “OMG this is tuff” yet they didnt do anything realy. 10 yards and 4 tries … hmmm … it takes me ½ min to walk that distance ^^… mainly just teasing you, but question still remains, why football when useing hands? o yes I know sometimes you hit it with the foot and tried to get into that goal thingy but otherwise you use your hands and why not handball?

Don’t be a fool, your so-called sport is just an excuse for advertising. Stopping every two minutes and needing different players for attack and defence. That’s just no fun. Football, or soccer if you prefer, is easily proven as the world’s greatest sport.

you’re on the money for the most part, but don’t go bad mouthing ice hockey. it’s closer to football (soccer, for the yanks) than most sports, just on a different scale. also, i’m rather certain both ice hockey and basketball (or hoops, as you so eloquently put it) were created in canada. but yea, baseball and american football are boring and slow, what with the constant stoppages of play (nba basketball’s pretty much the same).
