Surprisingly, Czech group DeBCZ has won the race to release this star-studded film. Robert Redford directs and stars alongside Streep and Cruise in last year’s flop “Lions for Lambs”. Quality is good.
Synopsis: Robert Redford directs and stars in this provocative ode to political activism. Boasting a powerhouse cast that also includes Meryl Streep and Tom Cruise, the film features three storylines centered on the Iraq war. Cruise is Jasper Irving, a rising Republican senator who has summoned Janine Roth (Streep), the head journalist at a large news corporation, to sell her on the government’s new military strategy. It’s his hope that she in turn will sell the public on the idea. Meanwhile, a history professor (Redford) is trying to convince one of his more promising students to strive to make a difference in the world.

I watched this at the cinema. The synopsis sounded fine (nothing like a bit of political manipulation to make a movie) but this one moves so slow-w-w-w-w-l-y and as for the different storylines that are supposed to be interwining as the movie progresses? well, safe to say its been done a lot better before. There are no surprises in this utterly predictable plot. For me this movie falls into the category of ‘well I’ve allready committed 30mins to this movie so I’m going to have to keep watching it now, surely it must pick up soon…’ – unfortunately this one doesn’t.
this movie sucks not worth the download, Good rip but the movie just plain out sucks.

its funny how the plot of this sounds so much like something they would be into as well – good bit of political manipulation, propoganda etc.
And here I thought that freedom of religion thing got settled over 200 years ago.

If you’re looking for an antiwar movie, this is not it.
If you’re looking for an action film, this is not it either.
One of the reasons audiences responded so poorly to this film was, thanks to the marketing, they went into expecting an action movie or at the least a political thriller.
The film is essentialy 3 overlapping events, two of them simply conversations. The film’s message is neither antiwar nor pro war… it makes convincing arguments both ways. It’s meant more as a wake up call to be civicly involved one way or another with the most emphasis in the film on the story of the conversation between the college professor and his bright, but lazy, student he’s trying to inspire.
It makes for a boring movie going experience. But it has some good points to debate that probably lay better viewed at home.

You nailed it! Unfortunately in this day and age everyone has an attention span of about 10 seconds so its really hard to grab the public´s interest if the director doesn’t put some big explosions, or some sex or violent scenes. It’s their loss, though…
